This structural analysis engineer must have a background in spacecraft development, and must be able to understand the balance between engineering judgment versus analysis rigor and when each is appropriate.
Key job responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis tasks;
- Document stress analysis substantiating engineering drawings and documents;
- Support test execution, analyze results, and document verification of structural requirements;
- Support production and operation support activities through analysis of non-conformances, investigating failures, and analyzing improvements;
- Supporting configuration development and trade studies;

A day in the life
This Structures Analysis Engineer will be a SME in Satellite Primary Bus Structures. The person will be responsible to work comfortably with System FEM models, develop detailed FEMs when appropriate, integrate sub-system payload FEMs, complete classical hand calculations, and interface with various design engineering teams. The person will be familiar with dynamic loads, and various test methods used to substantiate satellite primary structures.
About the team
The Structural Integrity and Analysis team is responsible for Structural Integrity of not only the spacecraft but all other commodities supporting the program, inside and outside of Mechanical Engineering group.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- 4+ years of experience with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures;
- Vehicle load path definition, development of freebody diagrams and, strength analysis (metallic and/or composite structures);
- Analysis of stability critical structures;
- Experience in development of analysis tools and processes;
- Experience in System Finite Element Model (FEM) Management;
- Experience with one or more of the following Finite Element Analysis codes: Femap, Nastran, Ansys
- Experience in dynamic structural analysis and test methods;
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume

About the Role
Reporting to the Quality Assurance Division (QAD), Manager of Structural Integrity, the successful candidate will manage condition survey projects and manage the response to, and assist in, evaluating immediate structural deficiencies at assigned Port Authority facilities. In addition this individual will perform reviews of condition survey reports and biennial bridge inspection reports. The selected candidate will be handling multiple projects as a Project Manager and will also manage Task Leaders assigned to those projects:
Responsibilities
+ Manage the response to Immediate Actions.
+ Collaborate with other Quality Assurance Division Managers to prepare annual Quality Assurance Division budgets for Condition Surveys for Line Department and Facility approval.
+ Allocate projects to consultants and in-house staff within the guidelines established by the Procurement Department.
+ Develop RFPs and Attachment A for Condition Survey Projects. Manage the RFP process and negotiate fees for Task Order consultant assignments.
+ Review aspects of the Condition Survey field inspection and report preparation.
+ Assure assigned projects meets budget and scheduling goals
+ Maintain and update the Structural Integrity Database (SID) for condition survey report data, immediate actions and priority repairs.
+ Provide guidance for consultant management and facility liaison.
+ Assists in the management of staff and consultants directly and through directives to subordinates
+ Attend nighttime and/or weekend inspections as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
+ A bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
+ Five or more years or specific condition inspection and design experience of various types of structures.
+ Demonstrated experience in project management, engineering design and/or construction fields including the preparation of reports and construction documents, setting priorities, scheduling and budgetary control
+ Familiarity with New York State, New Jersey state and FHWA requirements for biennial inspection of bridges and tunnels and familiarity with various other codes including AASHTO specifications.
+ Ability to respond to emergency structural situations.

The engineer in this role will be instrumental in defining and executing the course that achieves the required structural integrity of a proprietary air vehicle airframe. Twenty (20) or more years working in at least three (3) of the following service areas: Chemicals, Petrochemicals, Polymers/Resins compounding, and Manufacturing -OR- Ten (10) years of relevant consulting work.

Ability to provide professional seal for governmental permitting procedures.

Advanced knowledge of building codes as they relate to civil/structural design.

Experience in acting as project manager on civil/structural based projects.

Ability to obtain data from field observations, including working at heights via ladder or personnel lifts as required.

Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines and have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficient in using Microsoft Office, STAAD, STAAD Foundation, Bluebeam and AutoCAD. Familiarity with Revit, Navisworks, Civil 3D, Tekla Tedds, Hilti PROFIS, RAM Elements and other engineering or drafting software is helpful but not required.

Optional experience: basic surveying for determination of project elevations using level and/or total station equipment; limited stormwater/sewer design for small-scale in-plant systems or extension of existing systems; familiarity with the implementation of laser scanning in project design.

**PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION**
Responsible for performing engineering and technical tasks, under general supervision, in support of nuclear plant operations.
**PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES**
+ Perform engineering and technical tasks as assigned by supervision applying general engineering principles.
+ Assure all engineering products prepared are in accordance with applicable safety analyses, industry codes, engineering specifications and all regulatory requirements.

Chemours is seeking a **Civil Structural Engineer** to join our growing Engineering Technology team. This position will be available at the **Chemours Headquarters in Wilmington, DE** and report directly to the Technology Leader for **Process Equipment and Rotating Machinery** .
The successful candidate will join a diverse team of technical experts who provide high-value, innovative engineering solutions to Chemours global chemical businesses in support of research and development, plant operations, and new capital projects. They will support the structural reliability and safety of our manufacturing facilities by providing guidance on the design, assessment, and maintenance of buildings, foundations, supports, and process infrastructure essential to site operations. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a broad set of multidisciplinary teams to ensure structural solutions meet operational, safety, and regulatory requirements as well as the freedom to directly champion company standards and continuous improvement within a dynamic chemical industry environment.
**The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:**
+ Lead civil/structural aspects of Chemours initiatives through collaboration with manufacturing site personnel, other subject matter experts, capital project team members, regulatory agencies, and external engineering service providers.
+ Conduct condition assessments and recommend remediation actions for existing structures, supports, and foundations.
+ Perform structural analysis and modeling for steel, concrete, masonry, wood, and other structures to ensure code compliance, safety, and durability under chemical plant conditions.
+ Design and review structural components and systems for new construction, modifications, and upgrades to chemical facility assets.
+ Support incident investigations and root cause analyses related to structural failures or safety concerns.
**The following is** **_required_** **for this role:**
+ BS or MS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
+ 7+ years of civil/structural engineering experience, with at least 3 years in the chemical or related industry.
+ Strong understanding of industrial codes and standards (AISC, ACI, ASCE, IBC, AASHTO, OSHA).
+ Thorough knowledge of core civil engineering competencies including engineering mechanics, materials of construction, structural engineering design and analysis, and specification of civil and structural components.
+ Ability to maintain a travel rate of approximately 25 - 30% and perform field assessments that may require climbing ladders.
**The following is** **_preferred_** **for this role:**
+ Professional Engineer (PE) license or actively working towards licensure.
+ Basic knowledge of geotechnical/foundation engineering, site grading, drainage, hydrology, groundwater protection, environmental structures, underground piping systems, roadway/railway systems, loading/unloading facilities, etc.
+ Experience with specialized structures associated with the chemical industry (process buildings, pipe racks, tank foundations, containment areas, trenches/sumps/dikes, sewers, waste treatment facilities, outfalls, diffusers, etc.).
+ Proficiency with relevant structural engineering software packages.
+ Familiarity with chemical safety protocols, risk assessment methodologies, sustainability practices, and resilient design in industrial settings.

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to support the structural engineering work of SCR gas duct systems for power applications. This role involves designing and analyzing ductwork and structural components necessary for an SCR system. The candidate will be required to travel and spend a few months at our New Jersey office for training purposes, with all travel and accommodation expenses covered.
Responsibilities
+ Perform design and analysis of ductwork and structural components for the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) gas duct system.
+ Collect, review, interpret, and integrate design requirements from various stakeholders including customers, suppliers, and the parent company.
+ Prepare and review engineering technical requirements and material estimates to support project proposals and bid strategies.
+ Provide troubleshooting support for ductwork and structural components.
