Job Description
Our client is known for offering services with a focus on outstanding quality, value added engineering and successful project outcomes. These services include engineering only and engineering/procurement/construction (EPC) services for high voltage powerlines and substations. The Substation Structural Civil Engineer will work within a multi-discipline team to develop designs and drawings of foundation and structural components for substation facilities in accordance with customer scope of work, industry standards and best practices, and environmental and soil conditions applicable industry codes and standards ensuring minimal cost while maintaining suitability and constructability of the design. This engineer will be responsible for all phases of designing structures and foundations for electrical transmission, switching, and distribution substations for the electric utility industry. This engineer will provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to less experienced engineers within the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop accurate civil designs for foundations that meet industry and client standards and applicable codes.
- Develop accurate designs of complex structures that meet industry and client standards and applicable codes.
- Perform quality reviews of civil/structural engineering work for both peers/sub-contractors on assigned projects.
- Perform hand and/or software calculations in accordance with civil/structural codes and standards. And prepare calculation summaries for submittal.
- Prepare preliminary construction drawing packages for submittal to construction contractors for bid. Reviewing incoming proposals for alignment with design and constructability of methods.
- Assist with the development of project proposals, bid preparation, project schedules, etc. for assigned Substation projects.
- Review incoming submittals for alignment with design and constructability of methods.
- Assist project team during construction on civil issues.
- Travel to client sites/field as necessary.
- May act as lead engineer and/or engineer of record (with PE) for projects.
- Mentor and assist junior engineers and designer in design.

**Description**
As a Substation Engineer with Asplundh Engineering Services (AES), you will maintain a range of responsibilities involving Substations, including protection and control and physical design. You will assist in completing assignments independently, as well as working closely with other engineering and design team members to fulfill distinct roles across multiple projects.

+ Develop electrical substation drawings including single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, physical layouts, sections and elevations, and other related details and sketches

**Education & Experience**
+ Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
+ 2-5 years experience in electrical design involving power systems.
+ Must be proficient with typical office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Windows
**Qualifications**
+ Must be 18 years of age or older.
+ Strong technical writing skills
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Effective communication skills both written and verbal
+ Experience with Protection and Control design, including familiarity with one-line diagrams of several different station configurations.
+ Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NEMA, and other industry standards and their applicability to diverse types of substations
+ Ability to use drafting software(s) preferred

**Description**
**ENTRUST Solutions Group** is seeking **Substation Engineers** to join our team. Primary responsibilities are leading and executing complex engineering projects related to substations. This includes performing detailed quality reviews, conducting engineering studies and calculations, collaborating with project managers, and providing technical guidance to junior engineers. Ideal candidates will have experience in producing and reviewing civil/structural, physical or P&C design drawings for substation projects. **Responsibilities:**
+ **Quality** : Conduct thorough quality reviews (QA/QC) following established procedures. Provide PE stamping for projects as needed and support the development of additional Professional Engineers within the team.
+ **Engineering Design** : Perform studies, calculations, and detailed civil/structural, physical or P&C Substation engineering design and reviews for electrical substation and related projects.
+ Civil/structural work may involve site plan, grading and drainage plan and details, foundation plan and details, oil containment plan and details, and structural steel fabrication shop drawings.
+ Physical work may involve general arrangement, elevations and equipment connection details, grounding plan and details, conduit plan and details, control building layout and details, foundation plan and details, and material lists.
+ P&C work may involve review and production of protection & control design drawings, including relaying/functional one-lines, three-lines, AC/DC schematics, panel views, BOM, wiring diagrams, and station communication & alarm diagrams.
+ **Collaboration and Coordination** : Work with substation Engineers, Project Managers and Technical Leads to coordinate, manage, and develop design services within the various disciplines.
+ **Project Leadership** : Lead and execute complex projects from full scope estimating on proposals, through detailed design and steel procurement, to project construction bidding and support. Oversee detailed design and equipment procurement, project construction bidding, commissioning, and construction support for energization.
+ **Technical Team Direction** : Direct a technical project team in structural steel and concrete analysis, design, and detailing for transmission and distribution electrical substations with voltage classes up to 345kV.
+ **Substation Design Studies** : Review and perform studies and calculations for substation design, including grounding calculations, lightning protection calculations, battery bank sizing calculations, conduit fill calculations, substation sizing calculations, and AC & DC substation studies.

**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent
+ Professional Engineer licensure and ability to obtain reciprocity in multiple states
+ Civil/structural, physical substation or P&C experience related to electrical power substation design for Coops, Municipalities, and/or IOUs.
+ Knowledge of standard building codes including IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE 7, AWS, ASCE 113, and NESC (Experience with IEEE standards a plus). RUS substation design guide and NESC.
+ Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% when needed within the continental U.S.
+ Must have a valid driver's license without restrictions.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience with CDEGS ground grid design software and AutoCAD.
+ Experience with RISA 3D, L-Pile, Civil 3D, and EnerCALC.

**Description**
As a Substation Engineer with Asplundh Engineering Services (AES), you will maintain a range of responsibilities involving Substations, including protection and control and physical design. You will assist in completing assignments independently, as well as working closely with other engineering and design team members to fulfill distinct roles across multiple projects.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Develop electrical substation drawings including single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, physical layouts, sections and elevations, and other related details and sketches
+ Perform design calculations and analysis such as grounding system analysis, lightning protection, voltage drop, power system sizing (AC and DC), and other industry-standard calculations
+ Work closely with designers and drafters to develop drawings of high quality both technically and aesthetically
+ Develop technical equipment and construction specifications, work scopes, estimates, and recommendation reports as needed by the project
+ Work closely with Engineers to develop foundation and structure drawings, including mounting patterns and equipment layouts.
**Education & Experience**
+ Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
+ 2-5 years experience in electrical design involving power systems.
+ Must be proficient with typical office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Windows
**Qualifications**
+ Must be 18 years of age or older.
+ Strong technical writing skills
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Effective communication skills both written and verbal
+ Experience with Protection and Control design, including familiarity with one-line diagrams of several different station configurations.
+ Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NEMA, and other industry standards and their applicability to diverse types of substations
+ Ability to use drafting software(s) preferred
+ Ability and willingness to work occasional extra hours to support clients and deadlines, including weekends
+ Must be self-motivated and poses good time management skills to complete tasks and projects with a moderate amount of supervision
