**Job Summary and Qualifications**
The start date for the OR cohort is 11/3/2025 and you must be licensed before that. The HCA Nurse Residency Program at HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital provides you with the tools necessary to succeed in today's hospital environment. This paid program will assist you with the transition out of the classroom setting through a formalized series of learning experiences, including:
+ Advanced clinical training in a specialty area.
+ Monthly educational sessions.
+ Preceptorship training with a facility preceptor.
+ Measurement and evaluation of skills through hands-on simulations.
+ Mentoring from experienced nurse leaders.
+ Working collaboratively on an evidence-based practice project.
The RN Resident coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN Resident provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." **What will you do in this role:**
+ Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
+ Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.

**This is a full-time position. Calls and schedules are reviewed in interview. Shifts will not be assigned until after orientation. Six-month orientation for future caregivers who are new to OR specialty fields regardless of prior RN experience. Orientation is Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm.**

+ Participate in a residency core curriculum based on surgery core learning needs.

+ New grad RN OR less than one year of RN work experience

The Nurse Resident performs basic patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, including specialized tasks and procedures involving the physical, psychosocial, safety, and security needs of the patient. This position requires population specific competencies. Individuals in this position may not administer medications, intravenous therapy or perform independent nursing assessments. May be required to float to other units. May be required to participate in on-calls status.

* Personal patient care tasks, such as mouth care, making beds, giving baths, perineal care, hair care, shaving patients, giving backrubs, and emptying bedpans or urinals.
* Assists with patient safety issues such as presence of identification arm band, adherence to patient fall protocol and use of restraints, positioning of patients, promotion of an environment for rest and sleep, reporting of incidents/injury occurrences.
* Performs treatments, which may include urinary catheter care, enema administration, preparation of sitz baths, applying compresses, and assisting with patient ambulation.
* Assists in patient admission by preparing the room, admitting the patient, and preparing for patient discharge.
* Conducts and documents basic diagnostic testing which includes but is not limited to, obtaining vital signs; blood glucose monitoring; 12-Lead EKG; telemetry monitor and pulse oximetry and Doppler.
* Performing selected sterile procedures that include specimen collection, wound care, tracheostomy care and suction, urinary catheterization, and tube feedings.
* May retrieve and transport medications
* Note: Nurse Residents may not administer medications, nor may they independently assess patients. Please refer to the Oklahoma Board of Nursing statements on Guidelines for Individuals Enrolled in or Graduates of Nursing Education Programs, and OBN Policy on Delegation of Nursing Functions to Unlicensed Persons.
* Emergency Rules: Refer to Title 485: OBN, Chapter 10: Licensure of Practical & Registered Nurses, Subchapter 21 - Pandemic Licensure Requirements - Item 485:10-21-4 Students or non-licensed graduates. Effective 4/21/20 through the duration of the Governors emergency declaration for the COVID-19 outbreak, as declared by executive order of the Governor, or through September 14, 2021, whichever occurs first, unless superseded by another rule or disapproved by the legislature.
* Reports to assigned leader. This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements.

The selected physician will lead the efforts of this group as the Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Opportunities exist for candidates interested in a hybrid model to be part of our GME Surgery Residency and Fellowship Program sponsored by the University of Miami/ Jackson Health System.

The Chief of CTS has joint responsibility with the Practice Manager, for overseeing the clinical and administrative aspects of the practice(s). This includes accountability for clinical quality of care, patient satisfaction, staff and provider satisfaction, productivity, revenue enhancement, managed care performance, recruitment, and assuring adequate patient access. In conjunction with the Practice Manager, the Chief will also share accountability for practice performance goals and metrics, and for providing leadership for both practice providers and staff.

The preferred physician will possess experience in all aspects of adult Cardiothoracic surgery. Preference will be shown to candidates who possess more than five years of practice experience.
