Seeking a Structural Engineer to join our expanding professional design services team in Memphis, TN. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of relevant design engineering experience and an eagerness to learn, collaborate, and innovate. The successful candidate will be involved in designing structural support systems for various buildings across different markets and locations, providing ample opportunities to enhance their expertise in building systems design. PRIMARY PURPOSE: To investigate events, systems, devices and/or failures and provide expert opinions; to provide guidance and leadership ethically and scientifically on complex engineering assignments; to contribute to overall profitability of the company through providing expert/engineering consulting services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare design calculations for projects using local approved codes.

• Structural analysis of projects using a variety of analysis software.

• Model structures and create structural framing plans, sections, and details using Revit

• Visit sites to assist in documenting and measuring existing framing conditions.

• Meet with clients and other consultants to coordinate the structural design work for projects.

• Design components of buildings such as timber framing, concrete framing, masonry framing, light gauge framing, and steel framing and connections.

• Perform structural engineering design and prepares design and construction documents.

• Coordinate structural engineering design concepts with other engineering and architectural disciplines.

• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and others during various stages of project development.

• Review shop drawing, RFIs and submittals for approval of construction?Surveys losses and loss scenes at residential and commercial buildings

• Conducts investigations to determine and document the scope of damage.

• Investigates and assesses damages due to failures and determines the origin of failure for insurers and litigation support.

• Analyzes and documents the failure analysis and causation of failures.

• Collaborates with Fire Investigators to produce detailed reports outlining the cause and origin of losses and damages.

• Serves as an expert witness in court and/or in depositions.

• Documents and maintains billable hours on a time and expense basis for failure analysis and forensic engineering projects for clients.

• Collaborates with EFI's national team of forensic experts to leverage experiences and assist on projects.

Education & Licensing

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required. Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.

The Consolidated Operations, Management, Engineering and Test (COMET) contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. These tasks support the International Space Station, Exploration Ground Systems, Space Launch System (SLS), Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and Launch Services programs.

As a member of the Facility Structures Engineering group, you would work directly with engineers responsible for the design and sustaining of new and existing subsystems utilized in support of the Artemis missions. Facility Structures at the Vehicle Assembly Building, Mobile Launcher, and Launch Pard are required to support vehicle processing and launch, the Launch Accessories and Umbilicals that provide the ground to flight interfaces, the Crawler transporter that moves the stacked Mobile Launcher from the Vehicle Assembly Building to the Pad for launch to the cryogenics used to fuel the SLS vehicle.

Responsibilities:

• Provide practical application of engineering skills to perform flight and ground system mechanical engineering projects that that meet stakeholder expectations, system functional requirements and NASA program requirements.
• Support the design of mechanical Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and Ground Support Systems (GSS)
• Work with NASA and other contractor design teams to perform modifications to existing GSE/GSS mechanical systems.
• Prepare conceptual design packages, perform feasibility studies, technical assessments, cost estimates and requirements development in support of new design projects and existing system design modifications.
• Create and execute component and subsystem design verification/acceptance plans and test methods to validate performance to requirements and obtain design certification.

Position Overview

The Structural Engineer is integral to the successful execution of a variety of projects, ensuring technical and engineering excellence, and maintaining high levels of internal and customer satisfaction.
