Job Description
**Job Description**
This is a proactive posting for future opportunities that BAE Systems regularly fills. The hiring process may be slightly delayed until the new opening becomes available.
FAST Labs is the research arm of BAE Systems Electronic Systems sector that develops disruptive technologies to tackle the hardest problems in the Defense and Intelligence Communities. We are seeking a Technology Development Manager (TDM) to join the Sonar and Sensor Research (SSR) team within the BAE Systems FAST Labs organization. The ideal candidate will have expertise in one or more of the core technical areas within SSR. These include Acoustic Transducer Development, Advanced Signal Processing, Mission Systems and Payloads, and Underwater Vehicles.
Technology Development Managers partner with Scientists in FAST Labs to lead the design, development, execution, and implementation of algorithms and advanced scientific solutions to complex technical problems. They participate in professional societies, author external publications (like conference papers, presentations, journal articles, and books), develop patents and invention disclosures, speak at external forums, and interact with external partners (industry, government, academia, etc.).
As a TDM within the Sonar and Sensor Research technical area, you will drive key components of the group strategy that, depending on your expertise, may include:
+ Exploitation of innovative transducer geometries and the development of novel active and passive transduction materials to advance the state-of-the-art in sonar transducer technology.
+ Creating and growing opportunities in maritime signal processing and modeling, shaping targeted opportunities in offensive processing and systems, designing innovative algorithms and systems that provide a leap-ahead in ability to detect, track, localize, navigate, communicate, learn, and predict the future in the maritime theater.
+ The design, development, and transition of autonomous maritime mission payloads supporting distributed sensor systems, multi-INT ISR (e.g. acoustics, optical and RF sensing), effects delivery, and seabed, anti-surface, anti-submarine, and mine warfare.
+ The development of customized autonomous maritime platforms for special missions, leveraging our team s specialized facilities and experience developing advanced undersea vehicles.
Technology Development Managers work with peers, scientists, and the program support team within the Autonomy, Processing, and Exploitation (APEX) product line while collaborating with other BAE Systems product lines both inside and outside of FAST Labs. TDMs are the primary lead in external and internal customer engagement to build, win, and execute programs supporting advanced technology R&D and are expected to leverage their position, reputation, and technical expertise to build and maintain relationships with government S&T organizations. Additionally, TDMs help define and advance the group s technical and programmatic roadmaps, while maintaining alignment across the broader product line, business area, and corporation at large.
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a **hybrid work format** , with time split between working onsite and remotely, or an on-site format. Based on multiple factors, remote work may be a possibility for this position, at the discretion of the business.
