Job Summary
The Director of Service Learning at Sacred Heart Greenwich plays a pivotal role in fostering a culture of compassion, leadership, and social responsibility among students. This 12-month position involves designing, implementing, and overseeing service-learning and community outreach initiatives across all grade levels, empowering students to engage with local, national, and global communities through meaningful acts of service and advocacy.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with faculty to integrate service into the curriculum, coordinating immersive experiences that deepen students understanding of social justice issues, and cultivating a school-wide culture of service, faith in action, and leadership development.

Essential Functions

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive K-12 service-learning curriculum that aligns with the schools mission and values.
  2. Ensure the curriculum integrates with academic subjects across grade levels, emphasizing interdisciplinary connections.
  3. Link classroom learning to service projects, fostering real-world applications of knowledge and skills.
  4. Collaborate with faculty to incorporate service-learning principles into their subject areas, providing resources, strategies, and professional development as needed.
  5. Guide teachers in developing service-based lesson plans that encourage critical thinking, empathy, and civic engagement.
  6. Lead workshops, seminars, or reflection sessions for students to enhance their understanding of service and its broader implications.
  7. Provide ongoing support for student-led service initiatives, ensuring alignment with the schools mission and goals.
  8. Coordinate and support student participation in Network experiences across the Sacred Heart community.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelors degree in Education, Social Work, Theology, or a related field (Masters preferred).
  2. Experience in service learning, program coordination, or community outreach in an educational setting.
  3. Strong communication and organizational skills.
  4. Ability to engage with diverse communities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  5. Commitment to the Mission and values of the Sacred Heart Network.

Purpose:

The student respiratory care assistant is responsible for maintaining an appropriate level of equipment in the various respiratory work areas and assisting the respiratory therapists and clinical staff with various tasks, as directed.

Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit and practice service excellence by actively seeking, listening, responding to the needs of patients, their family, physicians, staff, and others.

  • Maintain supply of transport oxygen and maintain the supply of oxygen cylinders on all inpatient units, emergency department, and clinic areas.

  • Perform routine assembly, maintenance, and cleaning of various types of respiratory care equipment; disinfect equipment prior to calibration and assembly; and maintain appropriate levels of equipment in the various respiratory care work areas daily.

  • Transport dirty equipment to appropriate area using appropriate infection control techniques

  • Appropriately handles and uses cleaning and disinfecting solutions and equipment

  • Demonstrates appropriate use of personal protective equipment

  • Reports equipment malfunctions to respiratory leadership

  • Inspect equipment for correct assembly, assure all parts are in proper working order, and perform preventative maintenance according to established protocols.

  • Check equipment to ensure appropriate function. Calibrate equipment to department or manufactures specifications.

  • Transport equipment between in-patient units and procedure areas as directed by a respiratory therapist

  • May assist the bio-medical technician in tracking of respiratory care equipment.

  • Is responsible for all identification, cataloging, and tracking of all respiratory care equipment.

  • Assist the respiratory therapist with bronchoscope procedures: Setup before & after procedure and processing of the bronchoscopy scopes per manufacture recommendations.

  • Assist the respiratory therapist with setting up for non-emergent intubations & extubations.

  • Assist the respiratory therapist with downloading and documenting 4 channel sleep studies.

  • Perform smoking cessation counseling per department policy.

  • Deliver home care supplies such as oxygen tanks/compressors

  • Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office products, electronic health record platform, ePro system for ordering, and system for ordering prints

  • High school diploma and must currently be enrolled in respiratory therapist program.

Typical Duties

Call Center: Intake inquiries and refer students and public to appropriate resources; assist with coordination and support of call campaigns for recruitment, retention and completion efforts; guide students to complete application process, academic program selection, additional enrollment processes, financial aid application, and college visits.

Career Center/Internships: Research current labor market for career and transfer opportunities, with emphasis on college program areas; refer qualified students to employers or employment services for placement, and conduct follow-up interviews with students; provide assistance with mock interviews, resume critiques, and job searches; administer career planning assessments; provide vocational and educational guidance training for students.

Student Life: Assist with the development and supervision of student organizations in collaboration with student leaders; plan and coordinate social and cultural activities for students; attend and assist with coordination of college activities sponsored by the student association and other student groups; coordinate the student election process.

Minimum Qualifications
EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience related to the duties of the position.
EDUCATION: Completion of an Associate's Degree or 60 semester units (90 quarter units). NOTE: An additional year of qualifying experience may be substituted for up to one year of college education. Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.
