Job Description - The Community Manager understands how food systems work and drives the program to further the success of current and next gen market food merchants and the served communities. The position is an opportunity to contribute to regional food security through the success of existing and new programs, and through centralization and long-term capacity building and infrastructure improvements. This role requires a keen understanding of the unique opportunities and challenges of a social enterprise model as well as the ability to successfully engage with a wide range of stakeholders. A successful Community Manager will have a strong aptitude for managing the ideas, relationships, and processes necessary to grow and nurture a highly effective food waste program and provide business support for the tenants.
Responsibilities include:
Program Management
Food Recovery and Outreach
- Support Food Recovery Project Manager in execution of award-winning Food Recovery Program, including operating as backup support to the Project Manager.
- Represent the organization and engage with partners for Food Recovery, including merchants donating produce, community partners receiving food, funders who support the program, and relevant coalitions in the Bayview and San Francisco.
- Apply for, comply with, and report on grants that support the financial sustainability of the Food Recovery Program to maintain 100% funding. Engage deeply with city funders and approve the marketing and media approach of the Food Recovery Program.
- Manage budget and purchasing produce from tenants for 4-5 community events annually.
- Support the design and fundraising for the new Food Recovery and Waste Management Center, aimed at centralizing operations for the exciting next chapter in Food Recovery.
- Other internal projects as needed
Market Access & Tenant Support
- Lead morning tours for key stakeholders, particularly prospective buyers who may be new, local farmers who may sell to tenants, and funders of this work.
- Administer the Annual Survey to gather feedback from merchant owners and managers about communications, services, business optimism, and other topics as appropriate. Examine data and present results to Staff, Board, Committees and Tenants. Work with the General Manager and staff implementing recommendations.
- Support the design, development and implementation of programming such as workshops, training, and community building events to support the success of tenant businesses.
Operational Development
- Provide administrative and strategic support to the Strategy and Program Committees. Leverage committee members’ collective experience and perspectives to oversee programmatic work and strategic plan implementation and other strategic market initiatives and decisions, respectively.
- Development and maintenance of assigned budget.
- Other internal projects as needed to support organizational goals.
Position Requirements
- Exceptional ability to manage, collaborate with and motivate a wide diversity of people and relationships (as a manager,
- collaborator, and in “managing up”)
- Experience managing food programs, demonstrated interest in regional food systems
- Strong and demonstrated organizational and project management skills, including ability to juggle multiple and competing priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfort working in ambiguity
- Ability to develop and deliver budgets, and presentations to multiple types of audiences
- Experience engaging in fund development activities, including cultivating and managing funder relationships; writing grant proposals; producing grant reports
- Experience with and desire to build new things; a self-starter attitude
Education
- Minimum 5 years of food systems management experience, ideally in a food-related social enterprise, non- profit or mission-driven business environment
- Minimum 3 years of people and program management experience
- Fluency in English. Fluency in Cantonese or Spanish is a plus

Description
The corporate Sustainable Development (SD) team has responsibility across international operations for: sustainability policies, governance, and processes; embedding SD into the business strategy, planning and decision making; engagement with internal and external partners; supporting business unit implementation; and external reporting on environmental and social performance.
Positions within the corporate SD team are expected, in addition to their own responsibilities, to professionally develop and contribute across the range of the team's functional responsibilities, reflecting the integrated nature of environmental and social performance, and the internal and external aspects of SD that contribute to ConocoPhillips' competitive edge on financial, environmental, and social performance.
Assignments will be at our headquarters located in Houston, Texas. Typical length of our internships varies from 10 to 14 weeks based on the project and your availability.
As an SD Intern, you will:
+ Receive diversified training through on-the-job assignments
+ Support global sustainable development strategic planning, assessments, management and disclosure
+ Be exposed to other functions outside of your immediate work group, that are engaged in sustainable development including public policy, supply chain and commercial, finance, asset and operations, etc.
+ Learn more about ConocoPhillips and our business, as well as the energy industry as a whole
+ Build meaningful relationships through professional, social, volunteer and team activities
Responsibilities may include:
+ Supporting development and implementation of sustainability related standards and practices
+ Supporting data gathering, analysis and assessment on sustainability-related topics
+ Benchmarking and researching on sustainability-related topics within and across the company and business additional projects spanning different aspects of sustainability within and across functions
Basic/Required:
+ Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer and/or education institution
+ Pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Engineering and Sciences, Economics, Sustainability and Business Administration, other related field, or foreign equivalent
+ Current level in college: Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student
+ Expected graduation date: Fall 2026 through Spring/Fall 2027
+ A minimum of ten (10) continuous weeks availability for internship

+ Willing to work in either of these locations: Houston, TX
