Job DescriptionPosition Purpose: Associates in Store Support positions are responsible for a variety of non-sales functions. This may include ensuring an outstanding customer order fulfillment experience, assisting customers in the lot or providing administrative services. Direct customer or vendor interaction is sometimes required for these positions. Whether directing customers to store departments or merchandise, answering customer questions on product order status, handling cash management or program compliance, these positions play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction. Individuals in these positions must work cooperatively with other Associates, vendors, carriers, and productively with little/some supervision, be detail-oriented, and have proven time management skills. The purpose of this position is to serve as a Medical Support Assistant (Advanced), for patient clinical support in the Wilmington VA Medical Center. Duties may be performed in either of the following service areas: Community Care Service and Health Administration Service, as well as any of our Community Based Outpatient Care (CBOC) Clinics. VA Careers - Medical Support Assistant: Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties of the Medical Support Assistant (Advanced) includes but are not limited to:
- Typing, filing, data entry, scheduling appointments and tests, ensuring transfer of medical records from and to the VAMC and other facilities.
- Ordering office supplies and necessary forms, scheduling patients' appointments and/or consults.
- Tracking patients' appointment status in the community and maintaining spreadsheets to validate data tracking.
- Making follow- up (post-care) calls on a daily basis.
- Researching and maintaining an updated database of community medical services to assist Veterans with locating medical care in the community.
- Supports clinics regarding clinic profile management.
- Collects and updates insurance information from Veterans, family members and other eligible patients.
- Ensures data is entered into VISTA accurately and scans documents into VISTA Imaging within 24 hours of entering the data into VISTA if applicable.
