Job Summary:
The Project Estimator will build project estimates that include material/equipment and labor costs for TransTech Energy's construction projects for their customers' requirements for the storage, transfer and utilization of liquefied gases, such as propane, butane and Liquefied Natural Gas. The qualified candidate will work closely with TransTech's engineering, business development and sales team to support their development of competitive proposals for various projects throughout TransTech's service area. Develop costs based on the analysis of project specifications, pricing schedules for labor and materials, as well as historical data. Analyze post-production /project costs and uses data and variances to improve accuracy of future project estimates.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with other departments (i.e. Field Services, Engineering, Purchasing and Business Development) to support the needs of creating project estimates along with other project data analysis.
• Analyze and review required documents, drawings, and project specifications to gain a thorough understanding of the projects' scope of work and customers' needs.
• Prepare material estimates and cost estimates for the project utilizing company's Proprietary Estimation Tool.
• Create labor estimates for projects
• Create/improve tools and reports in Excel to aid in creating and communicating estimates.
• Present prepared estimates to management and other stakeholders
• Manage and prioritize the project pipeline to ensure that deadlines are met.
• Develop a project-specific Request for Proposal for distribution to subcontractors including, but not limited to, instructions to bidders, contract documents, schedule, bid forms for pricing and schedule, and a list of documents
• Support project management activities as needed

Basic knowledge of cost/estimating, engineering design, or construction practices, preferably in heavy civil or mining.

Familiarity with estimating/scheduling software is a plus (InEight Estimate, Primavera P6, MS Project).

Education and Experience

Field or internship experience in heavy civil, tunnel, or mining is an asset.

Pay Range:
• Locations in CO, HI, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas - Min Salary $ 76,600.00 - Max Salary $ 111,000.00
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Visentry integrates 'intelligent ' digital video technology with the most comprehensive central monitoring software available today, delivered on an application Service Provider (ASP) platform that is protected by redundancy and related fail-safe mechanisms.
The Project Estimator will lead the preparation and execution of cost estimates for low-voltage scopes across various projects, including cabling, security systems, CCTV, IP cameras, VMS, access control, intercoms, and VoIP systems. This role requires exceptional organizational skills and strong client relationship management to develop accurate proposals, engage with prospective clients, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure competitive and comprehensive bids.
In addition to the above, the following are the duties and responsibilities of the Project Estimator:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Estimating & Proposal Development:
- Review and analyze bid documents, drawings, and technical specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Develop comprehensive and competitive project proposals for low-voltage systems including cabling, security systems, CCTV, IP cameras, VMS, access control, intercoms, and VoIP systems.
- Ensure estimates include all necessary materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Actively engage with prospective clients to discuss project requirements, showcase company capabilities, and promote value-added services.
- Identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell additional low-voltage solutions during the bidding process.
- Follow up on open bids, track bid status, and analyze lost bids to identify areas for improvement.
- Maintain an average win rate of 30% on submitted bids.
- Project Coordination & Planning:
- Collaborate with technical teams to gather accurate project details and requirements.
- Assist in preliminary design and scope development for new projects.
- Provide input on project schedules, ensuring realistic timelines based on estimated resources and logistic
- Client & Vendor Relations:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and vendors.
- Obtain competitive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with clients to address questions or adjustments during the bidding process.
- Technical Expertise & Quality Control:
- Stay current with industry trends, standards, and emerging technologies related to low-voltage systems.
- Provide technical insights to ensure estimates reflect accurate system configurations and design requirements.
- Ensure all estimates and proposals comply with company quality standards and client expectations.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain organized records of estimates, proposals, and bid results.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and reports for management review.
- Support the handoff process from sales/estimating to project management, ensuring all relevant details are documented.
Required Education, Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience as a Project Estimator in low-voltage systems, including security, access control, CCTV, IP cameras, VMS, intercoms, and VoIP.
- Strong understanding of construction industry standards and low-voltage system design.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel; experience with estimating software is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
- Must pass a drug and background screening
