We are seeking an HVAC Control Systems Operator (Building Automation System Operator) to join our federal team supporting the Defense University location in Washington D.C.

As a Control Systems Operator , you will:
- Maintain and monitor the performance of the Facility Control Systems. This includes monitoring and managing equipment and system alarms utilizing graphical user interfaces and control system programs
- Validates equipment and system alarms, and creates work orders in the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems for the Technicians to follow up with
- Continuously monitors the Facility Control Systems, primarily using Siemens BAS system to ensure proper operation of all systems and equipment
- Conducts shift turn over meetings when coming on shift and when finishing shifts
- Completes shift reports and logs primarily in Microsoft Word and Excel
- May perform minor maintenance and service on HVAC equipment to include, but not limited to, filter changes, greasing, and other preventative maintenance duties
Required Qualifications:
- Operational Experience working with Siemens Apogee, Siemens Desigo, Tridium Niagara / Honeywell Energy Management Control System (EMCS), Metasys, Distech or other comparable Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Knowledge and competency of HVAC principles
- Knowledge and proficiency using a computer
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Self-starter with ability to work with minimum supervision
- Basic knowledge of safety equipment, requirements for use, and HVAC systems safety procedures and protocols
- The ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances and/or badges as required to perform site duties. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.)
Qualifications:
- Building operator experience, preferably with Direct Digital Controls (DDC) to view, monitor and operate facility control systems
- Knowledge and proficiency working with Siemens Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Experience working with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for creating work orders
- HVAC mechanical maintenance and service experience.

**Position Summary:**
Responsible for operating equipment in department safely and producing quality products per documentation. Perform quality checks, changeovers, SAP data entries, and basic troubleshooting. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.
**Duties/Responsibilities:**
+ Work as one of a team for maximum effectiveness and optimal task methods, which includes product inspection, operating equipment, raw material and finished goods movements and clean room area and equipment cleaning / sanitizing
+ Perform visual inspections
+ Perform basic troubleshooting of equipment
+ Perform changeovers, line clearance and cleaning

Our Team
The Water / Wastewater Treatment Shift Operator will work under the supervision of the utilities/power supervisor. This position will work in the potable water and wastewater compliance areas. The selected individual must be a minimum certified "D" level Water Treatment Operator.
The shift operator will perform a variety of tasks in the operation of INVISTA's water and wastewater treatment plants. Technical guidance will come from the Water Treatment / Wastewater Treatment Lead operator.
This is a 12-hour rotating shift that includes days, nights, and weekends with alternating 48-hour and 36-hour work weeks. Based on a 28-day cycle, the average time off is 14 days per cycle.
What You Will Do
- Safe, compliant, and economic operation of systems in the Water / Wastewater / Utilities areas
- Take necessary corrective action steps during shifts to maintain processes within the specified operating parameters
- Read gauges and meters, start and stop equipment, operate valves to route and control flows, determine and set proper chemical dosages and flow rates
- Calibrate and perform predictive maintenance on laboratory and field equipment as required, and perform minor preventive maintenance and inspections on mechanical equipment
- Collect samples and perform routine laboratory and field analysis as required
- Record data for all analyses performed and enter data into required computer applications, as well as maintain daily logbooks and bench sheets
- Assist with belt press operations, unloading various bulk chemical tankers, job safety analysis, and safe work permitting for maintenance and contractors
- Work effectively within a team environment to include internal, external, and regulatory personnel
- Troubleshoot water and wastewater treatment-related problems while having decisive and timely action in response to treatment, production, utility, and environmental upsets
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Previous experience using MS Office (Word and Excel), including creating and formatting spreadsheets, workbooks, and charts
- Minimum "D" Level Water Treatment Certification for the State of South Carolina
- Valid State of South Carolina driver's license or the ability to obtain one
- This role is not eligible for Visa sponsorship
What Will Put You Ahead
- "A" "B" C" or "D" level Biological Wastewater Treatment license
- "C" level Water Distribution license
- 30 hours of college credits in math or science
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be able to work a 12-hour rotating shift to include weekends and holidays, as well as overtime depending on business needs
- Must be willing and able to meet on physical requirements for the role (i.e., climb ladders and stairs, wear appropriate PPE, work in outside and inside conditions, and be able to open and close various-sized industrial valves

As a **Production Operator** , with directions from the Lead and Supervisor, you will produce various food ingredients, learn good manufacturing practices, and how to follow standardized formulas for weighing, measuring, and mixing raw materials. Our 3rd shift operating hours are Sunday - Thursday, 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM. Our Production Laborers play a critical role in food defense and food safety.
**Your Key Responsibilities:**
- Loading and unloading of materials.
- Packaging of finished products.
- Operate forklift and material handling equipment.
- Cleaning of machines and facilities.
- Employees holding this position play a critical role in food defense and food safety. It is the responsibility of the employee to alert upper management to any food safety issues or concerns that they may encounter.
- Play a critical role in assessing raw materials for conformance and consistency.

**You Bring:**
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Must be 18 years old to work in a plant job.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50lbs. as needed throughout the shift
- Basic computer skills
- Experience using SAP preferred.
- At least one year production or food service experience preferred
- Due to the nature, the position requires the ability to wear PPE (personal protective equipment) including hard hat, eye protection and in some cases other area specific PPE needs (e.g. ear protection, respirator)
The hourly wage scale provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant's job-related skills, experience, relevant education, or training, and primary work location. The hourly wage is $23.00.
