Responsibilities
+ Recruit, mentor, and retain a high-performing survey team of 20 professionals.

Essential Skills
+ Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in any U.S. state, with California strongly preferred.
+ 8+ years of progressive experience in the land surveying field.
+ Proven track record in staff supervision, project delivery, and client relationship building.
+ Proficiency in surveying techniques, project management, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and topographic surveys.
+ Ability to lead with clarity, empathy, and strategic thinking.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Familiarity with CALTRANS standards and processes is a plus.
+ Knowledge in land development and hydrographic surveying.
+ Experience with mobile 3D laser scanning.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects; participates in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers, resident engineers, and contractor representatives.
+ Gathers field survey data through use of conventional and Global Positioning System (GPS) methods; sets up, adjusts, and operates surveying equipment, including electronic total station, data collector, and GPS equipment, in order to measure distances, elevations, and angles; prepares field notes and drawings; performs field surveying for roadway, bridges and other infrastructure projects. Including installing surveying construction stakes, tying out existing intersection ties, and locating or establishing vertical and horizontal control, right of way, monuments, corners, boundaries, and property lines.
+ Performs complex surveying calculations using engineering calculator, laptop computer, personal computer, and graphics software, such as AutoCAD; analyzes raw data for mathematical closure and geometric accuracy and prepares finished grade sheets, topographic maps and other survey report
+ Assists in construction, design, topographic, and all types of control surveys.
+ Assumes responsibility for the company survey equipment and oversees equipment maintenance and inventory.
+ Produces accurate detailed maps with accurate surveying data in a timely manner.
+ Sets up, operates and adjusts all types of survey equipment, including a level, transit and electronic measuring device.
+ Makes trigonometric calculations, such as adjusting traverses and calculation of coordinates, control points, quantities and areas.
+ Trains other crew members on the latest technology in surveying equipment and finds new and innovative ways of doing surveys
**QUALIFICATIONS**
+ 4-year degree in construction, engineering or other related field of study, or 10 years of survey construction staking experience required

Primary Function

Manages the full life cycle (proposal-initiation-execution/control-closeout) of surveying projects for Ardurra Northern California Operations. Primary Duties

  • Writing proposals and negotiating with government agencies
  • Reviews assigned project(s) after award to determine work procedures/sequences, develop schedules, budgets, and billing.
  • Establishes contractor-client liaison network to keep all interested parties informed of project planning, start date, and work progress.
  • Oversees field crew work and CAD drafting work and sees that responsibilities are assigned, and execution of tasks are begun and completed according to schedule.
  • Review, sign / seal, and delivery of survey product consistent with CA Statutes, client expectations and best surveying procedures and practices

Education/Qualifications:

**Job Description:**
**Responsibilities:**
**Office Work:**
+ Conduct and oversee diverse types of Surveys including Boundary, Topography, ALTA/NSPS, Construction Staking, Bathymetric, Drone, 3D Scanning, etc.
+ Plan, coordinate, and manage survey projects to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets
+ Communicate with coworkers and clients to understand their overall needs, provide updates, and deliver high-quality service
+ Complete Health and Safety Plan (HASP) prior to field crew performing site work
+ Prepare, review, and interpret legal documents, including deeds, plats, and easements
+ Ensure all survey activities comply with state and local regulations and standards. Uphold ethical and professional standards
+ Utilize advanced surveying equipment and software to collect and analyze data, ensuring precision and accuracy. Keep up on the latest technology advancements, regulations, and emerging technologies in land surveying
+ Mentor and train junior surveyors and technicians, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable team environment
**Field Work:**
+ Conduct on-site surveys using GPS, total stations, and other surveying instruments
+ Collect accurate field data and ensure proper documentation
+ Maintain and calibrate survey equipment to ensure optimal performance
+ Address and resolve any issues encountered in the field
**Qualifications:**
+ HS Diploma or Equivalent; Bachelor's degree in a Surveying program preferred
+ Must be eligible to obtain a PLS license in accordance with the Maryland Code within 6 months of hire; MD PLS license already obtained preferred
+ Minimum of 6 years' experience in professional surveying
+ Proficient in survey-related equipment including but not limited to GPS, Robotic Total Stations, 3D Scanners, Drones, etc.
+ Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRoads, and other survey-related software
+ Current FAA Part 107 Drone Pilot's License preferred
+ Ability to work effectively in a team environment and lead by example
+ Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
+ Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains
+ Must have a valid driver's license
**Salary Range**
The compensation range starts at $80, 000 and is based on the position, experience, and licensures.
