What You'll Do:
- Perform overnight sleep studies (PSG, titration, and Home Sleep Apnea Testing) in accordance with AASM standards.
- Monitor and document physiological data while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Educate patients on procedures, equipment, and sleep hygiene.
- Work closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other clinical staff to support personalized treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate records, equipment, and adhere to infection control protocols.
Qualifications:
- Current credential in sleep technology (RPSGT or RRT-SDS) required.
- Associate degree in science or medicine preferred.
- Healthcare Provider CPR certification required (or must be obtained within 6 months of hire).
- Excellent communication, technical, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently during overnight shifts.

This telework role involves reviewing medical records, providing clear rationale for determinations, and occasionally participating in peer-to-peer calls. The position is a 1099 independent contractor role focused on accurate, timely case evaluations within a flexible schedule.
This telework opportunity allows you to customize your schedule and caseload within the week while maintaining client-mandated turnaround times. Our reviewers are compensated on a per-case basis as a 1099 independent contractor.
JOB SUMMARY
Utilizes clinical expertise, reviews insurance appeals, and prospective and retrospective claims. The physician reviewer will provide an interpretation of the medical necessity of services provided by other healthcare professionals in compliance with client-specific policies, nationally recognized evidence-based guidelines, and standards of care.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- All of our physician reviewers are contractors with Dane Street.
- A flat rate is offered for Group Health Record/Policy Reviews.
- Reviews all medical records and addresses each question posed by the client utilizing client-specific criteria or other nationally recognized evidence-based criteria
- Ensures that the rationale for the determination is clear, concise, and contains adequate supporting documentation to substantiate the decision
- Identifies, critiques, and utilizes current criteria and resources such as national, state, and professional association guidelines and peer-reviewed literature that support sound and objective decision-making and rationales in reviews; refrains from using case studies, cohorts, and the like to make decisions due to their limited sample sizes
- Provides copies of any criteria utilized in a review with the report promptly
- Makes telephone calls as mandated by the state and/or client specifics
- Peer to Peer calls may be required. Dane Street will help arrange any Peer to Peer phone calls, if needed.
- The average length of time to review each case is between 15-30 minutes.
- The cases are prepared for you before they are provided for your review.
- Some cases may REQUIRE a short turnaround time meaning some cases may need to be reviewed the same day!
- Returns cases on or before the due date and time
- Maintains proper credentialing and state licenses and any special certifications or requirements necessary to perform the job
- Attends all required orientation and training
- Performs other duties as assigned including identifying and responding to quality assurance issues, complaints, regulatory issues, depositions, court appearances, or audits

Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide the sleep medicine expertise required to maintain a high level of patient care and improve patient access to care.
The sleep medicine physician will work solely in the outpatient environment. The incumbent in this position will work at 1 or more outpatient locations. 90% of the time will be seeing patients and 10% of the time will be providing eConsults to HealthSystem physicians and other administrative work.
The physician will work in a collaborative environment with physicians in other pulmonary subspecialties, as well as other pulmonary advanced practice providers. A full day of outpatient work is seeing approximately patients per day. No inpatient work and no call required.
The incumbent in this position will be required to have a separate appointment as a volunteer clinical faculty. This separate appointment will allow the incumbent to supervise and interact with medical students and residents.

Responsibilities will/may include participation in clinical care, medical education and research. The Division provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Childrens Hospital, other area hospitals and outreach clinic sites in the St Louis Metropolitan area.
- Candidates will be BE/BC Sleep Medicine (BE/BC Pediatrics preferred) providing care for the full spectrum of sleep conditions including Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, restless leg syndrome, insomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, parasomnias and other common sleep disorders.
- Share clinical, research and teaching responsibilities with other faculty in the division.

Candidates should have an interest in academic achievement in pediatric sleep medicine.
