The Birmingham office of a respected mid-size law firm headquartered in Montgomery is seeking a **full-time Legal Assistant** to join our litigation defense team. We're looking for a skilled and dependable legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings initiative, organization, and accuracy to their work.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Draft and format emails, letters, pleadings, briefs, and motions.
+ E-file notices, pleadings, and other documents in federal and state courts.
+ Transcribe dictation including time entries, brief arguments, and discovery responses.
+ Upload, save, and organize emails, documents, correspondence, and pleadings in the document management system.
+ Bates stamp, redact, and sequence documents using Adobe Acrobat.
+ Calendar deadlines and appointments in Outlook.
+ Schedule court reporters, client meetings, and related events.
+ Transcribe dictation and draft correspondence.
+ Format and prepare pleadings for electronic filing (state and federal courts).
+ Upload and organize records in Box and Dropbox.
+ Set up and maintain both digital and physical case files.
+ Enter time into billing software and prepare client invoices ( _preferred_ ).
+ Prepare check and firm VISA reimbursement request forms ( _preferred_ ).
+ Process reimbursement requests (firm credit card and checks).
+ Schedule deadlines, depositions, court reporters, and client meetings.
+ Calendar court dates and internal deadlines.
**Qualifications**
**Required:**
+ 5+ years of legal assistant experience supporting state and federal litigation.
+ Experience drafting and formatting legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings.
+ Skilled in e-filing within state and federal court systems.
+ Proficient in transcription, data management systems, and Adobe Acrobat (including Bates stamping, redacting, and sequencing).
+ Strong knowledge of calendaring and scheduling in Outlook.
+ Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
**Compensation & Benefits**
+ Competitive salary: ** 60,000 - 70,000 (DOE)**

Description
Robert Half is looking for a full-time Legal Assistant to join a reputable law firm in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you will play a key part in managing case files, communicating with various partners, and supporting the legal team with administrative and procedural tasks. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and skilled at multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
+ Handle a high volume of case files and ensure all documentation is up to date.
+ Communicate effectively with clients, insurance adjusters, opposing counsel, and medical providers to facilitate case progress.
+ Coordinate with insurance representatives to secure necessary authorizations for client medications, treatments, and surgeries.
+ Draft legal documents such as routine motions, subpoenas, discovery requests, and correspondence.
+ Compile and prepare special reports for insurance carriers to support claims.
+ Request and manage itemized bills and medical records from healthcare providers.
+ Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with case management software.
+ Assist in billing functions and calendar management to keep schedules organized and deadlines met.
+ Stay updated on workers' compensation laws and procedures to provide accurate support
Requirements
Requirements:
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in a legal assistant or similar role.
+ Proficiency with case management software and e-filing systems.
+ Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
+ Experience in client relations and claim administration.
+ Familiarity with billing functions and calendar management.
+ Knowledge of workers' compensation processes is highly desirable.
+ Spanish fluency is a plus, but not required.
