Position Summary
The Student Services Coordinator is responsible for providing guidance and support to our international students throughout their time at KI.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Student Services Coordinator will help to create a friendly and inviting English speaking environment for our short and long-term international students and will be responsible for a combination of some or all of the following:
- Designated School Official (DSO); responsible for updating SEVIS and advising students on all matters related to their immigration status while studying at KI
- Assist in keeping the school compliant with state, national, and organizational standards of compliance
- Advise new and current students on KI courses and products; collect lead information and participate in conversion efforts
- Domestic marketing activities, including community outreach events and activities, phone calls, etc
- Planning and/or execution of daily, weekly, monthly activities; creating monthly activities calendar
- Housing options recruitment and procurement and student placement
- Deliver outstanding hands-on student service
- Liaise with national Customer Service team to follow policies related to course adjustments, including adherence to Quote Request (QRF) and Change Form (CF) processes
- Cash management: book deposits, payments, etc
- Internship recruitment and placement
- University admissions guidance and counseling
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident (mandatory for DSO)
- 1-2+ years in a business or operational setting
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Prior experience with international students and/ or advising
- Experience with database systems
- One or more foreign language ability
- Be aware of who is the designated safeguarding Lead for Kaplan Languages
- Be aware of how to identify safeguarding concerns and how to appropriately respond to these
- Complete, in a timely fashion, any safeguarding training assigned to you
- Report any safeguarding concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in the school
- As a member of the school team, be responsible for all aspects of our students safeguarding and welfare in conjunction with the wider school and company management teams

Harper College's Paths to College and Career Program is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Student Support Assistant to join our team at the Prospect Heights Learning and Career Center. This grant-funded role involves supporting program participants in assessing and improving their basic skills in math, reading, writing, and computer literacy.
Location: Harper College Learning and Career Center, located in Prospect Heights.
Schedule: Six hours per week with the possibility to increase based on need; the current schedule will consist of two three-hour shifts per week. Extra hours for projects may be available on occasion.
Pay Rate: $25/hour - This position is grant funded through March 31, 2026. Continuation of the position is subject to grant approvals/funds.
Program: Paths to College and Career Program, funded by the Illinois Community College Board Innovative Bridge Transitions Grant (IBT).
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists students with enrollment in the Paths to College and Career Program.
- Responsible for creating user accounts, assisting with general navigation, and providing troubleshooting support for educational systems such as Essential Education, NorthStar Digital Literacy, Upwardly Global, and VMock platforms.
- Offers individualized basic skills (reading, writing, and math) and digital literacy support to students.
- Fosters a supportive and encouraging learning environment, including practices that assist multilingual and non-traditional learners in accessing learning tools.
- Monitor students' progress on the e-learning modules and provide them with feedback to help them achieve their learning goals.
- Maintain records of student participation and progress.
- Assists with maintenance of electronic and hard copy instructional materials and resources.
- Conducts proctored NorthStar Digital Literacy assessments to evaluate student progress and identify areas for improvement and referral.
- Provides monthly and quarterly reports for grant reporting.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education: Associate's degree or two years of college-level education.
Preferred Experience:
One year of experience in academic support, tutoring, or related area in an educational setting, preferably at the post-secondary level. Demonstrates excellent oral, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. Fluency in Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian, or other languages spoken by our students preferred. Demonstrable proficiency with educational and digital literacy tools preferred.

The Assistant Director of Transfer Student Support is responsible for supporting the Director of the Office of Transfer Student Support in the development and execution of strategies and programs meant to help transfer students transition to the College, thrive upon arrival, build community, and be successful in their curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular endeavors. The dual focus of the role includes offering individual support and developing a comprehensive program to engage, track, and ensure success and community for transfer students. This role involves direct outreach and student support, working with the student advisory board, coordinating with various university offices, and event and program planning, management, and evaluation.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing individualized and group support to transfer students and serving as a point of contact.
- Collaborating with academic advisers, college programming office, campus partners, and various offices across the college to develop and manage programs for transfer students, help build community, and foster transfer student success.
- Developing and managing targeted communications, newsletters, and website for transfer students.
- Developing trainings, workshops, and initiatives to enhance faculty and staff competencies in supporting transfer students.
- Coordinating with the programming and orientation office to develop and participate in transfer student specific orientation activities and onboarding from point of admission, college orientation events, and weeks of welcome in autumn quarter.
- Partnering with Academic and Student Services to lead reporting and data analysis efforts to identify transfer student needs.

- Advising various campus-wide and program committees in various aspects of student life.
- Recommending process improvements for programs that relate to critical student-life improvement, including emergency management, accommodations for students with disabilities, and/or the administration of health care services and programs for students.
- Collaborating with academic divisions in educating students on safety issues. Interpreting student disciplinary issues and preparing an annual university summary of disciplinary actions. Counseling students, parents, and staff in response to concerns, and handling complex situations including student crises.
- Performing other related work as needed.
Minimum qualifications include a college or university degree in a related field and 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline. Preferred qualifications include a bachelors or masters degree in a related field, minimum 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline, background with transfer student retention and success strategies, familiarity with university structures and functions, understanding of intersectional identities and diverse student needs, proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and online organizational tools, familiarity with Adobe graphic design/web development environments, and knowledge of best practices in supporting transfer students. Preferred competencies include strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent editing/proofreading, handling multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities, attention to detail and meeting deadlines, a focus on building relationships and community through programming, the ability to work autonomously, strong problem-solving skills, maintaining confidentiality/discretion at all times, handling stressful situations, critical thinking skills, and creativity.
