We are seeking a data science analyst/ biostatistician to use data science tools and methodologies to identify and analyze real-world healthcare data for scientific research in precision medicine. **Responsibilities**
+ Conduct statistical analysis using clinical registry and electronic health record (EHR) data to address research questions related to cardiovascular disease.
+ Collaborate with senior analysts, clinicians, and research teams to refine research questions and develop statistical analysis plans (SAPs.
+ Clean, preprocess, and harmonize clinical data for analysis.
+ Apply and develop traditional and sophisticated analytical methods, including machine learning, deep learning, and other AI-driven techniques.
+ Prepare summary reports, manuscripts, and visualizations for internal and external dissemination.
+ Contribute to the preparation of peer-reviewed journal articles and presentations for scientific meetings.
+ Serve as a technical/topical expert, champion, consultant, and liaison to Association stakeholders and external peers.
+ Attend relevant external conferences, and attend/co-lead consultative sessions with volunteer Task Force and other Association volunteers/experts.
+ Contribute landscape and topical expertise to the development and execution of comms plan/strategies, including networks to engage, written pieces, workshop planning, and publication strategies.

**Qualifications**
+ Master's or PhD degree in data science, biostatistics, biomedical informatics, computer science, statistics, public health, epidemiology, applied mathematics, or a related field (preferred.
+ Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience with R or Python for statistical computing and data analysis.
+ Proven experience in preprocessing and modeling clinical data, especially patient-level data from EHRs or registries.
+ Demonstrated experience in both traditional statistical modeling and machine learning techniques.
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience analyzing real-world patient data in clinical or research settings.
+ Experience writing and executing Statistical Analysis Plans.

**Compensation & Benefits**
The expected pay range will be $75,000 - $85,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.

**The Opportunity**
We are seeking an **Sr Statistical Analyst I** to join our Biometrics team for Abbott Medical Devices. Independently, the Sr Statistical Analyst I will review study protocol, statistical analysis plans, CRFs and edit check specifications; work with biostatisticians and clinical staff to generate analysis datasets, data tables, figures and listings; write and document programs; perform ad hoc programming; and perform QC tasks. May lead a small programming team with 1-3 analysts on a project.
**What You'll Work On**
+ Develop, validate, and maintain complex SAS programs for generating analysis datasets, tables, listings, and figures (TLFs).
+ Conduct quality checks of datasets against source data and validate statistical outputs.
+ Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop ADS specifications and mock shells, in alignment with the team.
+ Collaborate with clinical, regulatory, and data management teams to define data checking requirements and resolve discrepancies.
+ Support regulatory submissions, DMC/CEC meetings, IRB packages, and scientific publications with statistical deliverables.
+ Summarize statistical methodologies and interpret results for internal and external stakeholders.
+ Set up programming environments, manage study folders, and create or modify project-specific macros.
+ Provide statistical expertise to cross-functional teams and departments outside of Biostatistics as needed.
+ Lead or mentor junior programmers, providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support.
+ Ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory standards.

The Statistical Analyst position will use SAS and/or STATA programming skills to create analytical datasets from health care claims, administrative databases, clinical trials, and surveys to construct and standardize outcome measures and other analytical variables through data cleaning and data manipulation, to provide descriptive and analytical reports, and to perform specialized statistical analyses. Statistical Analyst B will be assigned to project that involve multiple and complex databases, requiring advanced SAS skills and more experience in the effective manipulation of large data. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills are needed to support multiple projects led by individual investigators. Statistical Analyst B will serve as a resource to Statistical Analysts A, suggesting programming solutions and sharing their skills in data creation and cleaning.
Job Description

The Statistical Analyst A will use standard SAS and/or STATA programming skills to create analytical datasets from clinical trials, surveys and health care claims, to construct and standardize outcome measures and other analytical variables through data cleaning and data manipulation, to provide descriptive and analytical reports, and to perform specialized statistical analyses. Statistical Analyst B will implement non-routine macros and advanced techniques to merge different datasets and create analysis files from complex databases. Statistical Analyst B will used advanced statistical methods to analyze the data. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills are needed to support multiple projects led by individual investigators.
QUALIFICATIONS: Statistical Analyst A: The minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Math/Statistics, Healthcare Management, Economics or Public Health and 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Statistical Analyst B: The minimum of a Master's degree in Math/Statistics, Healthcare Management, Economics or Public Health and at least 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Both levels: Experience in applying health services research methods through SAS or STATA programming is required. Statistical programming skills are required (strong expert level for B). Prior work experience in academic or research setting in health care is preferred. Prior experience with analyzing clinical trials is preferred. Position contingent upon funding.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct data manipulation, analysis, and reporting mainly for clinical trial datasets.
  • Create and manage analysis data sets (ADaM & SDTM) ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Program and generate tables, listings, and graphs (TLGs) for clear and insightful reporting.
  • Validate and document all SAS programs and associated outputs meticulously.
  • Respond to ad-hoc analysis requests effectively and efficiently.
  • Provide additional analytical services as needed to support team goals.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a minimum of 12+ years of SAS programming experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech sector.
  • Extensive CDISC expertise with a focus on SDTM & ADaM standards.
  • Proficient in interpreting specifications and translating them into actionable programming tasks.
  • Experience in developing both source and validation programs using SAS for ADaM & SDTM datasets, as well as for constructing comprehensive TLGs for various studies/products.
  • Knowledgeable in integrating data across multiple studies or drug development programs effectively.
  • Advanced experience in creating and utilizing system-level macro programs.
