Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
The Supply Chain Engineer is responsible for specialty fiber management (Submarine, SMOG, new products) in order to meet forecasted product demand, manage inventory levels and distributions and provide order commitments. This role requires collaboration across plant departments, PLM and Commercial. In addition to fiber management, this role will provide models and reporting to monitor inventory and capacity, manage experimental inventory and act as the SAP power user for Planning. The role will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager.
**Core responsibilities:**
Include managing submarine, SMOG and new product orders, participating in demand and allocation management, reviewing production processes to meet customer orders, and presenting key information in planning meetings. The role also involves inventory review, safety stock maintenance, and financial projections analysis. SAP Power user, main point of contact for the SAP project for Planning.
**Required qualifications and experience:**
A bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management is required, with at least 3 years in a Supply Chain or Engineering role. Strong communication, both written and oral, multitasking, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential.
**Technical and desired skills:**
Proficiency in production and inventory management concepts, data analysis, and use of MRP/ERP systems like PeopleSoft or SAP is needed. Desired skills include strong organization, communication, business acumen, financial analysis, and understanding of LEAN concepts.
**Duties and Responsibilities:**
- Works with supply chain organizations outside the plant to establish manufacturing run plans for specialty fiber that meets capacity requirements and forecast needs.
- Identifies and manages critical inventory segments for all specialty product lines.
- Acts as the Supply Chain representative on various plant and division projects

The **Boeing Supply Chain Engineering** team is seeking an **Industrial Engineer** to join our **greater San Diego-area** location. We welcome applicants across experience levels and candidates at Level 2, Level 3, or Level 4 will be considered.
This position provides Industrial Engineering and Lean deployment functional excellence within Boeing's supply chain by rapidly analyzing, designing, and implementing sustainable production system improvements. Industrial Engineers lead initiatives aimed at supporting on-time delivery, enhancing quality, and driving cost improvements through application of Industrial Engineering principles. Each team member works in close collaboration with Boeing stakeholders and supplier leadership to plan and implement improvement projects and train suppliers on a rapid process improvement framework.
Projects range across the Enterprise including BCA, BDS, and BGS engagements in collaboration with Global Field Operations (GFO) and Supply Chain Operation teams.
