The Live Sound Engineer is primarily responsible for assisting with the setup, loading in, operation, and loading out of concerts and shows, with a specific focus on sound reinforcement as needed. The Atlanta Symphony and Symphony Hall Live produce this role.
In addition to sound duties, the Live Sound Engineer supports and collaborates with stage and operations personnel in day-to-day operations. The engineer will work closely with the Artistic Director, personnel, and other members of the operations staff to achieve and uphold the high artistic standards of the Atlanta Symphony and Symphony Hall Live performances, both at home and on tour.
This is a full-time, year-round position based on the schedule of the Atlanta Symphony and Symphony Hall Live.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the Following:
- Event-to-event sound coordination: responsible for adjusting and resetting the sound system between different types of events (e.g., Live shows, classical concerts, education/FAM programs) to maintain consistency and readiness.
- Cross-departmental communication: This person should be able to coordinate directly with departments like Education and others that may not have sound knowledge, helping to bridge technical gaps specific to each performance need.
- Read and follow paperwork and instructions to prep and maintain the audio system
- Assist in safe rigging for and focus on loudspeakers and other equipment
- Attend rehearsals, sound checks, concerts, and events as assigned
- Complete preshow equipment checks and operates live sound when assigned

Summary:

- Serve as primary audio engineer and board operator for selected events.

The Role:
- Responsible for ensuring the success of show and event productions by performing the technical aspects related to the show(s) production. Assist in all on-site audio operations. While providing excellent professional service.

- Oversee and operate systems pertaining to audio throughout the entire venue

- Maintain a relationship with local & National Audio Vendors Maintenance and repair of sound, light and stage equipment
- Assist production crew with stands, microphones, cables, etc.

- 3 years minimum Tour and Stage Production experience.
