GLOBAL SUPPLY MANAGER, POWER SYSTEMS (STARLINK)

The SpaceX Supply Chain Department is a critical player in our operations. To capitalize on our technical and market success, our team will execute large-scale projects that will define the bottom line for the company. The functions within the department include procurement, planning and fulfillment, supplier development and quality, logistics, and inventory. The Global Supply Manager for our Power Systems team will specifically own the Strategic Sourcing centered around our work in the Solar and Battery space.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Develop and manage the supply base to support sourcing for the solar and battery space, supplementing the Starlink satellites, satellite subsystems and ground stations
* Provide weekly team status reporting, escalate to management when necessary
* Train and mentor, working to ensure that the team is continuously improving
* Work directly with key suppliers to develop and implement sourcing and cost management strategies that support existing platforms and new product development
* Work directly with key internal stakeholders to develop and implement sourcing and cost management strategies that support capital purchases and production consumables
* Understand the technical aspects of production equipment to identify opportunities for cost, space, and process optimization and use data analytics to identify and parse process related opportunities
* Utilize negotiations to maximize value, cost savings and priority in terms of delivery for SpaceX while lowering risk; manage costs to ensure alignment with program budgets
* Build and own overall project budgets, compile funding requests, and generate capitalization plan based on project timeline focusing on TCO of the categories managed
* Conduct research, perform benchmarking, and gather market analysis for assigned categories
* Communicate overall equipment status to the management team including schedules, risks and mitigation actions and respond quickly to changes to the overall goals, schedule, and architecture
* Create sourcing strategies to reduce risk, enable continuous cost reduction and align with company strategy on payment terms, cash targets, on time delivery and cost savings
* Build genuine relationships both internally and externally and drive cross-functional teams to achieve consensus
* Present value propositions to SpaceX executives, including those related to contract award, cost reviews, cost reduction strategies and critical supply issues

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or 10+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:
* Engineering
* Purchasing
* Contract negotiation
* Material or production planning
* Operations or supply chain management
* Material cost control
* Master production scheduling
* Capital equipment sourcing

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

* Experience directly negotiating contracts and sourcing global suppliers
* Experience with sourcing from a global supply base, and familiarity interfacing in-person with suppliers around the world.
* Experience within the solar and/or battery field
* Ability to prioritize appropriately to meet internal customer and company needs
* Effective written and verbal communications skills, with strong ability to communicate to all levels of internal personnel
* Detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environment
* Ability to conduct all activities with integrity and urgency

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Able to travel for short and extended trips as needed - up to 30% work week travel may be required, including international travel
* Must be able to work flexible and extended hours and on weekends as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Global Supply Manager: $125,000.00 - $180,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. This Commodity Implementation Buyer position will be responsible for purchasing commodities that help support the Ford EV revolution. Position will entail responsibilities on delivering excellence on Ford's Hybrid and Battery Electric Vehicles through providing technical and negotiation expertise related one or more components listed below. The candidate can expect to interact with supplier contacts primarily in North America, but could potentially be from other regions of the world. The candidate will also interact with internal Ford personnel in North America, Europe, and China, as well as CAF (Ford/Changan joint venture) and Ford Otosan.
What you'll do.
+ Commodities: Power-electronics- Main focus on Ultra-capacitors, PCBA and Electronic components (Actives and Passives).
+ Knowledge on contract manufacturer for ECU and full assembly modules for Inverter, On-board charger, Battery Management Systems - assembly and component procurement.
+ Lead the creating and implementation of comprehensive commodity strategies that align to business objectives.
+ Looking for an individual with technical or manufacturing expertise in the commodities above where they have a deep understanding of the BOM and costs associated including: cost drivers, design/cost/process efficiency best practices, optimization of capital/tooling and competitive intelligence.
+ Understand and eliminate key quality obstacles and help implement quality best practices for the respective commodity.
+ Lead process to source commodities on time and satisfy program targets with quality.
+ Primary focus is on effectively negotiating to achieve Best Cost at Job 1. Some situations may require to negotiate annual TVM reductions to eliminate cost gaps and meet department objectives.
+ Understand physicals of the parts, supplier costs, and cost gaps.
+ Drive for data transparency from the supply base to support fact based negotiations to deliver cost targets.
+ Develop sourcing strategies, issue/analyze RFQs, supplier negotiation/selection, execute Sourcing Contracts
+ Work with global counterparts to develop and maintain commodity strategy.
+ Treat suppliers with respect while holding them accountable for all aspects of delivery (product, quotes, cost, Q1 scores, etc).
+ Communicate and establish strong relationships with Engineering counterparts to understand their needs and needs of the programs.
+ Work closely with Engineering team to drive and continue to develop commodity sourcing strategies
+ Act as a leader and assist others within the group as needed

What's the Job?

  • Produce internal boards, bracket assemblies, connectors, case assemblies, and wiring, preparing them for final processing.

  • Install parts or components requiring special care in handling, using a variety of equipment and hand tools.

  • Work with and read wiring diagrams, blueprints, and bills of material to sub-assemble electronic components.

  • Make minor procedural decisions in soldering and fitting within established guidelines.

  • Perform visual and electrical checks to ensure quality and accuracy of work.

What's Needed?

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in hand soldering through-hole and surface mount components to PCBs.

  • Advanced knowledge of color code and soldering techniques.

  • Ability to safely use hand tools such as heat guns, arbor presses, and soldering irons.

  • JSTD or IPC certification preferred.
