The Strategic Sourcing Group at ITW Smart Components North America is seeking a passionate, driven, and intellectually curious Sourcing Engineer to drive impact and deliver results. Strategic Sourcing is responsible for all direct materials purchased. We develop partnerships with our internal engineering, innovation teams and our suppliers to deliver high-quality products.
This position will lead supplier relationships, define category and supply base strategy, manage and negotiate Product Supply Agreements and related contractual executions, influence the technology roadmap, lead supplier negotiation and selection, drive continual cost optimization and ensure continuity of supply.

**Job Responsibilities**
+ Secure components and/or services in the assigned categories that will provide competitive advantage in both technology and cost for ITW.
+ Deliver aggressive costing and budget projections, with the ability to standup to rigorous opposition and drive alignment with the leadership team
+ Drive change management to continuously improve efficiency, yield and performance via VA/VE projects, competitive tension, and risk mitigation
+ Manage the supply base end-to-end from inception to end-of-life to ensure continuity of supply with the right materials driving plan in place.
+ Work with a cross functional team to drive the supplier selection process and component qualification both under engineering and commercial best practices/disciplines.
+ Serve as key escalation channel responsible for continuity of supply risks (lifecycle, lead time/availability, sole sourcing, financial, supplier selection, warranty, etc.). Track commodity shortages, price increases, Force Majeures, and other events to ensure supply continuity.
+ Where appropriate, protect ITW's long-term interest with formal contracts or agreements between ITW and its suppliers.
+ Acquire and maintain understanding of product purchases, knowledge of the supply base and product cost
+ Lead supplier RFQ process, conducting supplier analysis to ensure that competitive pricing, continuity of supply risk mitigation, delivery, quality, and lead time is being achieved
+ Partner with internal teams throughout the Product Opportunity Development (POD) to manage BOM cost for outsourced components and assemblies, with focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
+ Lead/ Participate in meetings to ensure key customer deliverables are being met (cost, lead time, etc.)
+ Forecasts price trends and their impact on current and future price.
+ Participate in supplier audits and supplier material qualification activities as needed
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree, preferably in an Engineering, science-based discipline, Business or Supply Chain-related field or equivalent experience
+ Minimum of 4 years of work experience in direct material sourcing, supply chain, engineering, or operations capacity
+ Familiarity with the Strategic Sourcing Process and experience in project management
+ Familiarity with automotive APQP and change management processes
+ Ability to work in a decentralized organization
+ Knowledge and experience in Design for Manufacturing and VA/VE are desired
+ Fast learner that demonstrates strong business acumen and strong communication skills
+ Advanced skills in Excel and MS Office
+ An understanding of manufacturing practices and the ability to understand automotive product specifications and features are essential for success in this position.
+ Willingness to travel domestic / international 25%
**Compensation Information:**

We are seeking a **Sourcing Engineer,** with a bachelor's degree in engineering, and experience identifying and qualifying new or alternative suppliers to mitigate risks associated with components and suppliers. This position involves translating clinical feedback into actionable design and engineering changes, supporting design improvements, and new product development in collaboration with suppliers for medical and surgical products.

JOB SUMMARY
What you will do in this role:
+ Support all phases of supplier development & negotiation with practical working knowledge of commodity manufacturing processes.
+ Support complex supply chain optimization involving multiple technologies, suppliers, and manufacturing processes.
+ Perform supplier evaluations, development, qualification, and selection to meet commodity, production, and supply strategies.
+ Identify and communicate sourcing risks throughout the product cycle to mitigate supply risk.
+ Closely partner with leadership to identify potential new sources to support business objectives.
+ Work with sourcing, quality and suppliers to ensure appropriate specifications are developed for components and assemblies.
+ Learn and apply understanding of manufacturing technologies, knowing the advantages/disadvantages of various manufacturing methods for different commodity types, manufacturability, and relation to design specifications, traceability, and process control.
+ Understanding or aptitude to learn the product categories assigned and how end-users interface with the products
+ Track and manage improvements in procured component supply risk, quality, material cost, and lead time.
+ Manage and coordinate all sourcing project deliverables in support of supply improvements.
+ Ability to plan and execute project timelines for assigned categories, with guidance from manager.
+ With guidance and oversight from manager, individual must be able to use knowledge about supplier to execute strategies, create leverage, and mitigate risks.
+ Under supervision, the individual is responsible for the sourcing process for their assigned portfolio. Including market research, bid preparation, RFI/RFP, contract negotiations, and contract launch.
+ Oversee supplier relationship during the sourcing process. Lead supplier business reviews and review new products/technologies as they arise in assigned categories.
+ Own supplier related issues through to resolution and provide recommendations for replacement should resolution not be possible.
+ Collaborate with multiple functions across various time zones in a professional, well-organized and results-oriented manner.
+ Meet/exceed timeline, financial and operational goals in the annual plan.
What you will need for this role:
+ Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required.
+ 3 - 5 years of relevant work experience (product lifecycle, design, vendor management, translating clinical feedback into actionable design and engineering changes, supporting design improvements, and new product development in collaboration with suppliers.)
+ Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%
+ Healthcare experience is a plus!

As a part of supply chain management, the Sourcing Engineer will work closely with our R&D and PLM team to work with existing technology partnerships in the optical component market to enable technology and product advancement and sustainable growth with cost effective solutions within our Optical Solutions business unit. This is an opportunity for an individual to develop and evaluate optical, mechanical and electrical components and technology partners.

What You Will Do

  • Responsible for Wavelength Management product lines; explore and identify technologies and optical components suitable for existing and next gen inter- and intra- hyperscale datacenter and telecommunication market.
  • Provide technical guidance to supply chain management teams on passive optical components and providing sourcing needs for PLM and Engineering leaders.
  • Act a technical and commercial liaison for NPD and NPI projects between vendor and Molex Engineering/PLM teams on technology assessment, specifications, schedule, capacity, price, commercial terms and agreement with the support of Molex global and optical Supply Chain Management team.
  • Work closely with Global teams, especially Zhuhai, China purchasing and production teams to coordinate component supply from small volume built to mass production .

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Optical, Electrical, Mechanical, Materials and other Engineering or Physics areas.
  • At least 2 years of experience with optical products and components through education or work experience
  • Experience understanding the product development lifecycles
  • Must be able to speak Mandarin

For this role, we anticipate paying $90,000 - $125,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
