As a Lead Support Specialist, you will provide a supportive and safe environment in community residential settings within MHA’s ICL (Integrated Community Living) department. You will help foster growth, independence, and community engagement for individuals who have experienced a brain injury resulting in physical limitations, mental health, and/or cognitive challenges. Your role requires professionalism and collaboration with team members in alignment with MHA’s Core Values—Respect, Integrity, and Compassion—while adhering to organizational policies, program funding guidelines, and applicable regulatory standards.

Pay Rate: $21 an hour

Open Shift: -Tuesday through Friday 1pm-9pm & Saturday 9am-3pm (38h)

Essential Functions

Participant Support and Advocacy

  • Engage with participants respectfully and encouragingly to promote self-esteem and empowerment.
  • Assist, teach, or monitor participants in personal care, meal preparation, household maintenance, shopping, and other daily living tasks.
  • Adjust support based on participant needs, including personal care up to total care, transfers, and mobility assistance.
  • Facilitate community engagement by supporting access to social organizations, public transportation, counseling, educational institutions, and other resources.
  • Teach self-advocacy skills and serve as a liaison with healthcare providers, family members, and other relevant parties.
  • Assist with financial matters, including money management training, budgeting, and banking, while maintaining proper documentation of expenditures.
  • Support community integration by facilitating participation in recreational and social activities.
  • Provide transportation for participants as needed, ensuring vehicle safety and completion of required training programs.

Participant Health and Wellbeing

  • Assess individual abilities, interests, and needs to contribute to their Individual Service Plan (ISP) and document progress.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies, including medical and crisis situations, while maintaining communication with supervisory personnel.
  • Report and document incidents of participant abuse or neglect as required by agency and regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist with medical coordination, appointment scheduling, and medication administration in accordance with MAP standards.
  • Monitor participant health conditions, recording vital signs and health-related data as necessary.

Documentation

  • Complete all required program documentation accurately and within established timelines.
  • Maintain daily logs, data collection records, and shift exchange reports, including money and medication counts.
  • Report concerns or incidents to supervisory personnel promptly and document them accordingly.
  • Utilize agency reporting systems, internet-based applications, and other necessary software tools.

Safety

  • Maintain a safe workplace environment by identifying and addressing hazards and following established safety policies.
  • Assist with emergency evacuations, conduct fire drills, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Teamwork, Communication, and Professional Growth

  • Be flexible with scheduling and prepared to cover shifts as needed due to operational demands.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, supervision sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Attend required training sessions and maintain certifications, including MAP, CPR, and First Aid.
  • Exhibit professionalism, organization, and strong interpersonal skills to support program goals.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license, sufficient automobile insurance, an acceptable driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle during working hours.

JOB DESCRIPTION

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The Peer Support Specialist's role is to support others in recovery from a substance use disorder(s). The Specialist will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to recovering individuals to help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery. The Specialist will provide non-clinical services intended to aid individuals in establishing and maintaining individual recovery from addiction. The recovery coach promotes a recovery based approach to member care with an emphasis on respect, self-direction, and empowerment by providing peer support, personal assistance, education on community resources, and other supportive services for individuals with a substance abuse disorder (SUD).

The specialist in this role will join the MAT team in outreach efforts within the community and help locate individuals that are lost to care. The Peer Support Specialist must demonstrate an ability to share personal recovery experiences and to develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain project logs, reports and records in appropriate files and database(s).
  • Provide and assist with immediate interventions as it pertains to an individual's recovery using harm reduction and recovery based methods.
  • Provide recovery based education to service recipients for every phase of the recovery journey from pre-recovery engagement, recovery initiation, recovery stabilization, and sustained recovery maintenance for individuals with substance use disorders.
  • Demonstrates positive beliefs and feelings regarding clients with varying levels of needs as it pertains to the individual's recovery.
  • Collects client data needed for GPRA interviews and conducts follow up surveys as a requirement from SAMSHA.
  • Provides clients with ongoing education regarding substance abuse, mental health, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, tobacco, nutrition and exercise and other health and wellness information.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, including ability to communicate in a professional manner.
  • Ensure emergency basic needs are addressed immediately (i.e. food, temporary housing, transportation, clothing, etc.) that would put the individuals recovery in jeopardy.
  • Make follow-up calls after all referrals are made.
  • Ability to facilitate recovery support groups as needed and addiction education groups.
  • Assist/coach recovering persons develop their own plan for advancing their recovery.
  • Actively identify and support linkages to community resources (communities of recovery, educational, vocational, social, cultural, spiritual resources, mutual self- help groups, professional services, etc.) that support the recovering person's goals and interests. This will involve a collaborative effort including the recovering person, agency staff and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Support connections to community based, mutual self-help groups. Link individuals to appropriate professional resources when needed. Provide vision-driven hope and encouragement for opportunities at varying levels of involvement in community-based activities (e.g., work, school, relationships, physical activity, self-directed hobbies, etc.) and develop relationships with community groups/agencies in partnership with others in the agency.
  • Visit community resources with recovering persons to assist in becoming familiar with potential opportunities.
  • Maintain contact by phone and/or e-mail with recovering person after they leave the program to ensure their ongoing success and to provide re-engagement support in partnership with others in the agency if needed to promote the individuals recovery journey.
  • Other duties as directed by Director and/or Program Staff.


ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Develop, implement, and promote ongoing community outreach and client-centered recovery coaching.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Education: High school diploma/G.E.D. Required

Minimum Years of Experience in Must have worked within the last three years with at least 12 months total of paid employment in the recovery field or have recovery related voluntary work experience.

Active Certification in good Standing: Must have acquired or meet the qualifications for the certification as a Recovery Coach or Recovery Support Specialist

Bilingual: Yes - Language preferred: Spanish

The Community Support Specialist is accountable for assisting the Community Outreach and Member Experience departments with ensuring the success of Council programming. She/he will assist Community Outreach in delivering community-based programming to ensure that Girl Scout program opportunities are provided to all communities.  She/he will assist Member Experience with scheduling Community Outreach Program Facilitators to assist at recruitment events.  The Community Support Specialist will assist the Community Outreach Program Manager with onboarding new Community Outreach Program Facilitators.  She/he must portray a positive image that is representative of policies, procedures, and always promotes excellent customer service to internal/external stakeholders.

 MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Delivers community-based program to girls in all communities to meet the Council’s goals, objectives, and initiatives, including membership goals.
  • Builds and nurtures collaborative relationships with community organizations, schools, agencies, and businesses to support and enhance community-based program opportunities.
  • Increases visibility and raises awareness of Girl Scouting in communities through networking activities, organizational memberships, booth displays, and speaking engagements.
  • Organizes scheduling of programs and staffing needs for in-school, after-school, organization/agency, and other community-based programming.
  • Maintains accurate records pertaining to attendance, incidents, surveys, and other data.
  • Assists with managing program facilitators throughout the state (scheduling, training, and recruitment assignments).
  • Assist with pre-screening Program Facilitator candidates for hire.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with Community Outreach Program Manager.
  • Recruits volunteers at staff led community-based programs to potentially transition to volunteer led programming/troops.
  • Promotes additional Council and other Girl Scout opportunities.
  • Helps create and monitor budgets, including the purchases of bulk program supplies.
  • Maintains accurate records of grant expenses and assists in compiling narrative reports due to funders.
  • Embrace and enhance a culture that values diversity, and ensures that staff, girl and volunteer efforts reflect the council’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Works cooperatively and closely with Member Experience department on an on-going basis to support Council efforts.
  • Assist with approving Program Facilitators payroll (as needed basis only). 
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

CORE COMPETENCIES :

  • Ability to collaborate and create internal partnerships council-wide to achieve membership goals (recruitment/marketing).
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule (evenings/weekends) to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail with project management skills.  

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE:

 Bachelor’s Degree preferred, preferably in Education or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Two years of experience working with youth.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish (advanced verbal and written communication) preferred.

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS and PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  •  Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including occasional nights, weekends, and occasional overnight settings.
  • Conduct presentations to a diverse audience to promote Girl Scouting.
  • Ability to maneuver around an event setting, including set up, facilitation, and cleanup.
  • Active participation in Product Sales Initiatives.
  • Represent GSOFCT in professional manner (presentation and attire) in both the corporate and not-for-profit environment.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of staff, volunteers, and girls.
  • Knowledge of current Girl issues and Girl Scout programming.
  • Intermediate/Advance Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce.
  • Statewide travel required.

The **Coding Support Specialist** plays a vital role in supporting daily operations within the Acute and Ambulatory Middle Revenue Cycle. This position focuses on key performance indicators such as DNFC, Pre-AR days, and Charge Lag days. The specialist assists in planning, coordinating, and executing both analytical and operational tasks related to revenue cycle projects.
This position is full-time, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.
We offer 4 weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of training will be aligned with your schedule.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
