Key Responsibilities
+ Serve as the primary point of contact for quality and technical issues with key suppliers, including Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs)
+ Collaborate cross-functionally as a member of the Supplier Engineering Team to proactively manage supplier quality activities
+ Monitor and report on supplier performance metrics, driving continuous improvement

+ Participate in supplier selection, evaluation, and auditing processes
+ Lead and support Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to resolve supplier-related issues
Qualifications:

Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring product quality by addressing product discrepancies and collaborating closely with engineers and manufacturing teams. Your expertise will be crucial in problem resolution and providing quality recommendations, as well as inspecting and evaluating returned products for defects.
Responsibilities
+ Work closely with engineers and manufacturing teams for problem resolution and provide quality recommendations.
+ Inspect and evaluate customer returned products for defects and reporting.
+ Compile quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, in-process rejections, and warranty returns.
+ Evaluate and monitor the manufacturing, assembly, and testing processes.
+ Compile rework and non-conforming trend analysis.
+ Review records for completeness including work orders, dimensional check sheets, and test data sheets. Verify correctness of test and recorded results.
+ Develop reports for management review.
+ Maintain compliance with the Material Review Board process for Non-Conformances.
+ Review non-conforming material reports for trending and corrective action solutions, including supplier evaluations.
+ Perform quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements.
+ Other duties as assigned.

**Job Summary**
Join our Danbury, CT organization as a Supplier Quality Engineer. This role is responsible for supplier quality including supporting procurement and supplier development improvements. You will perform supplier audits, source inspections, and supplier performance analysis activities. The ideal candidate can work independently and provide technical training and mentorship to junior Engineers, Technicians, and Inspectors.
**What You Will Do**
+ Use technical process expertise and experiences in mechanical assembly to drive successful launch of supplied components and actively work with commodity suppliers on process and quality management system continuous improvement
+ Collaborate with cross-functional team members including Global Sourcing, Quality, Operations, Engineering, and more
+ Participate in onsite assessment and evaluation of potential supplier manufacturing capability and quality system competency
+ Perform component risk analysis based on design, manufacturing, and customer requirement complexity
+ Collaborate with supply chain to ensure applicable quality clauses and/or other flow down requirements are captured on sourcing award PO and that suppliers understand the requirements
+ Work to actively deploy DRS Naval Power Systems defined Supplier Quality procedures, processes, and work instructions; leads process and procedure reviews with cross-functional teams
+ Assist in Product Realization (APQP) elements of identified high risk components with the supplier to ensure quality requirements are adhered to and start of production timing is delivered to project and change milestones
+ Ensure supplier first article inspection packages are submitted to project timing requirements with 100% site approval first pass yield
+ Collaborate with under-performing suppliers to guide them through systemic corrective actions and site visits to improve supplier performance
+ Assist with developing supplier quality metrics
+ Provide regular reporting of progress and status
+ 5% travel and able to travel with short notice (48 hours or less)
**Education & Experience Requirements**
+ Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2 years of quality experience
+ Experienced with ISO Standards, Six Sigma tools, statistics
+ ASQ certification or Black Belt preferred
+ Ability to understand military specifications and to read blueprints
+ A problem-solver able to provide training to supplier and internal team members
+ Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, and writing skills
+ Ability to define problems and drive to root cause and effective corrective action
U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
