Overview

The focus of your experience must be in the power delivery industry and be associated with electrical engineering with respect to the physical design of utility scale substation development.
The responsibilities for the position include, but may not be limited to:
* Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team.
* Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for substation scopes.
* Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.
* Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
* Develops estimates of technical efforts for projects.
* Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
* Prepares technical specification sections.
* Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
* Responsible for assisting with identification of key client interests and drivers and may determine the key clients in some instances.

**Qualifications**
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 6 years of relevant high voltage substation design (physical) experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
+ Professional engineer license (PE)
+ Experience with use of AutoCAD and/or Bentley MicroStation
+ Experience with use of CDEGS, WinIGS
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Proficiency in assessing mechanical forces and thermal effects of high fault currents on rigid bus
+ Knowledge of construction practices and constructability
+ Experience with proposal writing and project estimating
+ Working knowledge of scheduling and project controls processes
+ EIT Certification
+ 2-3 years of overseeing and managing a project team
+ Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and assignments.
+ Superior Verbal & Written Communications

Leidos Engineering has an opportunity for a **Substation Engineering Manager** . This position will be part of our unique and fast-growing EPC Solutions group, which sits within our Power Delivery Solutions division that provides consulting services to both public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities. These consulting services provide clients with overall project management tasks in the areas of comprehensive engineering design of electrical transmission and distribution, substation and transmission line projects nationwide.
**As an EPC Substation Engineering Manager, you can expect to:**
+ Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the EPC Solutions protection and control, substation physical, CAD, and SCADA/settings teams: in charge of employee engagement, performance reviews, salary negotiations, interviewing/hiring, work quality, budgets and schedules, mentorship and growth, proposal development, project execution, client interaction, and business development.
+ Prepare and review proposals, technical write-ups and project approach documents for small, medium and large EPC projects. This includes preparation and review of comprehensive project scopes of work and accurate man-hour estimates.
+ Build meaningful relationships with our robust list of long-standing utility clients and construction partners. Function as client Point of Contact (P.O.C) and liaison with clients on project-related issues.
+ Provide technical training and mentorship to junior staff.
+ Understand and apply industry standards, applicable state and federal safety codes, regulatory compliance requirements and construction codes to projects.
+ Provide technical oversight, direction, and support for project teams.
+ Ensure and facilitate project team collaboration and communication across all disciplines and resolve design conflicts as required.
+ Collaborate with our internal teams of talent acquisition (TA), human resources (HR), project management, and financial team members to align your team's objectives with the objectives of the larger section and division.
**What Sets You Apart (Background Requirements):**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university, with 8 plus (8+) years of relevant experience in utility substation/P&C engineering
+ Professional Engineer (PE) certification required
+ Experienced in both substation electrical physical and P&C design, leading substation projects, and performing QA/QC reviews
+ Experience with Proposal and pricing development creation
+ Expertise with staff training/mentorship
+ Experience in client facing settings/serving as firm-client liaison
