• Engagement Ambassadors participate through digital and traditional phone outreach to alumni, parents and friends of Ohio University leveraging an engagement platform that allows for personalized outreach to every constituent that inspires life-long engagement.
• Ambassadors successfully text, video and phone prospective donors on behalf of Ohio University to engage constituents and advance its mission.
• For each phone call, Ambassadors work to raise monetary support, fostering a positive and long-lasting relationship with alumni, parents and friends as well as update demographic information.
• Ambassadors follow scripting provided by their Engagement Center Manager while sharing their own positive personal experience at Ohio University and applying a pre-determined dollar amount ladder and strategy for each phone call including supporting reasons to give.

Compensation
• Starting pay rate is $11.50/ hour.
• Incentives awarded periodically.

BROAD FUNCTION

The part-time Student Engagement Specialist will provide direct support to College Credit Now (CCN) students, focusing on academic success, college readiness, and seamless transition to post-secondary education. The position requires collaboration with OCC departments, high school partners, and families to ensure a high-quality student experience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide individualized support to CCN students, with a focus on academic success, future planning, career exploration and post-secondary readiness.
  • Facilitate early college and career exploration activities that align with OCC's academic offerings and workforce pathways.
  • Act as a liaison between CCN students and OCC offices (i.e. Admissions, Financial Aid, Learning Center, Library, Student Coach & Advising Network, and Career & Transfer Services).
  • Maintain a consistent presence within partner high schools to provide in-person guidance and support.
  • Other related duties as assigned to support program goals and student success.

Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college, university, or foreign equivalency.
  • Experience working with high school and/or college students in an advising, coaching, or student support role.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders including students, families, school personnel, and higher education professionals.
  • Ability to travel to partner school districts throughout Central New York.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college, university or foreign equivalency.
  • Knowledge of dual enrollment, concurrent enrollment, or early college programming.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language will be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate workshops, lead classroom visits, family information sessions, and district events about college and career readiness.
  • Experience providing individualized support, advising, or coaching in an academic setting.
  • Ability to build relationships with students, families, school personnel, and college staff/faculty; strong verbal and written communication skills tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated reliability, adaptability, and strong attention to detail with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while working independently or past of a diverse team.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel as required.

Purpose :

The purpose of this role is to develop the academic and extracurricular experiences of students at the Los Angeles Film School by facilitating student engagement initiatives and supporting communication from Student Advising to the student body. The role also involves maintaining operational efficiency within the Student Advising Hub, ensuring students receive timely and relevant assistance to navigate their academic journey effectively. This employee is in charge of the administrative needs of the Student Advising Department which allows academic coaches to focus on academic advisement and the Manager of Student Advising to focus on managerial tasks.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (those that must be performed with or without an ADA Accommodation):

  • Assists in the planning and execution of student programming initiatives that promote academic and extracurricular engagement.
  • Curates the Student Affairs Newsletter, ensuring relevant updates and resources are communicated effectively to the student body.
  • Coordinates and oversees the graduate audit program, ensuring timely and accurate scheduling of audited courses.
  • Greets incoming traffic, schedules appointments, answers the main phone line.
  • Refers students to the appropriate school official/department and answers basic questions relating to student success procedures.
  • Organizes, coordinates and/or participates in various student activities such as showings of student projects, student appreciation events, graduations and interactive activities between students and staff.
  • Maintains the integrity of the Los Angeles Film School's policies and procedures.
  • Assists with student outreach in the absence of the assigned academic coach.
  • Updates and maintains various academic trackers.
  • Manages the daily operations of the Student Advising Hub.

Non-Essential Duties & Responsibilities (those that must be performed with or without an ADA Accommodation):

  • Proper handling of complaints – take issues needing further review to the Manager of Student Advising.
  • Takes inquiries needing further review to the assigned academic coach.

The Student Engagement Specialist at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU) plays a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive and dynamic campus environment that supports the academic and professional development of diverse health professional students. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and assessing programs and initiatives that enhance student engagement, leadership, and civic involvement.

The Student Engagement Specialist will work closely with students, faculty, and staff to cultivate a supportive community that promotes student retention, satisfaction, and success.

Essential Duties

Program Development and Implementation:

· Design and implement student engagement programs that promote leadership, civic engagement, and community involvement.

· Develop co-curricular activities and events that complement academic learning and enhance the overall student experience.

· Coordinate and support student clubs and organizations, ensuring they have the resources and guidance needed to thrive.

· Develop and manage budgets for engagement activities

Student Support and Advising:

· Provide one-on-one advising and mentoring to students, helping them navigate campus resources and opportunities.

· Foster an inclusive environment that supports the unique needs of diverse health professional students.

Leadership Development:

· Create and facilitate leadership development workshops and training sessions for students.

· Encourage student participation in leadership roles within campus organizations and activities.

Civic Engagement:

· Develop partnerships with local community organizations to create service-learning and volunteer opportunities for students.

· Promote student involvement in civic and community activities that align with their professional and personal goals.

Assessment and Evaluation:

· Collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of student engagement programs.

· Use feedback and assessment results to continuously improve programs and services.

· Track attendance and other data related to engagement activities and events

· Monitor and evaluate student feedback regarding engagement activities and events

Collaboration and Outreach:

· Collaborate with academic programs, faculty, and other campus offices to support student engagement initiatives.

· Conduct outreach to prospective students to promote the benefits of student engagement and involvement at CDU.

· Create and implement innovative engagement strategies and initiatives to foster a vibrant and successful campus community

· Monitor and evaluate engagement activities and events for effectiveness

Marketing and Communication:

· Develop marketing materials and communication strategies to promote student engagement opportunities.

· Utilize social media, newsletters, and other platforms to keep students informed and engaged.

Salary Budget: $68,640 - $70,000 annually/Exempt Status

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Regionally accredited bachelor’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3-4 years related experience with student engagement, student affairs, or a related field.
    • Experience working with diverse student populations, preferably in a health professions education setting.

o Must have excellent communication and organizational skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

o The candidate has to be creative and enthusiastic and has a passion for making a difference in the lives of the students at CDU

Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate, implement, and schedule various activities.
  • Proven customer support experience or experience as a student affairs coordinator
  • Excellent communication skills and organizational skills with the ability to build rapport with others.
  • Ability to develop and implement programs and initiatives that enhance student engagement.
  • Proficiency in using data to assess program effectiveness.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Working Conditions:
