The Senior Research Scientist, Small Scale Manufacturing's principal responsibility is to manufacture batches of intermediates and APIs under cGMP protocols.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This role has a potential to supervise research scientists, and/or mechanical or production technicians.
Responsibilities
+ Execute contract projects independently. Document and report results of development and experimentation to Department Head
+ Develop and evaluate new chemical process technology and methods. Introduce, optimize, validate and support new processes into the laboratory, kilo lab, plant, or pilot plant facility
+ Develop strategies to optimize production processes with respect to yield, quality, throughput, cost and minimization of waste streams. Implement programs as required to optimize processes and resolve issues
+ Prepare laboratory and kilo-scale quantities of materials
+ Provide technical coverage of pilot and commercial scale-up manufacturing as required
+ Find new and better ways of performing job by challenging established procedures
+ Troubleshoot sourcing and/or stock quality issues that may affect production quality or timelines
+ Assist in scheduling regular maintenance for all equipment to ensure that it is maintained according to SOPs including calibrations and any preventative maintenance needed
+ Represent the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects as well as providing answers to questions related to scale-up knowledge, cGMP procedures, and Curia policies
+ Maintain knowledge on previously executed programs to serve as subject matter expert when processes are then transferred to other Curia production facilities. Attend regular meetings for these programs and answer questions related to production and results
+ Manage workload and time to perform multiple projects effectively, and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed on a timely basis
+ Manage all aspects of a cGMP manufacturing campaign, including batch record review, safety evaluations, material procurement, equipment ordering/set up/cleaning and execution of the chemical operations
+ Perform execution of projects within tight timelines to maintain customer and internal demands. This often requires operations outside of a regular 40 hours/week
+ Assist in troubleshooting activities including running additional experiments, data mining, or literature searches
+ Conduct laboratory operations in a safe manner. Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices. Learn the particular hazards associated with all chemical processes that are assigned and take the appropriate precautions to setup equipment properly and execute all operations safely
+ Supervise and train junior staff and/or production or mechanical technicians, as appropriate
+ Write interim and final production reports as required
+ Coordinate production schedule with other departments including Quality Assurance, Analytical services, and Chemical development
+ Create and update cGMP SOPs as needed per guidance provided by quality personnel and Quality Assurance
Qualifications
Education, experience, certification and licensures
Required
+ Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field
+ Minimum 5-8 years' relevant experience with APIs
OR
+ Master's degree in Chemistry or related field
+ Minimum 3-6 years' relevant experience with APIs
OR
+ Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field
+ Minimum 0-3 years' relevant experience with APIs
Knowledge, skills and abilities
+ Chemical Hygiene training
+ Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, internally generated reports and procedures, financial reports and legal documents
+ Ability to read and comply with internally generated SOPs for cGMP compliance
+ Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community
Salary: $93,000/year.

Staffworks is recruiting for a Quality Control Inspector for a growing lumber company in Sherburne, NY!


Hours: 1st shift: 6:00a.m. - 3:30p.m.

2nd shift: 3:45p.m. - 2:15a.m.


The Quality Control Inspector will be responsible for inspecting the pallets of wood to ensure they meet all the specifications on the custom order forms. They will be inspecting the wood to check for quality or "grade" and ensuring cuts are being made to the correct specs.


Qualified candidates must be:

- Very detail-oriented

- Have mathematical skills & be able to measure correctly

- Previous QC experience is required

THE OPPORTUNITY

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor and Lead, this position is responsible for monitoring and ensuring quality control for all garments produced. Communicate with team members when garments are imperfect and need to be redone. Fold, tag, label, box and count garments, records styles and quantities of garments produced and prepare them for shipping. Sewing Experience a must!

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm

Monday-Thursday, 4pm-2am

Starting Wage: $15-$17/hr

A Typical Day (job functions) | Inspect + Sort + Fold + Count + Monitor + Organize

  • Inspect all high post production garments for correct ink/thread colors, proper logo placement, labels and general flaws
  • Maintain Lakeshirts acceptable standard of quality per garment
  • Sort, count and fold garments by size/color/garment style and prepare them for shipping
  • Read and understand work orders and profiles to ensure each account is processed correctly
  • Keep work area clean and orderly
  • Organize work flow
  • Follow safety practices. Identifies problems and works to resolve safety issues as they occur in accordance to OSHA standards
  • Work actively with others to get the job done
  • Use computer programs, such as excel, to access order profile and be able to understand the steps required for each garment
  • Sewing machine experience, sewing labels on garments
  • Other duties as assigned

  • High school education desirable, but not required
  • Basic computer experience required-excel, word, tablet
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Must be reliable, responsible and take direction well
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks for several hours
  • Ability to be stand for 8-10 hours a day
  • Previous production experience preferred, but not required
  • Must be able to efficiently lift 30-50 pound boxes
