CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

Student Health Services (SHS) is the primary student health unit on the University of Delaware Campus. Situated within the Division of Student Life, SHS provides essential services and support to students and campus stakeholders to enhance the development of personal and social responsibility and to foster safe, healthy, inclusive, and supportive communities at UD. SHS partners with students and staff to encourage student success and engagement, a culture of care for all members, values-congruent decision-making, and the cultivation of skills and knowledge so students may become citizens and leaders in our increasingly global society. Staff members support the Mission and Vision of Student Health Services as well as those of the Division of Student Life to ensure student success.

Under the general direction of SHS primary care providers, the Nurse I provides and coordinates comprehensive primary care and services to the student population. The Nurse I operates in a clinical setting, assesses patient and associated needs, implements intervention plans, and evaluates response. The Nurse I collaborates with other health care team members and/or community services, as appropriate. This position will provide experience and growth potential to serve additional nursing roles.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Participates in and completes orientation alongside an experienced nurse, tailored to support the transition into this entry-level role.
* Obtains health histories and performs brief physical assessments on a selected patient population, including acute/chronic medical problems, as per provider-approved protocol.
* Utilizes the Electronic Medical Record for scheduling appointments, charting encounters and any other documentation regarding the care of the patient.
* Reviews medical records including laboratory results and immunizations and consults with the primary care provider, as appropriate.
* Provides patient education and instructions within area of specialty to patients, families, health care staff, faculty and students.
* Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
* Maintains supplies in areas of work, i.e., exam rooms and the procedure room.
* Evaluates equipment readiness, such as EKG machine, nebulizer, pulse oximeter, vitals machines, glucometer, crash carts and contents and other items as needed.
* Participates in clinical quality improvement studies as directed by supervisor.
* Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, annual mandatory training, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
* Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* State of Delaware Licensed Registered Nurse (or RN licensed in a compact state), and a graduate nurse or a nurse with up to three years of nursing experience.
* Ability to react effectively in emergency situations.
* Knowledge of patient evaluation, CPR, patient care charts and patient histories, drugs and their indications, contraindications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration and primary care principles and practices.
* Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
* Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community and rapidly changing technical environment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Ability to lift average weight objects up to 50 pounds.
* Ability to stand and/or walk for more than four (4) hours per day.
* Yearly tuberculosis screening. If positive, proof of absence of disease.
* Documentation of immune status to Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tdap, and Hepatitis B.
* Successful completion of criminal background check.

Under the general supervision of the Director of the Student Health Center, the Psychiatrist performs assigned medical psychiatric treatment to CSUSB students.

Major duties and responsibilities

  • Under the general direction of the Student Health Center Executive Director, the Psychiatrist will participate on the interdisciplinary team, working in collaboration with Health Care Providers, Counselors, and Counseling & Psychological Services Director among others, in providing direct therapeutic services in the form of diagnostic assessments and medication/somatic treatment for individuals at the SB and PD campuses, as well as provide advising and making recommendations of a students overall treatment plan.
  • The incumbent will prescribe and/or develop medications, treatments, or psychological therapies for client treatments or therapies. The incumbent will examine clients/patients to assess general physical condition, advise patients on effects of health conditions or treatments, and explain treatments or therapies to clients.
  • The incumbent will act as a medical consultant to aid Health Care Providers and Counselors, as well as consult with campus stakeholders regarding student CARE and crisis intervention cases at both the SB & PD campuses, while adhering to confidentiality guidelines.
  • Work in collaboration with other clinicians, the incumbent will develop, maintain, and monitor a clinical case management system to provide continuity of care and follow-up for higher-need clients, including the preparation of official health documents or records and/or reports summarizing patient diagnostic or care activities.
  • The incumbent will develop and maintain a database of referral resources and services in surrounding communities.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining client records in accordance with established policies and procedures, adhering to federal, state, and CSU policies.
  • The incumbent will collect medical information from patients or other medical professionals and record patient medical histories.
  • The incumbent will initiate and develop on-going liaison relationships with community health providers, services, hospitals, and other resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of psychiatric duties; serves on relevant committees; engages in professional development activities, completes all department and university required trainings as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited school of medicine is required.
  • Residency: Completion of a residency in psychiatry approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
  • A copy of the certificate of completion of residency.
  • A letter of verification from their residency program which verifies the anticipated date of completion.
  • Experience within a public or private behavioral health or healthcare organization.
  • Possession of a valid Physician's and Surgeon's certificate issued by the Medical Board of California, or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California is required.
  • Certification: Possession of a valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate is required.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat mental dysfunctions, including the symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health care measures.

Compensation and Benefits:

Anticipated Hiring Range: 13,732 - $26,726 per month.

Classification Salary Range: $3,732 - 26,726 per month.

Schedule: Monday Friday 8am 5pm. Weekend and evenings as needed.

Responsible for providing primary health care to university students, and university guests when authorized. ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:



  • Evaluates patients for medical and mental health issues, including obtaining medical history, performing physical examination and formulating diagnosis and treatment plan.

  • Provides counseling, anticipatory guidance, and preventive education to meet the needs of patients.

  • Prescribes medications for the treatment of patients and adheres to safe monitoring practices in accordance with Texas statutes and professional practice guidelines.

  • Determines the need for and orders laboratory, medical imaging and other studies as needed to establish or support diagnosis and treatment.

  • Performs reviews of laboratory results, medical imaging and medical studies in a timely fashion, conducts clinical assessments of abnormal results and follows up with patients as appropriate.

  • Monitors ongoing medical treatment.

  • Refers patients as needed for appropriate specialty care services.

  • Performs minor surgical procedures.

  • Consults on patient care at the request of other medical staff.

  • Provides direct supervision and training to the nursing staff.

EDUCATION


Graduation from an accredited medical school. Licensure in the state of Texas. Prefer board certification/board eligible in Family Practice, OB/GYN, Internal Medicine or Pediatrics. Current prescriptive licenses.


EXPERIENCE


Progressive health care experience required to adequately provide the knowledge and skills necessary in the operation of a primary healthcare clinic. Experience must include outpatient experience in both mental health and women's healthcare.

Responsibilities:

* Provides care to individuals to ensure physical and mental well-being as defined by nursing protocol.

* Collaborates and refers to physician and nurse practitioner when indicated.


* Coordinates care when indicated with on and off campus referral sources including emergency facilities, counseling, public health, lab and x-ray, private health care providers, and family planning.


* Keeps an accurate and complete patient record using EMR.


* Educates patients and their support systems on how to manage conditions and to promote the health and well-being of patients and those around them.


* Maintains confidentiality.


* Participates in collaborative activities with the Student Health Services team by working in the clinic to prepare clients for exam by provider. This includes opening/setting up clinic in preparation for patients according to clinic protocol, setting up patients (rooming) patients according to protocol, and closing clinic according to protocol.


* Maintains current CPR certification and RN licensure in the State of Wisconsin or affiliated compact state.


* Completes tasks assigned that contribute to quality assurance of clinic. This includes providing telephone assessment, triage, and tracking inventory levels and place replenishment orders.


* Embraces and supports diversity as a part of the educational process. Acknowledges and respects the differences that race, culture, sexual orientation, age and gender bring to society and how that impacts on delivery of health and mental health care.

**Job Summary**
We are seeking a Student Health RD to join our Nutrition Team at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA.
This full-time 40hr/week position will provide high-quality, evidence-based nutrition services to University of Virginia students. The role is in-person, based in the Medical Services clinic within the state-of-the-art Student Health and Wellness (SHW) building, which opened in Fall 2021.
The position will primarily consist of one-on-one outpatient care for a diverse university student population. While a wide range of nutrition concerns may be addressed, a significant portion of visits will focus on supporting students experiencing eating disorders, disordered eating, body image concerns, and/or problematic exercise behaviors. The role also includes participation in the interdisciplinary Eating Disorders Consultation and Treatment Team (EDCT) at SHW.
This position is ideal for an experienced Registered Dietitian with a strong clinical background in eating disorders who embraces a weight-inclusive, non-diet approach. While working on-site at SHW, the RD will operate with a high degree of independence alongside the medical team and will also be part of the broader UVA Health RD team, providing access to a strong professional network, collaboration opportunities, and ongoing support for professional growth.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Provides nutrition services and assesses the nutrition status of university students
+ Trains and mentor's patient services staff and interns as applicable
+ Fosters teamwork and establishes effective strategies to implement innovative programs which leads to optimal clinical nutrition and financial outcomes

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Nursing

2. A current Registered Nursing License issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing

3. Two (2) years of experience within the last five (5) years in professional nursing, preferably in an acute care setting.

4. Current CPR certification

6. Knowledge of the application, principles, and procedures for Registered Nurses under the California Nurse Practice Act

7. Knowledge of the causes and means of transmission and methods of control of communicable diseases.

San Diego State University (SDSU) is seeking a dynamic, student-centered, and visionary leader to serve as the next Executive Director of Student Health Services (SHS) . This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative and strategic college health professional to guide a comprehensive, AAAHC-accredited health center that serves a diverse student population of approximately 35,000. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Health, Wellness, and Student Services, the Executive Director will lead a dedicated, multidisciplinary team and provide forward-thinking administrative and clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, accessible, and culturally responsive medical care. Located on SDSU's vibrant and beautiful campus-just minutes from San Diego's beaches, restaurants, shopping, and entertainment-SHS is an essential part of the university's holistic commitment to student well-being.

The Executive Director's key responsibilities include directing and coordinating all aspects of Student Health Services (SHS), with a focus on medical care, clinical supervision, resource management, and policy development. As an enthusiastic collaborator, they will build partnerships across campus, including with Athletics to support SDSU's Division I student-athletes, and with local providers to ensure continuity of care and alignment with SHS's mission to deliver services in a safe, welcoming environment that holistically supports students' health, well-being, and personal and academic success. This senior leader will work closely with the Associate Vice President to advance SHS's mission, goals, and programs; expand outreach services and regional partnerships; manage budgets, personnel, and internal resources; and guide the overall direction of SHS.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership experience in student health and well-being, along with the ability to inspire, motivate, and communicate effectively with SHS staff, Student Affairs colleagues, campus partners, community stakeholders, and SDSU students. The Executive Director must exhibit deep cultural competence and sensitivity; strong skills in diplomacy, conflict negotiation, and resolution; and the ability to support and collaborate with diverse groups to ensure services are inclusive and responsive to the needs of all community members. Additionally, the Executive Director should bring experience in a broader health system environment, strong financial and administrative management capabilities, and a solid understanding of complex organizations and the principles of organizational sustainability, including budget and human resource management.

Primary Responsibilities
Overall Direction and Leadership for SHS (40%)
  • Develop policy in accordance with campus policies & procedures on the scope and application of health services at SDSU. Provide input and leadership for policy development at the CSU level by serving on system-wide committees or by providing advice/data to support these ends.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term strategic plans for organizational sustainability, program goals, and operating procedures for SHS (as consistent with its mission) to provide visionary leadership and direction for the department, and to foster continued support of a health campus community, and specifically, student-centered health care.
  • Identify strategies for generating revenue resources for the department. Effectively communicate plans and expectations to the departmental staff and University administrators.
  • Supervise and guide staff as appropriate in the interpretation and application of policy pertaining to specific operational programs and goals.
  • Serve as a department head within the Division of Student Affairs and work to fulfill the mission and goals of the Division through the services and programs of SHS.
  • Develop and implement administrative policies to ensure continued compliance with all appropriate regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure measures for continual review and assessment of programs to adapt to changing student and University needs as warranted.
Campus, Community, and Public Outreach (20%)
  • Provide high-level direction and guidance to administrators, faculty, staff, and students as needed pertaining to health-related issues.
  • Serve as a key contributor to campus policy and decision-making, as requested by University leadership.
  • Serve as operational/management lead with SDSU risk management and the CSU Office of General Counsel for SHS related situations.
  • Serve as public health subject matter expert for the campus.
  • Serve as the university point of contact and lead with the County of San Diego HHS for public health situations.
  • Interact professionally with students, parents, student organizations, alumni, faculty, administrators, professional societies, and others to achieve the goals of SHS and ensure the highest possible quality medical/health programs and education for students.
  • Serve as a representative on various University committees, as assigned.
  • Collaborate with StratCom to facilitate health-related communications with outside agencies as needed. This may include other CSU campuses, city, county, and state health departments, primary care providers/medical specialists, and other agencies, especially during health-related emergencies.
  • Serve as a university spokesperson on and off camera with outside agencies as appropriate especially as it pertains to health-related issues.
Program Development and Evaluation (15%)
  • Develop and implement policies to ensure continued compliance with all appropriate regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure measures for continual review and assessment of programs to adapt to changing student and university needs as warranted.
  • Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to evaluating, improving, and innovating programs and services in response to evolving needs. Serve as the Department HIPAA Privacy Officer responsible for assessment, implementation, and maintenance of department compliance and reporting.
Personnel and Fiscal Management (15%)
  • Effectively and efficiently oversee and manage all department and program resources (e.g., budget, personnel, and facilities).
  • Oversee staff management and accountability, including staff selection, orientation, supervision, training, development, and evaluation.
  • Supervise and evaluate the SHS Management team.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all accreditation standards, license requirements, and state laws and regulations pertaining to the practice of medicine.
  • Ensure all staff have adequate opportunities for medical, leadership, and other relevant professional development and/or education.
  • Maintain a positive work environment that encourages collaborations across the department.
  • Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure and staffing aligned with revenue and enrollment projections to accomplish the department's goals and objectives effectively.
  • Maintain and review all departmental personnel files to ensure that position descriptions are current and that all personnel positional responsibilities are in line with their respective classification standards.
  • Ensure that all positional changes and required documentation are completed promptly and following human resources policies and/or collective bargaining group contract requirements.
Fund Development (5%)
  • Enhance relationships and maintain meaningful communication with prospective and current donors.
  • Identify and cultivate potential new donors.
Other Duties (5%)
  • Collaborate with the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services and the Director of Well-being & Health Promotion to design and implement an innovative integrative mental health model. As a collaborative team between the areas noted, along with seeking advice from other entities as needed, develop an approach to mental health that is mutually beneficial to all units and ensures that assigned staff is utilized to their fullest potential to accommodate students with mental health needs.
Position Information
  • This is a full-time, at-will role, offering comprehensive benefits.
  • Position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
