In this position you will be supporting our Doctors and Technician teams by helping to prep for surgical procedures.
Duties will include but not limited to:
Setting up and cleaning the surgery suites
Properly cleaning, sanitizing and sterilizing the instruments
Maintenance on instruments such as lubrication, lens cleaning etc.
Proper cleaning, folding and storage of surgical linens
Restocking of the surgical supplies including prepared packs, wound dressings, bandage and casting material, surgical suites, surgical storage cabinets, etc.
Assisting the surgery teams on the floor when needed.
Dependable attendance is required.
Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
This position requires the ability to walk, bend, stand and reach constantly during a 10-hour day.

**Job Summary and Qualifications**
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Tech contributes to the company's mission and vision by assisting with the provision of safe and effective nursing care in accordance with a defined scope of practice within the operating room. DescriptionResponsibilities
- Select instrumentation appropriate for procedure.
- Wipe down room and check room for cleanliness, availability of supplies and equipment at the beginning of the day.
- Open sterile packs and supplies, using surgeon's preference card for specific requests. Use supplies conservatively and efficiently.
- Scrub hands and arms according to Sterile Scrub Techniques Policy. Dons sterile gown and gloves, maintaining sterile technique.
- Set up back table and mayo using surgeon's preference card as a reference for instruments, medications, etc.
- Maintain proper sterile technique when gowning and gloving the surgeon. Assist with draping of patient and confirm the operative area and procedure with the surgeon and OR team.
- The field with appropriate equipment to begin the procedure (Example: bovie, suction, light source, camera).
- Perform sponge, needle and instrument counts with Circulator, if required.
- During procedure, 1) passes instruments to surgeon and the assistant, 2) is attentive to operative area by being alert for breaks in technique, 3) maintains an attitude of willingness to assist with the procedure, 4) is aware of location of all instruments, needles, sponges and specimens.
- Keep mayo and back table neat and orderly.
- Care for the specimen following Operating Room policy and procedure.
- Assist the surgeon with dressings at end of procedure.
- After the procedure, break down back table and dispose of sharps in accepted manner. Remove and account for all instruments used in field.
- Keep delicate instruments separate from heavy items.
- Follow proper procedures regarding exposure to Category I tasks. Follow universal precautions/BBP standards at all times. Eye protection will be worn by Surgery Center scrub personnel at all times.
- Follow proper procedures for handling hazardous waste materials.
- As part of the OR team:
- Transport soiled instruments to decontamination room to soak or wash. Prepare soiled instruments for cleaning, wash, decontaminate and reprocess in steam autoclave using appropriate cycle.
- Take clean instruments to workroom for reprocessing.
- Identify items in each load appropriately.
- Put unused sterile instruments and all supplies away.
- Restock operating room and sterile supply room.
- Terminally clean OR rooms at end of day's schedule.
- Conduct autoclave testing appropriately and document results appropriately. Notify Director of Nursing of any deficiencies in sterilizing process and complete report if necessary.
- Assist with any other duties as needed.

Under the direction of the Unit Manager, or Registered Nurse, will assist in the preparation and care of surgical patients ranging from infants to geriatrics. Assists with surgical procedures in the Operating Room. Performs routine and delegated duties according to departmental policies.

Shift Details: Full-time, 40 hours weekly, Variable shift.
Required Qualifications:
- Washington Surgical Technologist Registration upon hire.
- National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduation from an Accredited Training Program.
- National certification as a Surgical Technologist upon hire.
- Surgical Technologist.

Our Technologist are integral members of inter-professional teams in hospitals and clinics that are committed to outstanding patient care, driven by their expertise, compassion and operate at a higher level of practice. - Implements and evaluates care of patients undergoing diagnostic and invasive surgical procedures.
- Keeps the Perioperative team abreast of the procedure needs and progress.
- Identifies more complex patient needs by reviewing procedure protocol, physician's request, and assessing the patient's physical needs.
- Prioritizes procedure process and supplies for specialty group of patients.
- Plans for surgical procedure based on identified needs of surgeon and patient, implementing intervention for identified patient problems as related to surgical procedure and patient needs.
- Utilizes appropriate standards of care, and/or collaborative clinical pathways to guide the plan of care.
- Determines the equipment, materials, and resources needed to meet the patient procedure plan.
- Successfully completes hospital and department-based orientation programs, attending educational programs to develop optimal knowledge in area of specialty.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent job training. Certification in Surgical Technology preferred.
- Two years multispecialty experience. Must be able to function as a clinical expert in at least one service line and have the ability to float to other service lines, as needed.
- Specialty areas include: Colorectal, Complex GYN, Complex Neuro, ENT, General Surgery, Oncology Ophthalmology (Corneal; Retina Cell transplants), Procedures (aneurysm, craniotomy), Reconstructive Surgery (e.g. TRAM Flaps), Robotics, Surgical Oncology (Head & Neck, Skull based, HIPEC), Thoracic and Vascular.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.
