Position Summary
This position is responsible for assisting the corporate controller, division controllers, VP of Finance, and other areas of the finance/accounting departments. Areas of concentration will include, but are not limited to, internal and external financial reporting, financial statement close, financial consolidation, internal controls, accounting policy and procedures, technical accounting analysis and documentation, research, and maintaining financial systems. 3+ years of accounting experience is required.
Essential Functions
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and year-end financial statements and MD&A in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Preparation of monthly financial packages circulated to the management team
- Support the accounting function and teams, with a continuous focus on improving policies, processes, procedures and systems; month-end close process; consolidation; and accounting operations. Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices in accordance with US GAAP.
- Perform period-end accruals, adjustments, recurring, and other accounting entries at the Corporate level and across the Company's operating segments
- Complete and/or manage balance sheet reconciliations in your areas of oversight
- Work across the finance function and with senior management to document and ensure internal control compliance.
- Interpret and analyze monthly/quarterly/annual results.
- Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Review and approve financial statements to ensure accuracy of financial information and compliance with US GAAP.
- Review and approve account reconciliations (quarterly, at a minimum).
- Review and approve monthly account fluctuation explanations.
- Perform research, interpret technical accounting guidance, and assist in the documentation of areas including:
- Goodwill / intangible assets
- Lease accounting
- Revenue recognition
- Stock compensation
- Purchase price accounting
- Financial reporting and related disclosures
- FASB ASU pronouncements
- Assist with coordinating the activities of the external auditors to ensure successful completion of quarterly reviews and annual audits.
- Analyze financial data to determine accounting, finance, and tax implications for all material business decisions.
- Represent the accounting function in acquisition analysis and acquisition integration.
- Participate in ongoing organizational and individual development
- Enhance a strong accounting team that provides proactive support and results-driven execution of responsibilities to meet the current and future needs of the business.
- Coach employees to facilitate engagement and professional development. Continually strive to develop talent within the accounting organization to promote individual development.
- Align and activate resources to resolve issues and/or take advantage of opportunities arising from organizational change.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- Certified Public Accounting (CPA) designation preferred
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- Critical thinking and analytical skills, including the capacity to identify, assess and prioritize competing interests and needs
- Skills and ability to clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing to convey complex concepts clearly and logically
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate discretion
- Skill and ability to strategically execute within a fast-paced, deadline-oriented and complex environment
- Knowledge of specialized tools is a plus but not required (Microsoft D365, reporting software such as Hyperion/deFacto, Basware, Blackline)

The Manager of Financial Reporting will play a key role in both external and internal management reporting. This individual will work closely with Financial Planning and Analysis, Treasury, Tax, Regional Finance teams, and the Corporate Accounting team to consolidate and report the Company's results. This individual will be responsible for the preparation and review of the disclosures included in its 10-Q and 10-K as well as assist with internal management reporting, reporting to government agencies, and standalone entity audits. A successful candidate for this role will be strong in both technical accounting and analytical skills and have strong communication skills.
+ Review of consolidated balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows, and footnotes in accordance with US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
+ Involvement in the internal reporting process on a monthly basis, including preparation and review of the monthly reporting package and analysis, as well as working with the business unit finance teams to streamline process and improve content
+ Review and prepare as necessary consolidation and intercompany elimination entries
+ Prepare and approve chart of account updates
+ Monitor and analyze accounting data loaded to the system monthly
+ Review support to be provided to external auditors
+ Review and prepare, when necessary, standalone entity external audited financial statements and footnotes on an as-needed basis
+ Assist with the optimization of consolidation and reporting procedures, including reducing the time to close and reporting results
+ Ensure XBRL reporting requirements are met, including establishing best practices
+ Participate in the preparation of materials for the Company's Audit Committee of the Board of Directors meetings
+ Supervise seniors on the team and provide direction and oversight
+ Participate in assigned special projects as needed
Requirements
Experience Required:
+ Minimum of 5 to 6 years of experience in accounting and/or public accounting. The ideal candidate would have at least 2 years of public accounting experience.
+ Knowledge of the hotel industry and previous SEC and financial experience a plus.
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting
+ Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
+ Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
+ Hyperion knowledge a plus

Primary Responsibilities
+ Support the monthly and quarterly financial close process, including preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and analyzing trends.
+ Assist with the accounting and reporting for stock-based compensation, bonuses, and benefit related accruals.
+ Analyze accounting information and provide accurate and timely analysis when participating in monthly financial trend meetings with senior management.

Education:
+ Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required

+ Strong understanding of U.S. general accepted accounting principles
+ Knowledge of accounting practices and departmental processes

The Senior will ensure that timely, accurate, and insightful financial information is provided to the appropriate business stakeholders. About the Team
Deloitte's Controllership function, within its Finance & Administration organization, provides stewardship over the US firms' assets by monitoring business transactions and enforcing accounting policy that results in accurate and reliable financial statements. Controllership is a dynamic, highly collaborative group focused on overseeing and supporting the financial health of the U.S. member firm and each of its functional subsidiaries.
What You'll Do:
+ Drive period, quarter, and year-end accounting processes, ensuring compliance with appropriate policy and accuracy of financial information within established deadlines.
+ Review and approve journal entries daily.
+ Analyze, interpret, and understand financial data to ensure reported amounts are accurate and aligned with expectations.
+ Support the review of business transactions to ensure compliance with US GAAP and firm policies.
+ Collaborate effectively with teams across Finance & Administration to review accruals, journal entries, and other accounting transactions.
+ Demonstrate responsiveness by proactively assisting the team with critical deliverables for the Lead Controller or US Firms' Controller.
