Responsibilities
Responsible for the ongoing maintenance, support, and improvement of software applications after they have been deployed. Their primary role is to ensure that applications continue to operate smoothly, remain functional, and meet users' needs over time. This role is critical in ensuring the application remains efficient, secure, and up-to-date.
- Identify and resolve bugs, glitches, and performance issues within the application. This includes troubleshooting and correcting problems reported by users or through automated monitoring.
- Apply updates, patches, and hotfixes to the software to ensure that it stays current with security standards, compliance requirements, and functionality improvements.
- Continuously monitor the performance of applications to ensure they run efficiently. This can involve looking at speed, response time, and overall system resource usage.
- Provide technical support to users experiencing difficulties with the application. This includes answering queries, resolving technical problems, and providing advice on optimal use.
- Implement minor improvements or enhancements to the application as requested by stakeholders or users. This may involve adding new features, adjusting existing functionality, or improving user experience.
- Maintain proper documentation related to application processes, fixes, updates, and troubleshooting methods. This ensures that future maintainers or team members can easily understand the current state of the application.
- Ensure that the application adheres to security standards and best practices, including protecting against vulnerabilities and keeping security features up to date.
- Ensure that the application is compatible with new operating systems, browsers, and hardware updates. They might also need to ensure compatibility with other software or services the application integrates with.
- Implement strategies to back up data and ensure disaster recovery plans are in place to restore application services if needed.
- Collaborate with development teams to understand the application's architecture and codebase, especially when changes or fixes are needed that require programming expertise.
- Help manage changes to the application by planning and executing them carefully to avoid disruptions, including proper testing, approval processes, and version control.

Qualifications- TS/SCI with Polygraph level clearance is required.
- BA/BS and 3+ years of experience; Masters and 1+ years of experience; an additional four years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Proficiency in programming languages used in the application (e.g., Java, C#, Python) and familiarity with the application's technology stack (e.g., databases, web frameworks).
- Ability to quickly diagnose issues and identify solutions.
- Ensuring that every aspect of the application is functioning as expected and catching even minor issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively with users and stakeholders about problems, updates, and fixes.
- Ability to handle maintenance schedules, priorities, and work with different teams (e.g., developers, support, IT) to coordinate efforts.

Orbital Sidekick is establishing a space-based infrastructure of HSI sensors and analytic capabilities to enable real-time monitoring, detection, and risk management.
As a Senior Ground Software Operations Engineer reporting to our VP of Payload Engineering and working closely with our Analytics and Software teams, you will help build out the tools, processes and products critical to our customers success.
- Design software architecture that supports efficient upload and download of tasking and imagery data
- Efficiently model tasking scenarios for a constellation of hyperspectral satellites
- Perform trade studies on orbit positioning and maneuvers to maximize satellite coverage
- Interface with the operations and software team to successfully execute targeted tasking with multiple space-based sensors
- Write and maintain a modeling and simulation codebase that is used by multiple teams
- Work with the OSK product team to deliver a high fidelity constellation tasking tool from simulation to execution
- Develop and tune a scheduling algorithm for a constellation of hyperspectral imaging satellites
- BS in Computer Science or Aerospace/Mechanical/Astronautical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in the Aerospace/Space/Software industry
- Experience in verification of tasking plans and spacecraft health and status
- Strong proficiency in Python and/or C++
- Firm understanding of Linux/Unix Operating System commands for scripting and commanding
- Experience using software APIs to receive and send telemetry data
- Excellent foundations of software architecture, interface design, distributed systems, and testing patterns
- Strong communication skills with other disciplines and engineers
- MS in Computer Science/Aerospace/Astronautical Engineering
- Practitioner-level experience with Cloud Infrastructure (AWS, GCP, etc)
- Health and Status monitoring of satellite software systems experience
- Knowledge of orbital mechanics and pointing/control algorithms for spacecraft

Attend/Hold business discussions surrounding support of Zelis Payments systems
Identify/resolve issues related to malformed or misconfigured data
Partner with Support Engineers for creation of reports and files for disbursement to payers and providers
Participates in Maintenance/Release activities; develops maintenance windows, brings Applications up and down; performs release verification; maintains internal/external notifications throughout
Communicate with clients and channel partners for production resolution/ticket closure
Continually monitor and maintain security measures
Maintain awareness of and ensure adherence to Zelis standards regarding privacy
Builds strong, trusting team relationships within the Operations Department and across the organization, System Support, Development Support, DBA/SQL, Client Services and Quality Assurance to maintain client satisfaction

Position Overview
The Software Applications Operations Engineer will be responsible for investigating and resolving issues associated with all operational aspects of the Zelis payment processing systems and applications.The Software Applications Operations Engineer position will work 2 pm - 10 pm EST.
What You'll Do:
Performs daily administrative tasks such as working with daily check lists.
Support all operational aspects of the Zelis payment system, inclusive of monitoring the system to ensure accurate file import and export
Maintain ticket queue, ensuring incoming requests and issues are addressed in a timely manner
Attend/Hold business discussions surrounding support of Zelis Payments systems
Identify/resolve issues related to malformed or misconfigured data
Partner with Support Engineers for creation of reports and files for disbursement to payers and providers
Participates in Maintenance/Release activities; develops maintenance windows, brings Applications up and down; performs release verification; maintains internal/external notifications throughout
Communicate with clients and channel partners for production resolution/ticket closure
Continually monitor and maintain security measures
Maintain awareness of and ensure adherence to Zelis standards regarding privacy
Builds strong, trusting team relationships within the Operations Department and across the organization, System Support, Development Support, DBA/SQL, Client Services and Quality Assurance to maintain client satisfaction
Work on complex assignments requiring judgment and initiative in order to resolve problems and making recommendations
Assist in reconfiguring Production processes when primary components fail
Assist with ensuring production documents are complete, current and stored appropriately
Assist in training other Operations Analysts regarding standard operating procedures, internal applications, and project knowledge
What You'll Bring to Zelis:
3+ years experience applications operational support OR 2+ years experience healthcare industry experience
Must work rotational on-call 1 time every 4 weeks
Must have an understanding of application code and SQL
Experience ensuring seamless system operations; inclusive of backend processing, payment routing, and processing and security measures
Ability to work shifts (includes nights, weekends, holidays) in a 24x7 environment as needed
Experience monitoring and troubleshooting payment/transaction-based application systems
Solid troubleshooting and investigative skills
