Key Responsibilities:

We are looking for a motivated Electrical Engineer to join our System Engineering department at Columbia Generating Station. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in electrical engineering, prior experience in nuclear power or other industrial facilities, and excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
**POSITION OVERVIEW**
1. Proactively manage system performance to meet safety, production, and cost goals, preventing critical equipment failures and improving system reliability and availability.
2. Maintain System Health Reports and develop and implement performance monitoring plans for assigned systems.
3. Perform regular system walkdowns to monitor system condition and performance, documenting findings and ensuring any issues are addressed promptly.
4. Optimize preventive maintenance strategies based on maintenance history, OEM recommendations, and industry operating experience.
5. Initiate and evaluate projects or design changes to improve equipment reliability, supporting long-range planning and system life-cycle management.
6. Review plant and industry operating experience for applicability to assigned systems, providing technical assistance for regulatory responses and participating in industry groups.
7. Provide system work priorities for online and outage work, communicating the need to accomplish emergent tasks and recommending work for inclusion or deferral.

**GENERAL SUMMARY**
Provide independent engineering service and support to perform highly complex engineering tasks requiring specialized skills and broad experience in the application of engineering fundamentals in support of the design modification, operating, and independent assessment of Energy Northwest facilities. **PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES**

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university and seven years of engineering experience; OR a high school diploma or GED and PE license obtained by accredited examination plus eight years of engineering experience.
**Senior Engineer**
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and three years of discipline specific engineering experience; OR a PE license obtained by an accredited examination and five years of discipline specific engineering experience. High school diploma or GED is required.
**Staff Engineer**
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and at least one year of engineering experience; OR a PE license obtained by accredited examination and at least one year of engineering experience. A high school diploma or GED is required.

+ Transient Ride Through and Dynamic Performance Studies (DPS) and other Design Studies using the Offline Simulation Tools
+ Overall System Performance Assessment Study
+ Integration of dedicated studies for systems utilizing combined AC power sources; AC power sources include conventional generations, AC-BESS, turbines, and renewables.
+ Expertise in frequency and time-domain simulation tools, like PSCAD, PSS/E, ETAP, DigSilent PowerFactory, to perform system studies as detailed above or under desired characteristics section.
+ Produce detail technical specifications and factory acceptance test criteria for major HV equipment, e.g., transformers, GSU, breakers, disconnect switches, etc.
+ Excellent technical communication skills to provide guidance, analysis and reports in clear succinct manner to customers, project team and stakeholders.

+ Minimum 8 years' experience of network or transient studies for conventional electric-energy generation / FACTS / renewable energy / inverter-based power systems in offshore wind, industrial, utility substations and grid interconnects.
+ Able and willing to travel 20% including international and comply with GE travel guidelines.
**Desired Characteristics:**
+ Knowledge of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) compliance requirements and/or ISOs' interconnection or transmission planning guidelines.
+ Familiarity with NERC standards such as TPL, MOD, and PRC.
