Description of Work Unit
Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation's leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. The Department of Physics maintains a tradition of excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Department Research Associates participate in research on three continents with programs in many of the most active and exciting areas of physics.
Position Summary
The Department of Physics seeks temporary or special appointment applications for 2025-2026 from individuals who are interested in Research Associate positions within the department. A detailed description of the department and Research Associates are available on the department web page signing bonus of up to 2500 may be considered for successful candidates depending on education and experience.
Required Job Qualifications
+ Level Iis an entry-level position for individuals with a Bachelors degree and less than 3 years of experience.
+ Level IIis the position to which a Research Associate I is promoted after 3 years, or an individual with a Bachelors degree and more than 3 years of relevant experience or a recent Masters degree with no additional professional experience.
+ Level III is the position to which a Research Associate II is promoted, or an individual with a Bachelors degree and 5 years of work-related experience or a Masters degree with at least 2 years of experience. An individual with a PhD that does not have any additional experience may also be appointed to this position.
+ Level IVis the level to which a Research Associate III is promoted, or an individual with a Bachelors degree and 10 years of work-related experience. An individual with a Masters degree with more than 5 years experience may be appointed to this position, as well as a PhD who has at least 2 years experience.
+ TheSenior levelis the level to which a Research Associate IV is promoted, or individuals with extensive post-baccalaureate experience or a Masters degree and significant professional experience. Individuals with a PhD with at least 5 years of experience may also be eligible.

Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens **,** LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY). LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree programs and more than fifty workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 24,000 students. More than one-third of LaGuardia's degree-seeking students are born outside the United States; they come from 136 countries and speak 43 heritage languages. Sixty percent are first-generation college students.
Virtually all LaGuardia students are ethnic minorities (89 percent), 58 percent are women, 27 percent are over the age of 25. Forty-six percent of associate degree students are Hispanic. Upon graduation most students transfer to four-year colleges, typically in CUNY, to complete their baccalaureate degrees. Graduates of career programs such as Nursing, Computer Technology, and Veterinary Technology enter the workforce. The Student Advising Services team plays a critical role in these efforts by providing proactive, holistic advisement support to new and continuing students throughout their LaGuardia journey.
The Senior Academic Advisor reports to the Associate Director for Student Advising Services. The Senior Academic Advisor will:
+ Provide individualized, developmentally appropriate academic advising to new, continuing, and returning students.
+ Assist students in selecting appropriate courses each term based on degree requirements, career goals, transfer plans, placement scores, and academic standing.
+ Collaborate with faculty and academic departments to ensure accurate interpretation of college policies, degree pathways, prerequisites, and course sequencing.
+ Support students in developing long-term academic plans that align with their educational, career, and transfer goals.
+ Leverage academic advising tools and technologies such as Navigate, DegreeWorks, and CUNYfirst to meticulously review and maintain accurate tracking of student progress and data.
+ Monitor student academic progress, identify potential barriers to success, and initiate proactive outreach when students are off-track.
+ Track progress of students on probation and implement strategies to improve retention and academic performance.
+ Assiststudentsincontinuallymonitoringand evaluatingtheir educationprogressbyreviewingacademic audits, providing support services referrals and information on college policies

**QUALIFICATIONS**
