Team Overview:The Staff System Automation Engineer will play a key role in developing and maintaining test automation frameworks for RFID system validation. This role involves close collaboration with test engineers to enable efficient and repeatable execution of system-level tests using Python-based scripting. This role is focused on designing and maintaining Python-based test automation frameworks and modular test scripts for validating the performance and functionality of RFID systems, including both conducted (wired) and over-the-air configurations. This role collaborates across teams to ensure that the automation infrastructure is scalable, maintainable, and high performing, supporting Impinj RFID reader products and systems.
What You Will Do:- Design and develop robust test automation framework architectures for RFID system validation, with a focus on scalability, maintainability, and performance
- Implement Python-based interfaces for controlling and communicating with RFID readers to enable test execution, diagnostics, and data collection
- Integrate test hardware (e.g., signal generators, spectrum analyzers, emulated tags) into the automation framework for fully automated test execution and data acquisition
- Develop and optimize system performance test scripts based on engineering specifications, enabling data logging, system validation, and post-test analytics
- Implement and manage relational database systems (e.g., SQL) for organizing and storing test results; implement automated data pipelines for ingestion, parsing, and aggregation of large-scale datasets
- Troubleshoot and debug complex system-level issues involving interactions between RFID hardware, automation software, and test environments, ensuring alignment with product requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 8 years of hands-on experience in RF system test automation design and implementation
- Strong proficiency in Python, including test framework and automation script development
- Experience with embedded software stacks and hardware-software integration
- Familiarity with REST APIs and backend service automation
- Proficiency with Linux tools, shell scripting, and development standard methodologies
- Experience with data parsing, processing, and visualization for test analysis
- Deep experience with Linux terminal operations, including BASH scripting, process management, and system diagnostics
- Familiarity with virtual environments using Docker and virtual machines
- Experience with Linux package management (e.g., apt, yum, dnf for installation, updates, and dependency handling)
- Familiarity with remote debugging and access tools (SSH, Telnet, Remote Desktop)
- Strong log analysis and troubleshooting skills in complex automation environments
- Proficiency with Git command-line operations and version control best practices
- Experience with code review workflows, pull requests (PRs), and branching strategies
- Familiarity with software packaging tools (e.g., pip, npm, cargo, Linux distro packages)
- Knowledge on RF test equipment (Spectrum analyzers, VNA, etc.) RF principles and measurement techniques including Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), Sensitivity analysis, RF power and emission analysis, Interference detection and spectrum analysis

The typical base pay range for this role across the US is $129,000 - $200,000 . Individual base pay depends on various factors such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties, requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Both market wage data and the mid-point of the pay range is reviewed and used as the starting point for all new hire offers. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
At Impinj certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role. The OpsSWE Team is seeking a highly motivated individual with a background in Systems Test and Test Automation. In this position, the Systems Test Engineer will be responsible for testing software solutions and architected and developing end to end test automation.
Architect, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for validating hardware and software features for factory testing environments. Design test plans, strategies, and methodologies for software validation in factory fixtures and production lines. Develop and enhance test automation frameworks to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability of system validation. Modify and execute tests to validate hardware and software interactions in manufacturing test environments. Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, and Software Engineers to debug and resolve device validation issues in production. Ensure traceability, reproducibility, and reliability of test results through structured reporting and analysis. Improve and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline test execution, reporting, and release management. Work closely with operations, engineering, and senior management to deliver data-driven quality assurance insights. Enhance build and release systems to improve software deployment efficiency in factory test environments. Evaluate and integrate AI/ML-driven quality assurance methodologies where applicable.
Minimum Qualifications

Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

**Responsibilities/You Will**
+ Provide direction and ongoing design oversight to the development of design system packaging of building automation systems created by consultants and contractors. The determination of the suitability of the designs by consultants and contractors is the responsibility of this role.
+ Design facility controls from small to large scale projects.
+ Create HVAC Sequence of Operations requirements for new installations and renovations. Oversee and guide consultant provided Sequence of Operation designs.

+ Troubleshooting mechanical systems and low voltage control systems training.

+ Sharp oral and written communication skills, and ability to "tell the story" to stakeholders who do not have an engineering background.
+ Leadership skills, as well as the desire and ability to mentor less experienced engineers.

+ Familiarity with ASHRAE Guidelines.
**Education Requirements**
+ Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited curriculum.
**Preferred Qualifications**
