**Production Supervisor**
_Work Mode: Onsite_
**Location:** Onsite - Kohler, WI
**We're hiring for a 3rd Shift Supervisor!**
**Schedule:** Monday - Friday, 9:00 PM - 5:00 AM
**Note:** Occasional Saturdays may be required.
**Opportunity**
Responsible for organizing, coordinating and supervising activities of the Iron Foundry - Induction Melting Department and all supporting functions as necessary to provide the required amount of melted iron of correct temperature and composition as noted in iron specifications.
**Specific Responsibilities**
+ Read prints and update and maintain prints for refractory work and mechanical equipment.
+ Maintain inventories of purchased melt materials including steel, cast, and shredded.
+ Change charge based on revert inventory and charge material cost. Record all changes.
+ Inspect incoming raw materials and determine disposition of defective material and issue SDMR
+ Select and maintain refractory inventory.
+ Responsible for daily furnace repair schedules.
+ Maintain performance records for ladles, furnaces, launders, HMC ladles and schedule repairs to maintain adequate supply.
+ Schedule melt furnaces for ductile iron production based on electrical reading.
+ Monitor channel furnace reactance and shell temperature and schedule repairs as needed (hot gunning repairs).
+ Maintain auto-pour and make repairs between major rebuilds and supply stopper rods for production.
+ Troubleshoot refractory problems and recommend changes. Stay current with refractory technology and maintain contact with refractory vendors.
+ Adjust and maintain Melt lab (CE) computer program.
+ Responsible for communicating production run times and iron schedules.
+ Monitor and react to ductile iron process.
+ Maintain and update CC (contract casting) computer program. Keep Contract Casting computer program current. Make changes to the program to fit quality and production requirements.
+ Schedule manpower to meet production requirements considering vacation and absenteeism.
+ Coordinate manpower with first and second shift to insure adequate staffing to meet production schedules.
**Skills/Requirements**
+ Foundry furnace and ladle refractories experience is preferred.
+ The ability to troubleshoot refractory problems and recommend changes is preferred.
+ The ability to respond to emergencies is also required.
+ The ability to read and update prints, basic computer skills with the ability to understand/learn new programs required.
+ Previous supervisory experience preferred.
+ A minimum of an associate's degree, technical diploma, or equivalent work experience.

What You Will Do

  • Lead an operating team in compliance in safety, health, environmental, and quality
  • Drive safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively identify hazards and implement appropriate mitigating strategies; investigate incidents and participate in resolution of causes
  • Coach, train, and develop operations personnel in safety, quality, and production
  • Ensure best practices are followed for minimization of waste at machine centers
  • Address key issues and concerns and interact with employees from other departments to ensure quality, on-time production
  • Plan, assign and direct work for all hourly production employees; appraise performance and provide feedback as needed; assist in resolving complaints; hold employees accountable as needed; communicate issues and results on a daily basis

The Night Production Supervisor has the responsibility for directing shift personnel in the operation of the facility, ensuring consistent manufacture of finished products meeting all customer volume and quality requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate activities within all process areas ensuring product meets all defined scheduling and quality requirements.
  • Work with Operators to organize and maximize inclusion of all raw materials and rework to be utilized in production process.
  • Ensure that physical characteristics are monitored hourly.
  • Evaluate products for specs, grits, flavor, density, mix abilities and moisture, ensuring finished product meets all quality specifications.
  • Implement and enforce safety and regulatory programs to ensure long term safe operation of the facility.
  • Lead and supervise all production personnel in functional areas constantly raising the standard of performance.
  • Help development programs for employees including SOP’s, quality specifications, safety, and job expectations.
  • Responsible for communicating performance/KPI’s to the team on a daily basis.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy and timely completion of all shift reports including Inventory levels as the plants KPI matrix. Coordinate all record keeping with Production Manager such as production, quality assurance, inventory control, production planning and administrative personnel.
  • Responsible for nightly production reporting
  • Team with Plant Manager and Production Manager with the continual evaluation of production and efficiency records to improve equipment capabilities and outputs.
  • Help develop the weekly and/or monthly production schedule and employee staffing in accordance to business needs.
  • Maintain and improve all plant sanitation programs. Responsible for keeping the plant clean and orderly at all times.
  • Coordinate and schedule equipment repairs with Maintenance department as necessary and coordinate preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with all company, state and federal safety and regulatory policies and practices.
  • Assist with period-end and year-end balancing of inventories.

Position Requirements:

  • 2+ years previous management experience, preferably in a dairy processing plant
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong working knowledge of computer software applications

Manufacturing Supervisor- 3rd Shift

As 3rd shift Production Supervisor, you will use your leadership and supervisory skills with all hourly employees in the Cheese and Drying departments. You will work closely with the plant and corporate management staff to ensure that the highest quality of finished product is produced within the scheduled timelines in a safe and efficient manner.

Training and development of people is key! You will gather input for performance reviews and actively coach/mentor employees to reach their optimum potential. You will also make corrections as needed, coordinating with Production Leads and Trainers. Hiring the best people is our goal. Take active leadership role in promoting diversity and inclusion.

We focus on continuous improvement in cost, quality, service , people, and environment thru efficient use of materials, equipment, and resources. You will be able to use your initiative to share best practices within the facility, across our supply chain, and with external resources to achieve leading-edge manufacturing and supply chain technologies.

We are a team-oriented environment. You will partner with plant Management, Quality, Maintenance, Human Resources, Scheduling and Logistics.

Work Schedule: Cheese Crew 11:00 pm to 7:00 am(must be available to working on all shifts).

Other focuses:

  • Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Morale at the Kiel facility.
  • Root cause/corrective action investigations for unplanned events.
  • Ensure compliance of GMP's and the Food Safety Plan.
  • Communicate and coordinate with supervisors and functions to optimize operations and resources.
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production schedules to meet and exceed customer requirements and business goals.
  • Understand the financial impact of Line Efficiency, Material Yield, and Labor Productivity on plant budgets and develop Action Plans to address gaps.
  • Take active leadership role in promoting diversity and inclusion.

Education & Experience (Required):

  • High school/GED and 2+ years' experience in shift supervision (preferably in food processing environment).
  • Experience with GMP's, HAACP, sanitation, and quality assurance.
  • Must possess strong leadership skills, problem solving skills, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills at various levels of the company.
  • Leads through positive influence.
  • Computer skills, including usage of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective communication skills for working cross-functionally in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while remaining organized and detail-oriented.

Education & Experience (Preferred):

  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university strongly preferred.Major:Business Administration, Science/Food Science, Engineering, Agricultural or related areas.
  • 1+ years experience inOperations.
  • Supervisory experience in a unionized environment.

  • Leads continuous improvement efforts within the plant to ensure sanitation programs are developed and implemented within the production organization.
  • Drives knowledge and understanding of sanitation practices throughout the plant; provide best practices expertise surrounding cleaning practices, CIP systems and sanitary design of equipment and processes.
  • Oversees the implementation of concepts to support hazard analysis, risk assessments, sanitation, continuous improvement and system/process application.
  • Continuously evaluates facility sanitary conditions, assessing risk based on food safety and public health principles, prioritizing corrective actions, and verifying sanitation activities and validation testing.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations.
  • Excellent communicator, experienced at delivering training.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or related field with Operations Management and 3+ years of food, beverage or dairy sanitation experience OR High School Diploma and 5+ year of Sanitation experience in a food, dairy or beverage industry.
  • Experience implementing leadership and leading people in a manufacturing/production environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Skilled in project management orientation and implementing organizational change related projects.
  • Uses explicitly defined visual processes to track and follow-up on assignments and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting complex documents and responding effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Experience making effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to management.
  • Knowledge of chemical usage and safety.
