PRIMARY FUNCTION :

Appropriately and accurately evaluate the cost of a project during all phases of preconstruction from

conceptual estimating through detailed quantity take-off, bid solicitation, and purchasing.


TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Calculate quantities and costs of construction items for hard bid and negotiated projects.
  • Research material, labor, and equipment pricing for hard bid and negotiated projects.
  • Quantify and price Self-Performed Work
  • Prepare detailed scopes of work for multiple bid packages.
  • Solicit, review, and award subcontracts.
  • Provide risk assessments and constructability reviews for hard bid and negotiated projects.
  • Develop conceptual and schematic level estimates based on ability to anticipate design relative to a
  • fundamental knowledge of building systems and cost data.
  • Maintain professional relationship with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and other industry

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience working in the commercial construction industry
  • Must have own housing and transportation.
  • Understanding of all facets of commercial construction including, but not limited to, higher-education, institutional, office, retail, health care, warehouse/manufacturing, and multi-unit residential
  • Knowledge of Pittsburgh Market preferred, but not required.
  • Ideal candidate will have excellent writing and verbal communication, organizational, time management
  • and problem-solving skills.

  • Communicate all customer requests and needs to appropriate team members

  • Provides positive energy when greeting customers in person and on the phone

  • Understanding of all required Insurance programs and procedures

  • Participate in daily “production walks” with the Management Team, as required

  • Support all team members when required

  • Participate in monthly Health & Safety and staff meeting (if required)

  • Attend training, information sessions and workshops recommended by Store Manager 

  • Maintain the store's KPI’s by maximizing role performance

Education and/or Experience Required

  • Knowledge of Repairs and OE Guidelines 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent 

  • Awareness of where to look for answers 

  • Basic Computer Skills 

  • Compliance for DRP’s Minimum of 1-year experience 

  • Must be willing to complete I-CAR Training 

  • Valid Driver’s License
