RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:
Implements strategies to achieve the goals for the organization and case management and job development activities. Sustains policies, procedures and programs. Typically works on projects and tasks that span 3 - 12 months.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
1. Project and Change Management: Effectively plans and manages own work to reliably complete routine job responsibilities and special assignments. Periodically serves as a team member or subject matter expert on formal or department projects. Effectively engages in change affecting her/him, communicating appropriately with supervisor. Follows through on learning, skill building, and practice necessary to adapt to change.
2. Problem Solving: General supervision, regular review of work by manager or senior coworker. May be paired with senior team member for development purposes. Uses skills to solve problems of routine complexity; able to identify root cause, interpret data, and resolve issues.
3. Technical Skills: Fundamental knowledge of professional principles and skills. Works in compliance with established procedures.
4. Community Engagement: Serves as an ambassador for Goodwill in the wider community. Participates in volunteer opportunities as schedules and interest permit.
5. Act as liaison with employers, union, public and private employment agencies and other Goodwill staff to develop job opportunities that match both business and job seekers needs.
6. Support clients in job searching and placement. Establish and maintain working relationships with employers, industry organizations, and public agencies to source job openings and secure employment and vocational training opportunities for clients.
7. Develop, implement and monitor Individual Service Plans. Establish mutually-agreed and appropriate goals for each individual consumer.
8. Evaluate individual's background, skills, and interest and match to potential job openings or training programs
9. Orient newly hired consumers to the company's policies, procedures, products, services, standards, fringe benefits, and opportunities.
10. Process and maintain in a timely manner, all necessary records and data including Monthly Progress Reports, computer entries, placement, follow-up and status change data, and Employer Job Orders.
11. Provide counseling, guidance and supportive services as needed, including career exploration, personal grooming, personal finance, job seeking, community resources, transitional jobs.
12. Provide weekly orientation to new clients giving overview of Goodwill's services, programs, process and procedures.
13. Provide job retention services that identify behavior or work conditions that are problematic to the individual consumer. Develop a plan to reduce target behavior(s) and remedy the situation.
14. Provide emotional and problem solving/support techniques to individual consumers.
15. Develop and maintain cooperative, professional relationships with all referral sources.
16. Maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
17. Responsible for completing other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Two years of college education or experience equivalency, and a minimum of 1 year experience.
2. Must have a valid Illinois Driver's license.
3. Previous experience working in placement services or case management.

People Generalist
What Youll Do:
You will be responsible for delivering comprehensive and full-cycle HR services across key operational areas. You will play a pivotal role in supporting our team members and managers across multiple aspects of the employee lifecycle. Accurate and efficient payroll, recruiting, employee relations, employee engagement, leave administration, and HRIS administration will all lead to success in this role.
Payroll
- Manage and process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Liaise with Finance on reconciliations and audits.
Employee Relations
- Serve as a contact for employee inquiries and conflict resolution.
- Support investigations, provide guidance on disciplinary actions, and ensure consistent application of company policies.
Employee Engagement
- Coordinate and execute employee engagement initiatives, appreciation events, and team-building activities.
- Support the development and distribution of internal communications and employee feedback programs.
Leave Administration
- Administer employee leaves including FMLA, parental, disability, and other statutory or company-specific leave programs.
- Communicate policies clearly and ensure accurate documentation and tracking.
HRIS Administration
- Maintain and update employee records in the HRIS system.
- Generate HR reports and support data integrity and compliance.
- Collaborate with IT and vendors on system enhancements and troubleshooting.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience as an HR Generalist with strong exposure to payroll, HRIS, and employee relations.
- Bachelors degree in HR, Business, or related.
- Familiarity with employment laws and HR best practices.
- Proficient in using HRIS platforms.
- Professional, and possess excellent communication skills, as well as self-motivated and energetic.
- Experience with fast-paced, quickly growing companies/industries is required.
- Very highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable.
- Extreme discretion and confidentiality when dealing with business and personal information.

Human Resources Generalist
The Human Resources Generalist will play a key role in supporting daily HR operations, implementing policies and programs, and ensuring compliance with employment laws. This position is responsible for supporting a variety of HR functions, including recruitment, providing new hire orientation, candidate interviewing, benefits administration, employee relations, and maintaining updated employee records. The HR Generalist will also enforce company policies and practices and will be a partner reporting directly to the Director of HR and Culture.
Areas Of Responsibility
Talent Acquisition
- Partner with hiring managers to lead recruitment efforts and support inclusive hiring practices.
- Review job vacancies, post-open job positions, providing training and leading departmental assistance for managers and supervisors.
- Manage the screening process, including collaboration on screening and interviewing.
- Using various channels to source candidates.
- Leading the onboarding process for new hires, connecting them with other staff and providing necessary materials for success.
- Representing the organization at job fairs and recruiting events.
- Initiate background check processes, monitor and ensure they are consistent with Company policy.
- Collaborate with the hiring managers in the onboarding process to integrate new hires into the company culture.
- Conducting onboarding surveys and exit surveys to gauge employee satisfaction and identify areas of improvement.
- Communicating and advocating the companys mission, vision and values to employees.
- Create and implementation of companywide events and programs to enhance company culture, wellness and overall employee retention.
- Identify opportunities to improve employee engagement and retention.
- Foster a culture of innovation, teamwork, customer-centricity and compliance.
- Partner with the Director of HR and Culture, and Committee to support IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility) initiatives, and assist in creating new policies and procedures both departmental and organization levels.
- Maintain HRIS records, generate reports and analyze HR metrics to support decision-making.
- Assist in addressing reported interpersonal conflict in an equitable, fair and timely manner.
- Collaborate with the Director of HR and Culture regarding union employees.
- Interpret and administer the collective bargaining agreement (CBA), ensuring consistent application of its terms and conditions.
- Stay informed about labor laws and regulations to ensure compliance across all HR practices.
- Complete verifications of employment and confirm wage earnings when requested or required.
- Timely respond to all inquiries from employees, managers, and external companies.
- Setup up, maintain and manage employee records in HRIS system for bi-weekly payroll and including the update of status changes.
- Provide support on benefits administration, responding to employee inquiries and escalating complex cases when needed.
- Maintain full confidentiality while adhering to ethical and professional standards.
- All other duties and projects assigned.
- Proficient with using HRIS and talent management systems and Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Accountable for financial decisions within area. Provides input to the budgeting process for the HR department.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- A positive, can-do attitude and commitment to delivering exceptional employee experience.

Salary range: $61,472 - $7,620 with excellent benefit package for full time employees, including medical, dental, vision insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, vacation pay, paid sick time, personal days, Ventra transit benefit program, employee assistance program and 401(k) matching retirement program.

- Champion and demonstrate the museum's Inclusion and Belonging commitment of the museum through HR programs and initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with labor regulations
- Conduct additional trainings in compliance with state and federal mandate and others as assigned.
- Maintain physical and digital files according to HR retention guidelines.
- Conduct audits and data analysis to maintain compliance with required regulatory reports.
- Deliver workforce data to managers to support projects for their departments and teams.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated HR experience.
- HR certification (PHR/SPHR or SHRM CP/SCP) preferred.
- Prior experience in labor relations and/or union negotiations is a plus.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite; Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word required.
- Aptitude for problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication; ability to communicate with all levels of staff.
- Desire to work as a team with a result driven approach.
- Experience in HRIS, recruiting, and payroll systems.
- Language :
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures, etc.

The Human Resource Generalist partners with employees, managers and HR Business Partners in employee relations, project management, and HR administration. This position participates in projects for the Human Resource team, Investigates and brings resolution to employee relations issues that provides fair and consistent treatment to all employees, and in a manner consistent with the company's policies and procedures. Provides HR administrative support on company systems, policies, and procedures. This position reports into the VP, Human Resources.
Key Job Responsibilities
Performance Management
•Answers questions regarding company's policies and procedures.
•Educates managers on legal practices, acceptable workplace behaviors and appropriate counseling methods.
•Conducts intake meetings with employees and managers to identify concerns or complaints involving workplace conduct, performance issues, policy violations, harassment allegations and other complaints.
•Reviews and considers information from all parties and applies understanding of corporate policies, employment law and other regulations.
•Provides guidance on effective ways of resolving employee relations issues and makes discipline recommendations utilizing the company's progressive discipline process.
•Reviews and approves disciplinary action documents.
•Participates in disciplinary action and termination discussions, as needed.
•Escalates HR issues that meet predefined criteria and using judgment to assess risk and sensitivity level.
•Apprises business and HR leaders on the status of issues and concerns being addressed and recommendations or disciplinary actions as appropriate.
Information Management and Reporting
•Ensures utilization of the Employee Relations module to complete and track activity.
•Maintains records and compiles statistical reports concerning employee relations data.
•Analyzes report content and makes recommendations regarding trends.
•Maintains discipline/investigation files according to Encore Standards.
Project Management
•Monitors progress and performance against the project plan to ensure deadlines are met.
•Maintains project documentation and creates/updates process documentation.
•Provides project status updates to the project team and HR Leaders.
•Assists in project planning by compiling/contributing information and recommendations.
•Partners with HR Leadership in coordinating project resources.
•Assists with training and implementation.
HR Administration
•Participates in HR special projects.
•Assists in the maintenance of employee records in the Human Resources Information system (HRIS).
•Runs and prepares reports from HRIS.
•Provides support to employees with Human Resources questions or directs calls to the appropriate contact.
•Acts as point of contact for new employees regarding onboarding, orientation, and assimilation to policies and programs.
•Provides immigration support and interface with vendor and business partners.
•Supports program management for the Human Resources initiatives and processes.
•Assists with off-boarding procedures.
•Performs general office support functions, as needed.
Job Qualifications
•Bachelors degree or equivalent, in Human Resources or related field
•2+years experience in Human Resources

Job Overview:
Under the direction of, and in conjunction with, the Director, Human Resources, coordinate all aspects of the Human Resources function (i.e., benefits administrations, payroll, recruitment, employee relations, compensation, compliance, etc.) to ensure adequate staffing levels, a competitive compensation structure, cost-effective benefit programs, consistent employee relations practices, and effective employee/management development training.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Assist the Director, Human Resources, in defining, developing, and implementing Company policies, practices, procedures, organizational development plans, and manpower objectives.
- Coordinate and implement effective recruiting programs and employment practices to attract and retain quality exempt and non-exempt employees and maintain corporate staffing objectives.
- Initiate, prepare, and maintain Human Resources records, reports, and HRIS.
- Administer compensation programs and structures to assure external market competitiveness and internal equity. Ensure that these compensation programs are administered consistently and equitably throughout the organization through the coaching and counseling of Supervisors/Managers.
- Provides administration support to the Companys 401k committee and Plan Sponsor website.
- Extends support to employees through administrative assistance in enrolling in their employee portal and making changes. Supports the business by running reports, verifying documents for audit purposes, and reconciling weekly reports post-payroll cycles.
- Administer the accuracy and timeliness of insurance billing and enrollment, as well as maintain a current benefits census.
- Review Performance cycles and support management through administrative setup around timelines for team reviews, goals, and change requests after reviews.
- Administer fair and consistent employee relations programs and policies to maximize employee motivation and achieve corporate productivity goals by providing human resources management support and counseling to Supervisors/Managers and employees.
- Assist in implementing and creating course outlines for in-house educational training programs held to increase employee and management awareness of corporate policies and practices, governmental regulations, job-related advancements, etc.
- Assist in the administration of various programs (i.e., legal postings, interview practices, etc.), as well as prepare corresponding reports that assure compliance with governmental laws and reporting regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be Spanish Bilingual
- A bachelors degree in HR Management, Organizational Behavior, or an equivalent field is preferred.
- Min 3+ years of HR Generalist experience, including recruiting, benefits and compensation administration, and employee relations.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment and with plant workers.
- Previous experience handling HR investigations, employee relations, leaves of absence, FMLA, etc.
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Teams, Word, and Outlook).
- Experience with Paylocity HRIS (setting up policies, updating benefits, configuring system).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office environment and some exposure to a manufacturing plant facility onsite. Flexible hybrid schedule based on department in-office assignments.
