Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our client's team in the Communications industry located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Network Engineer will be responsible for leading network projects and integrating new technologies by creating, adjusting, and implementing enterprise-level solutions. This role will support business needs by assessing both current and emerging technologies, standardizing configurations, and maintaining comprehensive documentation. This role offers a contract to permanent employment opportunity.
The main focus of this position will be bringing network automation and Infrastructure as Code experience and expertise to their organization. Strong subject matter expertise with Python, automation systems and frameworks such as Ansible. Nornir, Git, CI/CD, Containers, Nautobot/Netbox, NETCONF/RESTCONF, Yang models is a must have for success in this position.
Responsibilities:
- Leading network projects and integrating new technologies by designing, configuring, and implementing enterprise-grade solutions.
- Evaluating both existing and emerging technologies, standardizing configurations, and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Developing procedures for new products, automating network processes, and providing training to entry level team members.
- Supporting Sales Engineers on an ad hoc basis, participating in the on-call rotation, and serving as an escalation point for complex technical issues.
- Hands-on experience with routing and switching protocols, Cisco IOS/NX-OS, network security practices, and Python scripting.
- Familiarity with VPNs, wireless, AAA systems, and automation tools like Ansible, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with SD-WAN, packet analysis, network documentation (Visio), and tools such as ServiceNow, Splunk, and LogicMonitor.
- Exposure to Linux and load balancers.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Requirements
Required Experience:
- 5+ years of experience (4 years with CCNP level certification)
- 2 years practicing/implementing network automation
- 3 years deploying/implementing advanced level projects/solutions
- CCNA
- Cisco DevNet Certifications -- a plus
Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team and able to work with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated experience with routing protocols and techniques: OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VRF, HSRP
- Demonstrated experience with switching protocols and techniques
- Experience with Cisco IOS and Cisco NX-OS
- Demonstrated experience with Python
- Experience with firewalls
- Experience with wireless technologies (802.11)
- Experience with tunneling/VPN protocols and technologies: IPSec, GRE, DMVPN
- Experience with analyzing packet captures and network device logs
- Experience with securing data, control and management planes: dot1X, Port Security, ACL, CoPP
- Experience with AAA protocols and applications: TACACS, RADIUS, Cisco ACS/ISE
- Experience with SD-WAN products
