Broadcom's Mainframe Software Division (MSD) is looking for a talented and motivated Software Development Engineer in Test(SDET) with a passion for building high quality applications using agile practices to join our Mainframe Security and Compliance team. The SDET will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automated tests, assessing test automation tools and frameworks, defining testing strategies, and ensuring overall software quality. This role requires strategic planning, leadership in test automation, and active participation in Agile team processes. The ideal candidate has strong programming skills, experience in test automation, and a deep understanding of software development and testing methodologies.

What you will be doing in a typical week:
- Adopt a test-first approach to software development in which, where possible, the test is developed before the code.
- Assess, define, and document test framework(s), including use of technology stack(s) and test automation tools, considering the long-term maintainability of automated testing.
- Establish performance testing baselines and define benchmarking strategies.
- Provide leadership on industry-standard testing processes (e.g., BDD) and develop automated and manual testing strategies.
- Participate in design and code reviews with other engineers.
- Develop comprehensive test plans and facilitate collaborative team reviews to finalize the testing strategy.
- Review and analyze product code changes to design better test cases and strategies
- Define and create pipelines to enable Continuous Testing within Agile teams.
- Write programs, utilities, scripts and pipelines to support the following:
- Testing in various test streams such as Integration, System, Performance, and Compatibility
- Destructive testing and validation of system recoverability
- Boundary and edge case testing
- Load and scalability testing
- Concurrency testing
- Update automated regression tests for newly identified defects where appropriate.
- Maintain the outcome of automated testing, including reviewing and resolving false positives and improving fragile tests.
- Execute manual and exploratory testing as required.
- Identify and mitigate potential security vulnerabilities in the testing process and tools.

Description

They ensure our sites, products, and platforms perform to industry-beating quality levels by designing, developing, and maintaining automated solutions using Python / Pytest that support the development, testing, and deployment of our software solutions. SDET I's may specialize in managing quality within a specific engineering domain (ex: Front-end, Back-end, etc) and are expected to take responsibility for work and follow through on commitments, but proactively reach out for assistance with complex solutioning is expected. What You'll Be Doing
- Maintain product and application expertise through product documentation, internal collaboration, and customer feedback
- Develop test strategies / plans / scenarios and acceptance tests
- Design, build, and execute test cases, including manual and automated frontend / backend tests on one or more application platforms, such as Desktop and Web
- Create and maintain automated tests in Python / Pytest
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and report test results
- Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines
- Actively participate in design and code reviews to design and implement stable, testable, high-quality services and functionality.

What You Bring to the Team
- BS degree in Computer Sciences, programming or a related discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience
