MAA is currently accepting applications for the position of Airfield Painter (Skilled Trade Specialist II) within the Office of Grounds Maintenance (OGM) at the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport).
The Skilled Trade Specialist II, Painter positionwill be responsible for painting airfield markings per FAA Advisory Circular (AC) 150/5340-1L and performing all types of preventive and corrective maintenance and repair on all grounds, fence lines, taxiways, runways, ramp areas, roadways, grass areas within the surrounding areas of the BWI Thurgood Marshall and MTN State campus.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Painting on runways and taxiways using equipment such as walk behind paint machines, intermediate paint machines for enhanced centerlines, and a large, specialized paint truck for runway centerlines, thresholds, touchdown zones, etc.
- Turf management, Asphalt, and concrete repair, and FOD removal using various types of equipment for the specific task.
- Operate Snow Removal Equipment for training exercise, maintenance, or weather emergency
- Escorting contractors on airfield and maintain communications with FAA Air Traffic Controllers.
This position is located at the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport in Anne Arundel County, MD.
Qualifications
Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience : Three years of experience performing skilled trade work in one of the following areas: plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, locksmith, masonry, painting, or welding, depending on the essential job functions performed by the specific position.
Notes:
1. Additional work experience performing skilled trades as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. A certificate from a vocational technical school with a major in one or more of the skilled trades as defined above may be substituted for one year of the required general experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in utilities repair classifications or construction and engineering specialty codes in the skilled trades as defined above field of work, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Nature of Work: This is the experienced level of skilled trade work at the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT). The Town of Fort Myers Beach is seeking a reliable and skilled Stormwater Utility Technician to join our Public Works Department. This hands-on position plays a vital role in maintaining the Town's stormwater systems in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, ensuring the health, safety, and resiliency of our coastal community.
Position Summary
The Stormwater Utility Technician (Skilled Trade) focuses on operating a vacuum truck to clean and maintain stormwater infrastructure, ensuring proper drainage, preventing flooding, and maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The Stormwater Utility Technician is also responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of the municipal stormwater management system to ensure proper drainage and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This position plays a key role in preventing flooding, maintaining water quality, and supporting the community's infrastructure.
Responsibilities and Reporting During an Emergency Situation: If assigned, employees in this classification will be required to report and carry out duties as directed for the duration of an emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES- Perform regular inspections, cleaning, maintenance and repair of stormwater drainage systems ensuring proper functionality.
- Operate a vacuum truck as needed to remove sediment, debris, and blockages from stormwater infrastructure.
- Conduct inspections of stormwater systems to identify areas requiring cleaning or maintenance.
- Perform preventative maintenance on the vacuum truck to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
