VCA Colonial Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician Supervisor for our busy Surgery/Anesthesia Department . This is a working supervisor role working within the dept while having administrative time to develop the service and team. We are a hybrid animal hospital and proud to be one of the premier providers of primary, specialty and emergency care located in the heart of the beautiful Finger Lakes region in Upstate New York.

Veterinary Technician Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Full Technician Skill Utilization

  • Experience in Anesthesia and Surgery preferred.

  • Working collaboratively with team members of all hospital services

  • Coaching associates based on need to aid in their success

  • Facilitate communication of ideas, policies, standards and performance

  • Provide feedback related to associate performance, and collaborate with leadership to develop performance improvement plans

**Job Summary and Qualifications**

Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field, and three years of materials supervisory experience in a healthcare environment.
In lieu of a degree, will consider six years of materials supervisory experience in a healthcare environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of the material process flow from requisition to disposition, including computerized activity for purchasing and inventory management.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Enterprise Planning Resource (ERP) experience.

**Job Summary and Qualifications**
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) ensures and delivers high quality, patient-centered care and coordination of all functions in the unit/department during the designated shift. In collaboration with other members of the management team, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures, serves as a resource person for staff, and models a commitment to the organization's vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.
**What you will do in this role:**
+ Assists with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care.
+ Participates in the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team.
+ Collaborates with subject matter experts and other managers to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service.
+ Supports a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
+ Supports the efforts of the facility to improve engagement by operationalizing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding, hourly rounds, and other initiatives.
+ Provides recommendations related to interviewing, selecting, and training new staff. Recommends and implements courses of action, including training and development, conflict resolution, personnel policy compliance, completion of performance evaluations, and/or disciplinary actions to ensure a competitively better organization.
+ Assists with staff scheduling. Manages all practical aspects of staff labor in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines.
+ Supports proper inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment.

Under supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Supv-Surgical Technologists provides patient care supervision and education of the Surgical Technologists ensuring comprehensive perioperative services and quality patient care. The Supervisor provides management of the Surgical Technologist team as well as day-to-day immediate management of supplies and equipment operations. This allows the Nurse Manager the opportunity to focus on long-term planning, budget, goals, outcomes, decision-making and other higher-level management functions. This position also assists with quality review, performance management, and customer service of the overall department and/or surgical team. The scope and span of control for the Supervisor may include more than one unit and/or clinical specialty and demonstrates a collaborative intent.
