The Mission of the Division of the Alaska Pioneer Homes Is: "Providing elder Alaskans a home and community, celebrating life through its final breath."
This On-Call position is a member of and outstanding nursing and direct care staff at the Juneau Pioneer Home and plays a vital role in providing person-centered support in a safe environment for up to forty-nine (49) elder residents.

This is a part-time on-call position who will be asked to fill in as needed.

What You Will Be Doing: Provide high quality personal care to assisted living home residents in a warm, supportive, and caring manner. Following the resident's Assisted Living Plan, this position assists residents with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and with transporting into and out of bed, wheelchairs, bathtubs, lifts, and using walkers and canes, etc. This position is also part of a team providing programs that promote physical well-being and relationships by involving residents in activities where they engage in meaningful person to person social interchange with other residents, family, friends, and staff.

Minimum Qualifications
Physically capable of performing work that requires standing, walking, lifting, bending, and pushing.
Special Note

Responsibilities

The Nursing Assistant or Home Health Aide, (Resident Assistant) is responsible for the provision of high quality personal care and services to residents to support the Personally Designed Living choices of residents, while maintaining consistency with regulations and established best practices.

Qualifications
  • To be considered for Assisted Living: caregiving experience helpful but not required.

Kendal at Hanover is a nonprofit Continuing Care Retirement Community, and home to 400+ residents. We have great full-time AND part-time opportunities for individuals interested in the hospitality, food service and/or healthcare field. The Assisted Living Dietary Aide serves as a nutritional aide and server to resident patrons of the restaurants in our Assisted Living neighborhood.

Summary of Responsibilities

The Assisted Living Dietary Aide provides residents living in the Assisted Living facility with quality dining service while enhancing the resident experience. The person in this role will communicate with residents about meal selection, assisting with menu completion and meal delivery when needed. They will support nursing staff with the resident dining experience to include tasks such as: transporting meals, setting up meals and snacks, and assisting residents with eating. They will also perform full service in the dining rooms, including taking resident orders, delivering food and drinks, clearing tables, and washing dishes as needed.

Weekend work is required (either every other weekend or 1 weekend day each weekend). Work schedule is all shifts between 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM.

**Summary**
+ The Medication Aide, under supervision of the charge nurse, provides assistance with distribution of medications to residents. Assists with Care Assistant responsibilities as needed.
**General Hours of Work**
+ Part Time, Night shift from 3pm -11pm , every other holiday, and every 3rd weekend.
**Education and/or Experience**
+ Certified Nurse Aide Certification preferred, but not required. Certified Medication Aid required. Prefer high school diploma or GED. Experience in working with the elderly population preferred, but not required.
**Certificate, Licenses, Registrations**
+ Certified as a Medication Aide in the State of Iowa required.
**Essential Functions**
+ Must follow the CDC legal and ethical guidelines set by the state, resident's rights, and organization for the distribution of medication to residents, and must be knowledgeable about the medication or research information.
+ Know the special physical conditions of the resident that might affect how medication would react.
+ Receives work assignments from Charge Nurse including assisting with medication pass, obtaining vital signs and blood glucose readings, and other duties within scope of practice.
+ Stays current on resident care plans, reviews report sheets and new interventions at beginning of shift and as needed.
+ Observes residents and notes physical condition, attitude, reactions, appetite, etc.
+ Acts as leader and mentor to fellow team members.
+ Reports any changes or unusual findings to Charge Nurse.
+ Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
