Primary Function

Manages the full life cycle (proposal-initiation-execution/control-closeout) of surveying projects for Ardurra Northern California Operations. This includes managing all activities related to project scope, schedule, cost, cash flow, quality, communications, resources, procurement, and risk elements required to optimize client service, quality, and fiscal responsibility. The Project Manager’s overall objective is to build and maintain a positive client relationship, and to achieve or exceed the estimated profit margin for the project.
Primary Duties
- Writing proposals and negotiating with government agencies
- Reviews assigned project(s) after award to determine work procedures/sequences, develop schedules, budgets, and billing.
- Establishes contractor-client liaison network to keep all interested parties informed of project planning, start date, and work progress.
- Oversees field crew work and CAD drafting work and sees that responsibilities are assigned, and execution of tasks are begun and completed according to schedule.
- Review, sign / seal, and delivery of survey product consistent with CA Statutes, client expectations and best surveying procedures and practices
- Maintains a continuing business relationship with major clients.
- California PLS license or LSIT (required)
- Degree with survey related courses (preferred)
- 7+ years’ experience as a Survey Manager (required)
- Substantial knowledge in all areas of surveying, including boundary, leveling, GPS, topography, scanning; R/W plats and descriptions, including both field and office work
- Must have experience with PLSS, Easement/Right-of Way Surveys, Platting, ALTA’s, boundary surveys (retracement and route), property descriptions, topographic surveys, as-built surveys, and construction staking.
- Actively participate in office and field survey responsibilities as needed.
- Provide oversight, QA/QC for field survey work.
- Experience performing survey related research is desired.
- Possess substantial knowledge of principles of supervision, including coaching and mentoring, building good relationships, monitoring, and documenting performance, disciplinary processes, and motivating staff.
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Strong skills and/or ability in the following: Coordinate work requests, establishing completion dates and scheduling.
- Writing project plans for projects

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects; participates in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers, resident engineers, and contractor representatives.
+ Gathers field survey data through use of conventional and Global Positioning System (GPS) methods; sets up, adjusts, and operates surveying equipment, including electronic total station, data collector, and GPS equipment, in order to measure distances, elevations, and angles; prepares field notes and drawings; performs field surveying for roadway, bridges and other infrastructure projects. Including installing surveying construction stakes, tying out existing intersection ties, and locating or establishing vertical and horizontal control, right of way, monuments, corners, boundaries, and property lines.
+ Performs complex surveying calculations using engineering calculator, laptop computer, personal computer, and graphics software, such as AutoCAD; analyzes raw data for mathematical closure and geometric accuracy and prepares finished grade sheets, topographic maps and other survey report
+ Assists in construction, design, topographic, and all types of control surveys.
+ Assumes responsibility for the company survey equipment and oversees equipment maintenance and inventory.
+ Produces accurate detailed maps with accurate surveying data in a timely manner.
+ Sets up, operates and adjusts all types of survey equipment, including a level, transit and electronic measuring device.
+ Makes trigonometric calculations, such as adjusting traverses and calculation of coordinates, control points, quantities and areas.
+ Trains other crew members on the latest technology in surveying equipment and finds new and innovative ways of doing surveys
**QUALIFICATIONS**
+ 4-year degree in construction, engineering or other related field of study, or 10 years of survey construction staking experience required
+ Trimble Business Center experience is a plus

RequirementsQualifications
The preferred candidate will have a California PLS (Professional Land Surveyor) license, plus 5 years of office mapping experience on private land development projects and public works projects.Candidate must have thorough knowledge of the California Subdivision Map Act, Professional Surveyors Act, local Civil Codes, Leadership skills, and excellent communication skills.Candidate should have experience in the following:
Preparing CAD drawings of boundary surveys, Topographic Maps, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, As-built surveys, subdivision maps and other survey drawings as well as experience processing with City and County agencies. Additional skills necessary for this position are:
Project ManagementBusiness DevelopmentProposal Writing and EstimatingEnsure project goals are met on timeProvide direction, support, and mentorship to lower-level staff membersTime management/Schedule oversightTechnical:

Ardurra is seeking a Survey Manager to join our team in Oakdale , Sacramento or San Jose, CA!
California PLS license or LSIT is required
Primary Function
Manages the full life cycle (proposal-initiation-execution/control-closeout) of surveying projects for Ardurra Northern California Operations. This includes managing all activities related to project scope, schedule, cost, cash flow, quality, communications, resources, procurement, and risk elements required to optimize client service, quality, and fiscal responsibility. The Project Manager’s overall objective is to build and maintain a positive client relationship, and to achieve or exceed the estimated profit margin for the project.
Primary Duties
- Writing proposals and negotiating with government agencies
- Reviews assigned project(s) after award to determine work procedures/sequences, develop schedules, budgets, and billing.
- Establishes contractor-client liaison network to keep all interested parties informed of project planning, start date, and work progress.
- Oversees field crew work and CAD drafting work and sees that responsibilities are assigned, and execution of tasks are begun and completed according to schedule.
- Review, sign / seal, and delivery of survey product consistent with CA Statutes, client expectations and best surveying procedures and practices
- Maintains a continuing business relationship with major clients.
Education/Qualifications:
- California PLS license or LSIT (required)
- Degree with survey related courses (preferred)
- 7+ years’ experience as a Survey Manager (required)
- Substantial knowledge in all areas of surveying, including boundary, leveling, GPS, topography, scanning; R/W plats and descriptions, including both field and office work
- Must have experience with PLSS, Easement/Right-of Way Surveys, Platting, ALTA’s, boundary surveys (retracement and route), property descriptions, topographic surveys, as-built surveys, and construction staking.
- Actively participate in office and field survey responsibilities as needed.
- Provide oversight, QA/QC for field survey work.
- Experience performing survey related research is desired.
- Possess substantial knowledge of principles of supervision, including coaching and mentoring, building good relationships, monitoring, and documenting performance, disciplinary processes, and motivating staff.
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Strong skills and/or ability in the following: Coordinate work requests, establishing completion dates and scheduling.
- Writing project plans for projects
- General administrative tasks and processes
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
Salary Range:
$100,000 to 140,000 (DOE)

This internship offers hands-on experience supporting land surveying and civil site development projects. From your first day, you'll work alongside experienced surveyors and engineers, applying classroom knowledge to real-world projects that support land development and infrastructure improvements.
This is a paid internship.
This opportunity is ideal for studentswho are eager to grow their technical skills and gain practical experience in surveying and civil engineering.
What You'll Do-
Assist experienced survey field staff with topographic and boundary surveys, route surveys, stream surveys, and construction stakeouts
Gain exposure to progressive technology, including robotic total stations, GPS, UAS (drone), and LiDAR scanning
Learn to collect survey data and search for boundary evidence while working in a variety of terrain and outdoor conditions
Perform physical field tasks such as setting stakes and monuments, clearing brush, and hiking
Utilize surveying software to gather, retrieve, and interpret data, and perform basic survey computations
