Position Summary:
As the Student Ambassador for The Script Internship Program, at Oregon State University, you'll be a key member of our outreach and recruitment team, helping expand access to professional opportunities for underrepresented college students. Reporting to The Contingent's Headquarters Coordinator, you'll work closely with staff and fellow ambassadors to promote the program on your campus through events, presentations, and social media.
This role is ideal for someone who is outgoing, organized, and passionate about equity in education. You'll build relationships with student groups, faculty, and career services, while encouraging at least 40 students from underrepresented backgrounds to apply for the program.

- Encourage at least 40 students from under-represented communities to complete an application, to apply for The Script internship program by January 30, 2026.
- Maintain a log of students contacted and follow up to confirm submitted applications.
- Receive bonus compensation for every application above the required 40 (maximum of 10).
- Post once per month on both Instagram and LinkedIn between October 2025 and January 2026 to promote the program.
- Share links to posts or screenshots to Headquarters Coordinator for tracking.
- The Script team can provide templates.
- Participate in monthly check-ins with Headquarters Coordinator to coordinate recruitment strategies, share feedback, and discuss any roadblocks.
- Submit a short monthly report summarizing outreach efforts, student feedback, and progress toward goals.
- Meetings and reports due by the last Friday of each month from October through January.
Currently an undergraduate student, Freshman-Senior enrolled at Oregon State University.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge:
- Understanding of campus culture.
- Awareness of issues impacting underrepresented students.
- Familiarity with Instagram and LinkedIn and basic content creation strategies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for presenting, networking, and outreach.
- Event coordination and basic public speaking experience, especially in a student or peer-led setting.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines across multiple tasks.
- Basic data tracking and reporting skills (e.g., using spreadsheets or forms to log outreach efforts).

Compensation:
- Base pay: $600 (pro-rated starting in mid-October) + Bonus.
- $50 paid monthly for 4 months (October 2025 - January 2026).

A great tour guide can spark curiosity for a lifetime! Many Oregonians vividlly remember their school field trip to the Capitol- Seeing the rotunda, climbing the stairs to the Gold Man, and learning about their government. You can be a part of those memories!
Visitor Services at the Oregon State Capitol relies heavily on volunteers to facilitate our school, public building, and other tour experiences. Guides share building history, Oregon history, the legislative process, and more.
Not a expert? No problem! We have a robust guide training program. Tour guides are also welcome to pursue professional certification through the National Association of Interpretive Guides to become a Certified Intepretive Guide which is a lifelong endorsement and transferrable through many historic, natural, and cultural sites.
As a guide, you'll gain valuable skills like:
- Public Speaking
- Knowledge of the Legislative Process
- Group logistics
- Interpretive Programming
- Reading your Audience
- Oregon History
And, if you opt to be one of our tower tour guides:
- Stairmaster skills! (Tour guides are not required to climb the tower - this is just an option)
