Located in Franklin Township, New Jersey 08873 The Sleep Technician provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders under the general supervision of the Manager, and in collaboration with the Medical Director or designee.

The duties include, but are not limited to:

• Collecting, analyzing, and integrating patient information in order to identify and meet the patient-specific needs and to determine final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols

Qualifications or Education, Training and Experience:

• Successful completion of a one-year polysomnography program, associated with a State licensed and/or nationally accredited educational facility; or a minimum of six months experience as a Polysomnographic Technician with documented proficiencies
• Professional Certification by Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) as Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or equivalent

BLS certification, as recognized by American Heart Association is required

• Conduct Polysomnography Tests: Perform overnight or daytime sleep studies, including setting up and monitoring patients during tests such as polysomnography, CPAP titration, home sleep testing, etc.
• Patient Preparation and Education: Prepare patients for sleep studies, explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and answering questions. Provide guidance on the expectations and what patients can anticipate during the study.
• Monitoring Equipment: Set up and monitor equipment, including EEGs, EMGs, EOGs, ECGs, respiratory sensors, and other monitoring tools to ensure accurate data collection during the sleep study.
• Data Collection and Reporting: Document and record sleep data, noting events such as apnea, hypopnea, oxygen desaturation, and limb movements. Generate reports for review by physicians.
• Follow-Up: Provide post-study support and communication to ensure patients are informed about results, treatment options, and any follow-up actions.
• Patient Comfort and Safety: Ensure patient safety during the study, addressing any concerns or discomfort. Troubleshoot equipment or technical issues as they arise.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, sleep specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure proper patient care and continuity of care post-study.

The Registered Polysomnographic Technologist, of the Institute for the Sleep Center, performs PSG, MSLT/MWT, HST, and PAP titrations on adult patients and children (<5 yrs. old), under the direction of the Director.

Responsible for reviewing patient data in preparedness for a PSG.

Responsible for hooking patient up with electrodes/monitoring equipment needed to records a PSG; and performing pre-PSG equipment calibrations.

Monitors patients throughout the PSG, making notations on patient records every half hour.

Removes electrodes at the end of the PSG and documents post-PSG findings.

Documents dates of completion for each process of interpretation of PSG/CPAP/MSLT/MWT/HST, including charges.

Cleans all equipment as indicated by Infection Control.

Performs inventory on a monthly basis.

Collects data for the monthly Performance Improvement reports.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
