The Supervisor of Substation Transmission Engineering leads a team of engineers and technical staff responsible for the design, analysis, and support of high-voltage substation projects, large generator interconnection projects, and major customer projects across the transmission system. This role ensures engineering deliverables meet safety, reliability, regulatory, and operational standards while aligning with company goals and project timelines. The supervisor also establishes priorities for team members, ensuring efficient resource allocation and timely execution of engineering tasks.
1) Oversee a team of 10-12 engineers, designers, and technical administrators responsible for the design, review, and
approval of substation engineering plans; Civil/site, above grade, below grade, and controls design packages.
2) Collaborate with multiple business units across T&D; Substation Distribution Engineering, PMO, Major Customer Projects, Interconnection Projects, System Protection, Controls Engineering, Substation Construction and Maintenance, P&C Construction and Maintenance, Transmission Planning Engineering, Operations, etc.
3) Manage a diverse team consisting of three groups: Electrical design engineers, civil design engineers,
apparatus engineers.
4) Provide electrical and civil engineering resource allocations for capital and maintenance projects.
5) Develop department budget and manage department expenditures within approved limits.
6) Foster a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
7) Lead efforts to standardize substation engineering practices and design templates.
8) Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new and changing processes, technologies or regulations that may impact
work of team.
9) Provide technical guidance and support to ensure the highest quality project is produced; provides technical direction to ensure the section performs effectively according to sound engineering principles, practices, procedural standards and regulatory requirements.
10) Effectively interfaces with customers and other departments to ensure project objectives are achieved and
costs contained within the budget.

+ Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Atlanta Georgia protection and control, substation physical, CAD, and SCADA teams: in charge of employee engagement, performance reviews, salary negotiations, interviewing/hiring, work quality, budgets and schedules, mentorship and growth, project execution, client interaction, and business expansion.

**Primary Responsibilities**
+ Support capital execution of projects as it relates to Substation design, materials, equipment. Lead the development of processes focusing on operations and engineering practices that drive strong reliability and performance.
+ Lead the Substation project team towards establishment of technical qualifications and policies. Review the specifications of the equipment and ensure the equipment design are as per the Dominion requirement.
+ Coordinate with different stakeholders and provide direct input to substation project plans. Collaborate with responsible groups and facilitate smooth transition of the design to implementation.
+ Develop design requirements relating to the application of equipment in substations. Assist with interpretation and communication of company policies and procedures to internal stakeholders and external project support partners.
+ Provide technical expertise and/or team leadership as needed. Develop trainings for engineers/partner groups and assist less experienced colleagues in planning, conceptual/detail engineering, and the field.
+ Engage with manufacturers and suppliers (plant/factory visits, project site visits) and represent Substation Engineering department on new equipment and vendor evaluations.
+ Engage in industry forums, and events (IEEE, SEE, CIGRE, etc.). Support the project team at state and county commissions hearings and community open houses.
+ Facilitate Substation equipment specification and drawings review, co-ordinate with manufacturers and vendors to make sure they adhere to the company requirements.
+ Review existing materials, components, and design standards for process improvements, cost savings, etc. Perform independent and/or collaborative research to find innovative and cost-effective engineering solution to operational problems.
+ Serve as a management consultant on complex engineering problems and issues. Control technical, financial, and service commitments to internal and external customers.
**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience**
+ Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience (Utility Substations applications) or demonstrated equivalent.
+ Thorough understanding and knowledge of substation components and their functions
+ Firm understanding of the substation design principles and practices for major substation equipment, transmission lines and distribution feeder configurations
+ In depth knowledge of engineering theories, principles, standards, codes, concepts, and their application
+ Ability to read, interpret, and modify one-line diagrams, Substation plan and elevation drawings

Overview
Directs, coordinates, and supervises the daily activities of PPL substation engineers, internal, and external contract engineering resources performing substation and relay design. Direct report assignments include large, complex substation design projects. Qualifications
1. Bachelor's Degree from an ABET Accredited school in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
2. 5+ years of Engineering experience, or a master's degree in engineering plus 3 years of engineering experience, or a PhD in Engineering plus 2 years of engineering experience. Utility system operator experience will be counted as engineering experience for this position.
3. Demonstrated leadership skills by achieving positive results under non-ideal circumstances
4. Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry codes and standards related to the electric utility industry
