- Two (2) temporary hourly-intermittent Work Study Student Assistant positions in Music Department Office.
- Start Date
- Positions available on or after September 1, 2025 and ending on or before May 31, 2026. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.
- Job Description/Duties
- Duties include but are not limited to:
- Electronic file creation and maintenance (e.g., scanning paper files, creating electronic file folders, renaming and reorganizing electronic files, etc.).
- Phone and email correspondence on behalf of the Music Office.
- Mail pickup and delivery.
- Organization of materials in the Music Office and copy room.
- Continuing administrative tasks initiated and assigned by the ASC (e.g., following up on correspondence/paperwork, checking facility inventory, reviewing documents and files, etc.).
- Coordinating weekly work schedule with the ASC, entering monthly schedule to MS Shifts for review and approval, and submitting timesheet hours for approval at the end of each month.
- In-person support for Music Office walk-ins (e.g., directing individuals to classrooms, noting and forwarding inquiries to appropriate faculty/staff, etc.).
- Other duties as assigned.

- Demonstrates experience in office support or related field.
- Demonstrates understanding of basic electronic filing methods.
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently after receiving initial instruction.
- Demonstrates aptitude for error detection and organization.
- Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
- Must have received and accepted Financial Aid award for the current semester/year in which you are applying.

Position Overview:
The Student Assistant in University Operations IT provides first-level technical support to faculty, staff, and students while assisting with classroom and office technology, troubleshooting issues, and supporting audiovisual setup for events. The role also includes tracking IT inventory, preparing user resources, and contributing to training to improve technology use across campus. These students will also have the responsibility of cleaning blackboards and erasers approximately once a week. Work hours flexibility is helpful, and we will accommodate your class schedule. Average 10 hours per week with a maximum of 15 in special circumstances. The ideal employees would be available at least some of the following times: 8-9 Monday to Friday, and Friday afternoons.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Serve as student office assistant for the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. 2. Make copies/scans of syllabi, texts, handouts, etc., as requested by faculty and staff; collate and staple as necessary. 3. Run errands on campus, including material delivery and pick-up in other buildings. 4. Distribute incoming mail, notify recipients of packages, and answer the telephone. 5. Wipe down and clean blackboards, trays, and erasers in classrooms as requested. 6. File and organize, type up correspondence as requested. 7. Serve as the first point of contact for all office and department visitors. 9. Assist with department event preparation and cleanup as needed. 10. Provide timely notice of absences, and limit absences as much as possible.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED: proof of financial aid for FWS eligibility work hours, enrolled in at least 6 academic credits.
PREFERRED: very reliable, flexible schedule, willing to learn, positive attitude, friendly, and some experience working with the public.

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.
