Job Title: Social Work Supervisor

In this role you will also establish policies and procedures that align with the organization's goals and objectives and develop, manage and participate in program events and meetings. This position is a hybrid position which includes opportunities for both virtual work as well as in-office/in-person work.

Summary of Activities and Responsibilities

Program Oversight & Compliance: Maintain and align program policies and procedures with organizational goals; assist the Director in ensuring compliance with licensing and accreditation standards; monitor monthly statistics using both quantitative and qualitative data; and support budget reporting, projections, and recommendations.

Staff Supervision & Development: Supervise and evaluate staff to ensure service quality and meet demand; ensure staff are following and meeting indirect client service requirements such as clinical documentation, administrative, and billing entry requirements; monitor training needs and progress toward individual and team goals.

Client Services & Issue Resolution: Provide direct client services as needed; manage escalated client care issues and resolve complaints.

Strategic Growth & Engagement: Assist with implementing program growth strategies; develop, manage, and participate in program events and required meetings.

Other Responsibilities: Participate in all required meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

In addition to that, each of our Social Work Supervisor's have a specialty that they lead. This positions specialty is Licensing Investigations. As the leader for the licensing investigations team, some of the job duty and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Lead and manage licensing investigations to ensure compliance with state and organizational standards. Coordinate responses to licensing inquiries and document findings thoroughly. Implement corrective actions based on investigation outcomes. Collaborate with leadership to align investigation processes with broader program goals and quality assurance efforts.

Job Requirements

A Master's Degree in Social Work, equivalent degree or combination of degree and experience. Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) licensure strongly preferred Three years of experience in direct service with the target population is desired. A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, access to reliable transportation and a Motor Vehicle Check. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently, be organized and multi-task. Able to apply critical and strategic thinking to problem solve complex matters of concern. Ability to manage complex situations in the direct service of adoptive families.

Iowa Department of Health and Human Services has a current opening for a team member in the Family and Child Well-Being Division. HHS is responsible for working with families who have experienced abuse and neglect. You play a key role in preparing and supporting children and families to be successful. You will also assist families in realizing their full potential by working with them as experts, case planning with team members, and the courts, and connecting families to community resources.

HHS, Family Well-Being and Protection Division, is seeking Child Protection Supervisors (Social Work Supervisors) to plan, direct and supervise a unit of social workers who conduct child abuse assessments and/or provide child welfare services. This is a full-time opportunity, Monday Friday with typical hours being from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM with extra hours as needed including after-hours and weekend on-call rotation. These positions require an in-office presence to your assigned location and travel to various other offices within the Service Area to meet with staff, attend court hearings and meet with clients and families as needed. Mileage is paid at $0.50/mile travelled according to the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) State Accounting Enterprise Procedures. A valid driver's license is required; however, you may request to reserve a state vehicle if available.

This position will be domiciled (work location) in Cedar Rapids and will provide services in that and surrounding counties. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Coordination and implementation of goals and objectives to achieve desired outcomes
  • Clinical supervision around case outcomes to assure the safety of children
  • Communicating and adhering to current policy and procedure affecting the work
  • Assignment work to ensure efficiency in service delivery and equitable workload and approve travel claims, payroll, leave requests and other personnel functions
  • Assigning and monitoring all work schedules, manage overtime allocations, and providing input to administration
  • General supervision around job duties and performance through regularly scheduled individual supervisory conferences
  • Training all new employees and providing regular performance evaluations to all staff at least annually
  • Reviewing and approving all legal documents prior to their submission and assuring staff maintain compliance with Iowa Code
  • Conducting case record reviews to ensure compliance and quality
  • Reviewing worker written work, computer documents, and various other documents to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Use of various forms of technological resources to monitor, track, approve and direct work flow
  • Conducting regular unit meetings
  • Responding to customer and employee inquiries and concerns in a timely manner to assure that issues are resolved
  • Establishing and maintaining working relationships with collaterals and maintaining a working knowledge of community resources
  • On a rotating basis, be available to all staff after hours and on-call as needed providing case consultation, crisis resolution, and approval of emergency removals

Position Summary:

The Sociotherapist Supervisor will provide leadership, supervision, and support to a team of Sociotherapists, who are providing services to youth and families in our Enhanced Family Foster Care Program (EFFC). The Supervisor will work with the Sociotherapists in adhering to ACS, OCFS, and Children's Aid policies to support the safety, permanency, and well-being to all children and youth. This position reports directly to the Program Director. This supervisory position will also coordinate with case planner supervisors to support EFFC practice to make up the interdisciplinary team serving more acute level youth in our program.

Essential Duties:

  1. Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  2. Supervision of Sociotherapists who provide services (advocacy, support, behavior management) during weekly home visits to youth identified with higher acuity needs. Contacts are aimed at promoting educational and vocational goals as well as maintaining stability and well-being in the foster home.
  3. Provide close supervision, training, and guidance to supervisees to ensure safety, and to support permanency and well-being within the foster home settings and independent living environment. Consult with Sociotherapists on individual treatment plans for children, monitor the progression of each case, and update treatment plans as necessary.
  4. Coordinates coverage during staff vacations or makes weekly contacts for any uncovered cases or when there is lack of coverage.
  5. Participates and at times leads Interdisciplinary Treatment Team Meetings for cases that are assigned Sociotherapists. Facilitates collaboration with other units, across departments and with outside providers which may include mental health staff, educational specialists, youth coaches, and health care coordinators to meet the needs of youth and families.
  6. Be trained in the Guide Tree Model to support Sociotherapists implementing evidence-informed and evidence-based interventions in their contacts with youth and families. Additionally, attend weekly consultations to support staff use of the program.
  7. Monitor and track the timeliness of progress note entries to ensure compliance with all ACS guidelines. Enter Supervisory notes in Connections.
  8. Attend agency meetings and trainings as assigned and coordinate appropriate professional development activities to support Sociotherapists in the practice of their role.

Job Summary: The Bronx Transitions Program is a specialized borough-wide prevention program for families challenged by substance use and/or mental health issues. The Social Work Supervisor ensures that clinical casework and case management services provided by the staff meet or exceed expected standards of professionalism and that the prevention program complies with agency and Administration for Childrens Services (ACS) policies and contractual commitments.

Major Duties:

Leadership

  • Work closely with Program Director in overseeing the day-to-day operation of the prevention program.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and supervise varied levels of staff to ensure high-quality performance in all areas including counseling, case management, and accurate and timely documentation.
  • Accompany workers during home visits, safety conferences, Court hearings, and counseling sessions as needed.
  • Respond to internal and external requests for data and case information.
  • Actively collaborate to connect participants to other GSS programs and services as needed and appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Family Services Unit (FSU) staff, Family Court Legal Services (FCLS) staff and other service providers in making safety decisions and ensuring appropriate services.
  • Represent program needs, concerns, and perspective at all required ACS and GSS meetings and trainings.
  • Handle case-related crises with professionalism, urgency, and care, including incidents involving reports to the State Central Registry.

Program Implementation & Development

  • Coordinate intake assessment and case assignment process, including participating in ACS-Child Safety Conference to engage families for intensive services.
  • Participate in Clinical Diagnostic Team Meetings (CDTs) and provide clinical recommendations which meet best case practice standards as well as contractual requirements.
  • Implement and integrate the principles and procedures of Solution Based Casework: assessment, family and individual level outcomes, action plans and documentation and celebration.
  • Facilitate case consultation and offer support and guidance to ensure staff are adhering to the tenets of SBC.
  • Integrate the practices of SBC into every supervisory session.
  • Participate in continued SBC training, coaching and the SBC certification process.

Compliance, Documentation & Data Management

  • Complete monthly supervisory case review notes for each case supervised.
  • Maintain oversight for meeting contractual obligations and mandates, especially performance-based targets, program utilization, and casework contacts.
  • Monitor, review and approve assigned workers cases for day-to-day documentation, including progress notes, FASPs, Court reports, other assessments, and statistical records.
  • Ensure that adequate safety and risk assessments are conducted for all children and families.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluation reviews of direct reports and evaluate workers training needs, providing individualized assistance and referrals for training.

Qualifications :

  • Master's in Social Work Required or Masters in Related Field Required.
  • NYS Licensure is preferred LMSW; LMHC; LCAT
  • Three years of related supervisory experienced Required. Child Welfare Setting is preferred
  • Must have strong organizational, administrative, interpersonal, and clinical skills
  • Must be able to work at least two evenings per week in order to provide supervisory support

The Sociotherapist Supervisor will provide leadership, supervision, and support to a team of Sociotherapists, who are providing services to youth and families in our Enhanced Family Foster Care Program (EFFC). The Supervisor will work with the Sociotherapists in adhering to ACS, OCFS, and Children's Aid policies to support the safety, permanency, and well-being to all children and youth. This position reports directly to the Program Director. This supervisory position will also coordinate with case planner supervisors to support EFFC practice to make up the interdisciplinary team serving more acute level youth in our program.

Essential Duties:

  1. Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  2. Supervision of Sociotherapists who provide services (advocacy, support, behavior management) during weekly home visits to youth identified with higher acuity needs. Contacts are aimed at promoting educational and vocational goals as well as maintaining stability and well-being in the foster home.
  3. Provide close supervision, training, and guidance to supervisees to ensure safety, and to support permanency and well-being within the foster home settings and independent living environment. Consult with Sociotherapists on individual treatment plans for children, monitor the progression of each case, and update treatment plans as necessary.
  4. Coordinates coverage during staff vacations or makes weekly contacts for any uncovered cases or when there is lack of coverage.
  5. Participates and at times leads Interdisciplinary Treatment Team Meetings for cases that are assigned Sociotherapists. Facilitates collaboration with other units, across departments and with outside providers which may include mental health staff, educational specialists, youth coaches, and health care coordinators to meet the needs of youth and families.
  6. Be trained in the Guide Tree Model to support Sociotherapists implementing evidence-informed and evidence-based interventions in their contacts with youth and families. Additionally, attend weekly consultations to support staff use of the program.
  7. Monitor and track the timeliness of progress note entries to ensure compliance with all ACS guidelines. Enter Supervisory notes in Connections.
