The Designer II will focus on and elevate UA Footwear. Although a primary focus will be on Footwear design, this individual will also have opportunities to touch all parts of the brand and have access to the latest technologies and innovations. **Your Impact**
+ Work directly under category design director to design and manage multiple product platforms that answers product and merchandising brief, price point and margin target. Collaborate with cross-functional design partners on signature, amp pack and special collections
+ Develop and execute clear and detailed sketches, technical packages, and bill of materials
+ Work within an integrated team of design, development, and product line management; act as key point of contact at pod meetings, lab dip approvals and fittings. Make key decisions related to product and procedures
+ Lead creation and presentation of category content (merch pages, decks, mood boards, trim and fabric boards)
+ Present work to leadership at key milestone meetings including style design review and go to market; present regularly to cross functional partners at design check points
+ Oversee design and color updates; flat sketches, techpacks and bill of materials
+ Influence category policies and procedures related to design
+ Mentor and coach junior level teammates
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree with typically 5 years of relevant experience or Master's degree with typically 3 years of relevant experience or typically 9 years of relevant work experience without degree.
+ Passion every day to design compelling and cutting-edge product.
+ Ability to understand construction and materials; preferably versed in manufacturing techniques.
+ Ability to express concepts and ideas through sketching.
+ Presentation skills and comfortable working with a group.
+ Must be detail oriented, able to prioritize tasks and to successfully meet multiple deadlines
+ Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
**Workplace Location**
+ **Location:** This individual must reside within commuting distance from our **Portland, Oregon or Baltimore, Maryland** office.
+ **Work Schedule:** This role follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring 3 days in-office per week through September 5, 2025. Beginning September 8, 2025, the in-office requirement will increase to 4 days per week.

**Base Compensation**
$90,387.44 - $124,282.73 USD
Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position. As a **Lead** **Materials** Designer in **NIKE KIDS FOOTWEAR DESIGN** , you will be working hand in hand with a large project team of different professionals (engineers, researchers, scientists, marketing, testing, sustainability, materials, costing, etc.), collaborate within the design community (external partners, High Energy Collab partners, industrial designers, materials, color, graphics, computational, etc.), and mentor other designers. This role reports directly to the **Design Director Kids Performance and Lifestyle** .
**WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR**
We're looking for an exceptional **Lead** Footwear Materials Designer to combine their experience, creative problem-solving abilities, and creativity to help create the future of Nike Footwear Materials. The category you will be working in is the **Kids Footwear team** . This is a creative and collaborative partnership space that draws in our youngest athletes, drives energy and helps fuel the brand. Our consumer are fearless and wants product that match their attitude and style. The ideal person would need to bring trend right solutions with Nike DNA as the filter. The ideal teammate will be a highly creative problem solver. This is someone who thrives on a budget, someone who doesn't settle for anything less than the best design and materials solutions, to meet the needs of the collaborator and consumer on and off the court, pitch or field. They'll be focused on elevating the consumer experience by creating materials that are performance and trend-relevant for a range of products while driving an emotional connection to materials for the consumer through the use of strong narrative and emotive storytelling and by pushing the edges of sustainable footwear material design.

+ Bachelor's degree in Design, art or related field; fashion design, product design, industrial design, accessory and footwear design, or textile design. Will also accept master's degree in fashion design, product design, accessory and footwear design, industrial design, or textile design. 2 years' additional experience crafting innovative products in lieu of a degree or equivalent combination of education, experience or training
+ 5+ years' experience designing and developing innovative footwear and other products
+ Passion for Design
+ Knowledge of form, color, materials, human factors, trend, related to elevating the consumer experience
+ Ability to translate consumer knowledge and insights into product solutions and narratives
+ Fearless Calculated risk taker
+ Experience in technical footwear or apparel design
+ Experiencing building 3D samples and crafting mockup samples by hand
+ Ability to present new insights or seasonal concepts to small and large groups
+ Proficient in creating and editing files using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop skills.
+ Adobe Creative suit is a plus
+ Must be able to build accurate 2D technical drawings (tech packs)
+ Cobbling and prototyping skills are a plus
+ 3D design program experience is a plus
+ Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials
+ Knowledge and experience with sustainable design and manufacturing are a plus
+ Experienced with presentation programs: Keynote, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.
