As a Portfolio Management Lead, Executive Director in the Real Estate Banking team, you will lead a team responsible for managing commercial real estate credit portfolios. You will collaborate with colleagues across coverage and risk teams to ensure robust portfolio reporting and risk management. Together, we will drive responsible growth, proactively identify emerging risks, and deliver high-quality solutions for our clients. You will have the opportunity to mentor talent, streamline processes, and contribute to the success of our business.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of Vice President and Associate Portfolio Managers
  • Evaluate team skill sets to ensure alignment with role requirements
  • Identify high-potential talent, provide mentorship, and foster professional growth
  • Oversee comprehensive portfolio monitoring and proactively address emerging risks
  • Collaborate with market surveillance teams to assess portfolio vulnerabilities and drive risk mitigation strategies
  • Direct the annual credit review process, ensuring timely and high-quality reviews
  • Review and validate team outputs to maintain consistency and excellence in credit analysis
  • Ensure accurate and consistent underwriting and risk grading
  • Escalate potential credit issues to senior management
  • Manage reporting and regulatory processes to ensure data accuracy and consistency
  • Establish and maintain processes to monitor loan covenant compliance, including construction loan timelines

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or a related field
  • At least 7 years of experience in commercial real estate lending, portfolio management, or debt financing within a financial institution
  • Deep expertise in credit underwriting methodologies and risk assessment across office, retail, industrial, and multifamily asset classes
  • Demonstrated success in leading, coaching, and developing high-performing teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex information
  • Exceptional organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Experience in managing reporting and regulatory processes for data accuracy
  • Ability to identify and implement opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency
  • Proven track record of mentoring talent and driving team engagement
  • Experience in monitoring loan covenant compliance and construction loan timelines
  • Commitment to maintaining data integrity, quality, and timeliness in internal systems

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Advanced degree in Business, Finance, or Real Estate preferred
  • Experience partnering with offshore teams for financial statement spreading
  • Familiarity with advanced data management and portfolio management techniques
  • Experience in driving improvements in data management practices
  • Knowledge of internal controls and regulatory requirements in banking
  • Experience participating in special ad hoc projects
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
