Seeking Licensed Pediatric Neuropsychologist or Assessment Psychologist
Position Description: Kimel Psychological Services (KPS) is looking for a pediatric neuropsychologist or child psychologist for a growing group psychology practice and developmental disabilities and learning disorders clinic. The ideal candidate is a Colorado Licensed or License-eligible Psychologist specializing in providing comprehensive assessment services for children to adults with an emphasis on developmental disabilities and learning disorders. This position emphasizes assessment services, particularly during our busiest times, but we welcome well-rounded psychologists who are also skilled at and interested in providing psychotherapy services. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help grow the practice while keeping the integrity and quality of the work we do. Our clinic is supportive, collaborative, intellectually stimulating, and engaging. We do monthly staff engagement events. We currently accept private pay, Medicaid and Kaiser.
A Little About Us: KPS is a small, minority- and woman-owned mental health practice that focuses on patient-centered care and is known for its excellence and expertise in developmental disabilities and learning disorders. We provide empirically supported and culturally sensitive psychotherapy and evaluation services. We serve families ages 1 through adulthood and offer a range of diagnostic evaluation services including cognitive/intellectual abilities, academic achievement, attention disorders, emotional functioning, fetal substance exposure, head injury, and a range of developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD). KPS serves people in the Denver Metro and surrounding areas. We have an ongoing commitment to cultural competency and dedication to meeting the treatment and assessment needs of patients from any background.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Provide high quality, compassionate and ethical clinical care to clients as scheduled.
- Provide comprehensive psychoeducational and neuropsychological assessments to identify developmental disabilities, giftedness, learning disabilities, ADHD, mood disorders, and related issues.
- Complete detailed assessment reports in a timely manner, with the completion of rough drafts to be done within 10 days of the final testing session, or sooner depending on the circumstances of the referral.
- Maintain good standing with the appropriate board and professional organizations.
- Complete all recommended continuing education requirements.
- A commitment to evidence-based assessment and keeping up with research and best practices.
- Be aware of internal and community referral sources and refer when necessary.
- Secure client information per HIPAA standards.
- Maintain case files within paper and electronic health record (EHR) that are up to date.
- Perform other duties related to cases (including but not limited to working on pre-billing forms, phone calls, presentations, and participating in case consultation meetings).
- Possibilities for psychotherapy with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or mood disorders exist as well if there is interest.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have extensive training and experience administering comprehensive psychological, developmental, and psychoeducational assessments to individuals ages 2-25 (but may have experience with older individuals as well), with expertise in the gold standard autism measures (ADOS and ADI-R) cognitive/IQ testing (WPPSI-IV, WISC-V, WAIS-IV), achievement testing (WIAT-III and/or WJ), and additional cognitive, behavioral, and emotional measures commonly used in comprehensive assessments.
- Prefer candidates with knowledge and understanding of the unique needs of individuals with developmental disabilities; however, all staff members receive ongoing training and mentoring on developmental disability issues as an integral part of our work at KPS.
- Understanding of ADA, IDEA, and special education services including IEP, BIP, and 504-Plans.
- Demonstrates awareness of ethical considerations and potential clinical issues that may arise during client interactions and appropriately seeks professional consultation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Familiar with using electronic health record for clinical documentation.
- Maintains professional competence by pursuing opportunities for continuing education.
- Commitment to serving diverse clients, including clients of diverse linguistic and ethnic backgrounds as well as LGBTQIA, and Gifted/Twice Exceptional clients.
- Must be eligible to apply to be a Medicaid and Kaiser provider under this practice (i.e., must be licensed already).
- Skilled in supervising graduate students.
- Skilled in working independently and implementing time management strategies.
- Ability to demonstrate positive team interactions with other clinic staff.
- Ability and willingness to accept and incorporate feedback on clinical and professional skills.
- Practice with integrity and ethics. Know your competencies and limitations and refer to a team member and/or consult when needed.
- Ability to provide necessary self-care.
- Must be tech savvy (highly competent and comfortable with technology) and own a smartphone and home computer.
- Dependable and responsive. Easy to get along with and grounded.
- Great personality and sense of humor.
- Must NOT currently be in private practice.
Education:
- A Ph.D. or Psy.D.in clinical psychology, school psychology, neuropsychology, or educational psychology.
- APA Accredited pre-doctoral internship.
- Licensed as a Psychologist with the State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.
- Eligible for credentialing with Medicaid and Kaiser.
Key Job Details:
- Candidates must be available to work one to two full days a week (9-3PM) plus to have set time for parent interviews, parent feedbacks, scoring and writing (that can be done from home as well), and to be available for consultation/supervision meetings (individual and group guidance as needed).
- Most child assessments are conducted in the morning hours. Adult assessment vary. The clinician can take anywhere from 1-2 evaluations a week, depending on how busy they would like to be.
