Here's how a(n)Solar Field Engineer Internfor our Solar USA office contributes to our team:
**Responsibilities**
+ Assists Field/Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Superintendents
+ Conducts safety audits and quality audits
+ Reads and understands drawings and specifications
+ Logs submittals and process RFI's
+ Assists with surveying and project layout
+ Maintains and updates field drawings, field equipment and records
+ Assists with coordinating subcontractors, vendors, and field staff
+ Attends relevant project meetings
+ Prepares memos, letters, meeting minutes, contracts, and other forms and documents
+ Assists with project documentation requirements
+ Assists with estimating and soliciting subcontractors and/or suppliers for information and pricing
+ Performs other duties as assigned
**Qualifications**
+ Currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a degree relevant to the construction industry (e.g. construction management, construction engineering, construction technology, etc.)
+ Desire to pursue a career in Solar/Renewable Energy and construction project management, field supervision, or estimating.
+ Proof of eligibility to work in the United States and 18 years of age or older
+ Possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation to travel to and from the job site
+ Able to work full time from May to August in OH or other states where our construction projects are located (a monthly housing allowance will be provided to selected candidates who are working in an area different from their residence)
+ Able to navigate through a construction site on a daily basis, climb ladders and stairs
+ Employment with PCL is contingent upon passing a criminal background check and substance abuse test conducted by a third party
The salary range for this position is between $18 and $24 an hour. PCL Intern wages are determined individually for each student based on the number of completed school terms, relevant work terms, kind of role and work location.

**Position Specific Description**
Under direct supervision, this intern applies diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to broad variety of assignments and related fields. Acts as a single point of contact for projects for the department. Develops knowledge and skills within a specific practice area. Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with few complex features. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and engineer utility-scale and commercial solar PV systems.
- Conduct detailed energy yield assessments and performance modeling.
- Select appropriate solar equipment, including PV modules, inverters, and mounting systems.
- Develop comprehensive electrical system designs, including single-line diagrams and wiring schematics.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards (NEC, IEC), and client specifications.
- Collaborate with project development teams on site suitability and interconnection studies.
- Provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases of projects.
- Review and approve contractor submittals related to electrical systems.
- Stay current with advancements in solar technology and industry best practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge development.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in solar PV system design and engineering.
- Proficiency with solar design software (e.g., PVSyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD).
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, AC/DC circuits, and power systems.
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and relevant international standards.
- Experience with energy storage systems integration is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.
- Experience with utility interconnection processes.
