Job Description

Primary Function of Position

The revenue operations team is responsible for ensuring appropriate revenue recognition for the Company's revenue and lease contracts. This role also requires a deep understanding of our operational processes and working closely with cross-functional departments of the Company to produce timely and quality financial reporting, enable accurate forecasting, and process improvement. This will allow you to develop a broad and deep understanding of the Company's business and operations that are essential for strong career development and personal growth.

Essential Job Duties

  • Analyzing and assessing the accounting and financial reporting implications related to revenue and lease contracts entered into with our customers, under ASC 606 and ASC 842.
  • Work with cross-functional business partners to facilitate the review and operational execution of revenue and lease related deals, which includes deal structuring and processing within SAP
  • Perform revenue close activities including executing journal entries, contract review and processing, account reconciliations, management reporting, supplemental monthly reporting schedules and balance sheet/income statement variance analysis in accordance with our monthly close schedule.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with other teams (Customer Finance, IT, Accounting, etc.) in system and process implementation projects and perform testing to validate system design is appropriate.
  • Actively identify opportunities for process improvement or operational automation in existing system infrastructure.
  • Comply with internal controls as well as update process documentation when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures, and U.S. GAAP for responsible areas.
  • Interface with external auditors for global and statutory audit requirements.
Qualifications

**What you'll be doing:**
+ Ensure proper and accurate recognition of revenue in accordance with IFRS, GAAP, and company policies.
+ Review client contractual agreements to confirm compliance and appropriate accounting treatment.
+ Manage and oversee **cash applications** to ensure timely and accurate application of customer payments.
+ Lead the **collections process** by monitoring outstanding accounts receivable balances, engaging with stakeholders, and resolving issues to minimize delinquencies.
+ Prepare and process contractual invoicing, journal entries, commissions, inventory adjustments, accruals, deferrals, and reconciliations.
+ Collaborate with Finance teams on revenue accounting, billing, and collections to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
+ Support operational improvement initiatives to streamline the revenue close calendar and improve collection efficiency.
+ Standardize processes to leverage the advantages of a Shared Service Center approach, enhancing automation, interfaces, and data analytics.
+ Research and draft accounting policies and positions for non-standard revenue transactions.
+ Implement and maintain internal controls related to revenue recognition, cash applications, and collections processes.
+ Assist with external audits and ad hoc projects as needed.
+ Demonstrate flexibility by shifting between groups (revenue, cash applications, collections, or other accounting functions) to support business priorities on a given day.
+ Support company-wide continuous improvement initiatives within the Shared Services Center.

Responsibilities:
+ Collaborate with Legal, Sales, Sales Operations, AR in structuring and reviewing revenue contracts providing sound technical accounting guidance
+ In charge of the Order Management cycle by setting up contracts in the Revenue Module in the ERP system
+ Read and interpret detailed contracts to ensure adherence to company policies and resolve any revenue issues
+ Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and other control activities
+ Perform analysis for financial metrics including ARR, Backlog and RPO disclosure
+ Maintain control documentation for revenue related processes and key controls in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley
+ Research accounting guidance and facilitate technical accounting memos that analyze and conclude on accounting issues and its impact on company financials. Analyze and interpret accounting standards to support new business requirements
+ Identify and implement accounting system improvements in the Revenue area
+ Collaborate with operations management and IT for process improvements
Must have a degree in Accounting or Finance and 3+ years' experience of relevant revenue accounting experience. CPA license is highly preferred and at least 2 years of public company revenue recognition experience.

The Position
The Sr. Accountant, Revenue Recognition is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of revenue in compliance with GAAP and ASC606. This role contributes to the preparation of financial statements, reporting, and internal controls. It involves close collaboration with the accounting team and other departments to provide insights and ensure that the company's financial operations run efficiently. Additionally, this position will serve as a mentor to Accountants.

Essential Functions
+ Manage the monthly revenue close process, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely recognition of revenue in compliance with GAAP, including ASC 606
+ Perform detailed analysis and reconciliation of revenue-related accounts to ensure accuracy in financial reporting
+ Prepare and review journal entries, reports, and schedules related to revenue recognition
+ Work with business teams to ensure proper documentation and understanding of contracts, pricing, and terms for revenue recognition purposes
+ Assist in preparing and supporting audits, working with internal and external auditors to ensure revenue recognition policies are adhered to
+ Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff and help ensure a smooth month-end close process
+ Assist with revenue forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis
+ Continuously improve processes and contribute to the development of more efficient methods for revenue accounting
+ Stay up to date with changes in accounting standards and industry best practices related to revenue recognition
+ Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field of study from an accredited university, required

+ CPA or in-progress CPA, is a plus
