Air Reserve Technicians are full-time civilian employees who are also members of the Air Force Reserve unit in which they are employed. In addition to their civilian assignments, they are assigned to equivalent positions in the Reserve organization with a Reserve military rank or grade. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with other group CCs, representatives/senior staff at Numbered AF, HQ AFRC, and gaining MAJCOMs. Accomplishes special staff studies and projects resulting from reorganizations, regulatory changes, new technology, mission changes, etc. Identifies the need for studies, establishes goals and objectives, and accomplishes research. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications THIS IS AN AIR RESERVE TECHNICIAN OFFICER POSITION. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Officer position located at 507 MISSION SUPPORT GP with the military rank of Col/O-6, AFSC: 030X0. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes performing work with in-depth knowledge of planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling the activities and operations of the Mission Support Group. This includes but not limited to logistics planning and readiness, communications, civil engineering, personnel, security forces and services. Manages and directs the Mission Support Group through subordinate supervisors tasked to coordinate and oversee the work. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-12 grade/level or equivalent position in the federal service. Federal Time-In-Grade (TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-12 grade level or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of a variety of logistics functions including but not limited to communications, civil engineering, mission support, logistics planning and readiness, supply, transportation, contracting services, civil engineering. 2. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of several organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. 6. Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in relations with labor groups, civic groups, unit organizations, etc. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: 1. This is an ART position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies. The incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties; however, the incumbent may also be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to fly in commercial or military aircraft for performance of TDY. 2. Incumbent must be willing to move/transfer to another unit/ location on a lateral or promotion as directed by HQ AFRC. 3. ATS is actively hiring an IT Support Officer w/ TS/SCI w/ Poly to join the Mission Technology and Solutions Business Unit. Position will be based in Herndon, VA. In this role, you will install network equipment, telephones (VoIP, analog, ISDN), voice media gateways and associated service modules.

Responsibilities include:  

  • Interact with end customers daily and must have appropriate interpersonal skills. 

  • Work with on a team of telephony personnel to complete designs, see the designs completed on time and on budget. 

  • Understanding and following Critical Design Review documents and cable run lists to complete installation projects in a timely manner. 

  • Understanding both the current and future IP network architecture and standards. 

  • Performing high quality installation work in an efficient manner. 

  • Running and terminating cables to voice switch equipment. 

  • Installing and troubleshooting a variety of telephones at user locations 

  • Working with users to resolve issues with telephone service. 

  • Performing surveys as necessary to collect or validate information for the engineering or VSIT personnel. 

  • Mounting voice and network equipment in racks and running and connecting both power and service cabling as appropriate. 

  • Dressing cabling appropriately according to industry and Sponsor standards. 

  • Local travel may be required between customer buildings  

  • May have supervisory responsibilities  

 Qualifications:  

  • Minimum 10 years of experience with implementation of the following infrastructure networks: 

  • Sponsor's classified LAN infrastructure (including scripting, configuration, cutover and troubleshooting) 

  • Sponsor's unclassified LAN infrastructure (including scripting, configuration, cutover and troubleshooting) 

  • Minimum 10 years of experience installing and troubleshooting telephone instruments and media gateways on the Sponsors classified and unclassified networks. 

  • Some experience with implementation on the Sponsor's new unclassified network LAN infrastructure. 

  • Experience reading and understanding cable run lists. 

  • Experience in a variety of cabling areas including 110 type cross connections, RJ45 patch panels, wire wrap terminals, copper cable terminations, DSX Panel T-1 cabling, fiber terminations. 

  • Excellent knowledge of various cabling methodologies, industry standards and troubleshooting techniques. 

  • Ability to work with engineering personnel to assist them with any technical issues encountered. 

  • Strong communication skills due to variety of groups to be working with, such as co-workers, management, and customers; must be able to exchange accurate information.   

  • Self-motivated, organized, with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
