**Job Description**
The Wait Staff Lead position is vital to achieving excellent guest service and executing catering events. The Wait Staff Lead is responsible for pulling equipment for event set up, transporting materials and food to the event, setting up the event, serving guests, cleaning up the event, and returning equipment to the catering Department. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by Aramark location based on client requirements and business needs.
**Job Responsibilities**
Leads catering team on all catering functions
Leads preparation banquet room for the function
Serve meals and beverages in accordance with catering protocol and banquet sheets
Accurately set tables for special functions
Load/unload event equipment into catering vehicles, following all safety procedures in compliance with DOT regulations.
Clean all functions areas upon completion
Perform opening and closing side work as needed
Must maintain a professional appearance

This is a seasonal, part-time position with shifts mainly scheduled between August and March. In addition to working SMU Athletics events, you may also have the opportunity to work external events across the Dallas area through Rhino's network of partners.

This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with people and want to gain experience in customer service, event operations, and sports management.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Prior experience in customer service, event staffing, or guest services preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Friendly, positive attitude and professional appearance.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and walk around the venue.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays during the event season (August-March).
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions.

Position Overview

As a Premium Hospitality Event Staff Member at Southern Methodist University (SMU), you will be an essential part of the game day experience, working directly in exclusive, high-end spaces during SMU Football and Men's Basketball home games. These spaces include premium clubs, suites, and donor lounges-areas that cater to VIP guests, high-level donors, alumni, and university partners.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about customer service, enjoy working in fast-paced environments, and take pride in delivering exceptional, detail-oriented guest experiences. You will represent both Rhino Sports and SMU, ensuring that each guest feels valued and supported from the moment they arrive until the end of the event.

Team members in this position play a key role in:

- Upholding a professional and welcoming atmosphere in all premium areas

- Managing guest expectations with grace and efficiency, even under pressure

- Serving as the first point of contact for guests in luxury seating and hospitality areas
