The Binding Site VT specializes in the production of polyclonal antibodies, primarily in sheep, and is a subsidiary of a larger diagnostic company based in England. We currently have a full-time, 40-hour position available for an Animal Husbandry Technician on our USDA registered sheep farm and laboratory in Benson, VT.

This full time role will participate in and carry out all aspects of animal husbandry and welfare across both sites. They will be required to work both independently and as a team to meet the demands of animal welfare/husbandry across two farms and will ensure that the welfare is maintained to a high standard at all times. They'll need to follow treatment policies and ensure they are up to date with current standard process. All of their work is carried out in accordance with USDA, IACUC protocol, animal welfare act, health and safety, and animal welfare procedures and guidelines, as well as company policies and standards.
**A Day in the Life:**
+ Carry out daily feeding regimes of all animals on the farm
+ Routine and non-routine animal treatments
+ Participate in animal sorting or movement

Job Description
The technician in this role is responsible for the care and maintenance of animal patients used in research and development studies. The technician supports the preclinical team by ensuring the health and well-being of the patients and maintaining a clean and secure animal facility.
Responsibilities
+ Care for animals used in research and development studies.
+ Feed and care for animals, clean cages, and maintain animal housing areas.
+ Hold animals for treatment by laboratory technicians.
+ Maintain inventory and animal identification records.
+ Perform cleaning and sanitation of the animal facility and equipment.
+ Ensure biosafety and biosecurity of the animals.
+ Assist and support veterinarians and preclinical investigators with surgeries, dosing, postoperative care, and monitoring of animal studies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 6+ months of animal handling experience
+ High school diploma
